Best Perks For Starting Out
Now I've played survivor quite a few times but never very much because I inevitably get frustrated at my team doing literally nothing crouch walking at the corners of the map when the killer's terror radius is in another country. Or when I'm on the hook and they are 3 miles away doing gens even though I run Kindred and they can see no one is coming to get me and the killer is nowhere near. And this got off topic
I've primarily played Ash but I've played Bill a bit, trying to get borrowed time and Unbreakable. But currently I've settled on playing Jake because I like Iron Will and Calm Spirit. What are the best generic perks to run with these two?

Honestly, when you're starting out Calm Spirit and Self-Care are two of the best. Being able to prevent audio and being able to maintain your own health is crucial while learning, even if as you improve you can replace these with other things.
Running Iron Will and Calm Spirit implies a level of immersion I don't myself play anymore, but Lightweight, Resilience, Small Game, Spine Chill, and We'll Make It all have quirks that can really help you and the team out when you're running those two.

To be entirely honest I'm just running Calm Spirit out of the hope, I'll get sent to Lery's with a Doctor and at end chat I get to say
"You have no power HERE!"
That and it's because it's the only perk I have. I'll put it away once I get better perks, I'll definitely leave Iron Will on because I know just how powerful audio queues are from playing Killer

Bond so you can find your fellow team mates.

If you are literally just starting and have no perks...
Pick Meg. She has the best 3 starter perks in the game. Yes Claud has Self Care, but you can equip a medkit and basically get the same result. Meg's perks are all good. Adren is hands down the best survivor perk in the game. Sprint Burst is not that great at high ranks but is actually very good at low ranks. You immediately gain distance on the killer, so that's always good (even if all other exhaustion perks are better). And Q&Q is a solid stealth perk that again is more effective at low ranks.
If you have a bunch of teachable perks unlocked already...
A good starter build is Deja Vu, Windows Of Opportunity, Bond/Empathy, and Premonition. The first two just help you learn where gens/pallets/windows are. Bond/Empathy makes it easier to find other survivors when needed. Prem is a good beginner perk for learning how to track the killer.
If you already know where gens/pallets/windows are then go with Lithe, Adren, Bond/Empathy, and Prem.

Sprint Burst, Self Care, and Bond are all good starter perks. Simple to use and very effective.

Kindred, spine chill. Literally best perks in game, even are general. Urban evasion, any exhaustion perks, quick and quiet are top notch.
