Survivors are just skins at this point

So been playing since day 1 releast and im at the point now where all my survivors have the same perks, same addons same everything and are literally just skins at this point.

I really think this needs looking at - I mean couldn't they just make it so your character has to use two of their base perks as mandatory and the other two are whatever you want? This may encourage you to play some of the others a bit more because you like their perks?

Just an idea.. but I really think that the perks, addons and items needs looking at - just how they are kept and shared etc.

they always have and id like them to be more unique as much as you but they wont do anything about it anyways

They were always skins. It never mattered which survivor you mained, eventually you we're going to get all the perks on them.

Which would be fine if survivor gameplay was more appealing. Currently it's dull, repetitive, unrewarding and downright predictable.

I rather killer, at least that's interesting.

I don't think forcing players to take certain perks would be a good solution to this. Of course it would be nice, if survivors would be a little bit more different, but that would just limit current options and lead to some survivors dying out at a certain point, because of their perks.

What I would rather like to see, would be some survivor "class" system, which would replace the item choce in the loadout screen. Similar to killer's powers. But much much weaker minimal thing and with AddOns. But only three or five different survivor classes, so that new survivors would still be skins of known "classes". That would lead to different perk builds for different survivors, while still giving players more options what survivor they want to play as. But that would be a huge change from the base game. Another balancing aspect and survivor buff to deal with. Something more for a DbD successor, than for the current game.

Once i suggested a passive perk slot, that cant be picked and is fixed for that survivor

edit: less a perk and more like a trait. Eg healing faster for claudette, etc. The problem is there probably arent enough you could think of, so i guess survivors would have to have the same ones sometimes?

I feel like Survivors should be skins. I don't want to be forced to use 2 of Ace's perks when I spent a long time unlocking so much for him.

Survivors are skins because the devs want us to play who we want to play.

My survivor build is: Bond, Balanced Landing, Self-Care, and WGLF. Some also have builds that require 4 survivor teachables. if this is implemented, our build choices are limited by a large margin.

And as everyone said, Everyone would just play Meg, I wouldn't wouldn't play Meg since I run no of her perks, but still.

For everyone that said this has been the same since day 1 - I didn't unlock all the perks on day one for every character and max out all my blood webs on day one so therefore that isn't the case. I don't think everyone would run only Meg either, I think she will be higher, but then to counter that i'd make some of the more crutch perks, Self care, Adrenawin, SB etc as generic that you can get for every character, and maybe give them something else.

I don't think a passive trait would work personally as It would be even more hassle to balance as the game already is.

I have two main issues with the whole thing and its just simply

    1. The survivors don't feel special
    2. Bloodweb grind is a ballache (less perks = less grind)

Ace has built in Iron Will and Jeff, Laurie, and Bill all sound like a freight train crossed with a hydrogen bomb and the kid was precisely 487,631 times louder.

Your personal levelling experience doesn't change the fact that survivors were designed to use all the perks available with no real unique traits hence they have always been just skins since the games release in 2016.

For example females have smaller models and why they are more used.

Meg and Claudette are common as they have some of the best teachables for newer players and most pick a main when they see the grind. It's only after some playtime do people tend expand who they play and settle on a different main.

Many discussions have been on the forums of how to make a survivor unique but the danger is you no longer have just meta perks but create meta survivors as the best one with the least downsides will be the one people use.

They reason they are designed this way is so no matter who you use you aren't advantaged or disadvataged over others so it creates more diversity in who you play or verse.

It's already evident with how Claudette is complained about for being a stealth ninja but since stealth isn't the go to strat or how people play it only slightly hurts variety.

If you had to use two of their perks, you would likely just see more of the same survivors. I'm guessing you'd see a lot of Megs since you would be able to put Sprint Burst and Adrenaline into those slots, leaving you with two free choices (basically what a lot of people run already). Meanwhile characters like Quentin would fade away entirely.

Ideally you want a variety of characters. If everyone's playing the same one, it starts to get difficult to keep track of who's who, which one was just unhooked, etc.

Yeah, totally with @Masantonio on this. If you are Bill/Jeff, you are VERY loud. Good luck with the stealth there! :)

    @Peanits I see your point -

so how about making (like I stated) perks like adrenaline or Sprint burst and self care generic perks that all survivors can get and give meg some new perks instead. I don't know I personally don't feel like im playing anyone different from any other and kinda feel that's pointless.

But I would like to ask you something, @TeambossFloze , If every survivor must use 2 of their teachable perks. What will happen to me, someone who uses this build

Bond, Balanced Landing, WGLF, and Self-Care.

If this was to be added, are people like me that uses 4 different survivor teachables ever going to be able to use the builds we want? Or did you not think about that at all. I'm being serious, I would either quit the game if that ever happen, or become a killer main forever and always.

    Same problem.

Take a look at killers in red ranks. You tend to see more Billy, Nurse, Spirit because their powers are far more consistent at helping win a match. If you give specific perks to specific survivors then you will ultimately have a "meta" that makes survivor A better than survivor B by default.

Survivor being skins is true because if they were more then that very few would actually be played on a competitive level.

@TheGameZpro3 Then you would have to adapt and change up your build

Instead of this idea, I really want each character to have a BASE perk that's considered a "power" for each survivor. For example: Meg has sprint burst without taking up a perk slot. Sprint Burst is no longer a perk. Feng Min has Lithe, and Lithe is no longer a perk, etc. PERHAPS making it so that the upgraded tiers of these "powers" are unlocked by prestiging. This would cause people to pick multiple characters, because if you want Balanced Landing, you need to be playing Nea, if you want Sprint Burst, Meg, Lithe, Feng Min, Decisive, Laurie, etc. But at the same time they wouldn't be so crutch because you'd have an extra perk slot for something else, you couldn't use multiple crutch perks(except Adrenaline with Decisive or something), and each character would have a viable "power" to help them out for different things. Sure, Laurie, Nea, Feng, Meg, and David might be the most played, but that's still quite a bit of diversity. In addition, this would make other perks more viable because there are less super powerful perks. Claudette should have Botany Knowledge instead of Self-Care though because Self-Care doesn't really seem like Claudette's archetype at heart. She's more about healing others imo.

@TeambossFloze are... are you SERIOUSLY telling me that I would have to get another main after I wasted 60 hours leveling up Ace. Not get any financial compensation for wasting $15 bucks on him since he has garbage perks. Pick David King for DH and WGLF even though I genuinely hate him. Make a different build. waste another 60 hours leveling up David King, only to "diversify" the cast even though Ace mains like me are rare, and David's are common.

Can I PLEASE have whatever you've been smoking?

make the green perk of each survivor passive, thats all we need

I've been here from day 1 too and I love the idea of survivors beiing just skins. It lets you play whichever character you like the most visualy without beiing hindered by some other character beiing more meta. Survivors get diversity from their perks which make significant impact on how you play. You can run only meta or you can run meme builds, stealth builds, body block builds and so on. I think it was great design descision from the devs.
