There's a lot here but I'll try to keep it brief. I'm playing as survivor. After the first of us gets hooked, he starts camping the hook. Chasing us off as we try to attempt a rescue. Two of the others DC immediately, leaving me there as the hooked one gives up. Now he's chasing me. I at least get a pallet stun before I'm downed.
5 gens to go with Ruin...not happening. He walks away, so I figure he's looking for the hatch so I start doing the same. Then here comes the red stain. Hatch bound am I? I get picked up and taken to that sound we hope to hear in this situation. I'm dropped on the floor and the hatch is roaring. But where the F is it?? A ghost hatch? I'm on the lower level so it's not above me. I looked all around...no hatch.
I guess he figured there's some glitch so he picks me up, allows me to shake loose, then leads me to the hex totem. Then all 5 generators, 2 chests, and 2 dull totems then to the exit gate. Not just 1, but both. Before I left I offered him the tool box, and gave a thanks Tea bagger and left.
LONG story short, has anyone else ever gotten this mystery hatch? I can't figure it out. I'll say that's the most patient and generous killer I've ever faced.

On the Grim Pantry hatch can spawn outside of the map.

I had this in a match recently as ghostface, it was on the gas heaven autohaven map right up the top middle near rocks behind that stack of cars/truck that spawn...yeah I was super confused, I was going in and out of shroud to give the hooked person some points, then suddenly heard the hatch directly below my feet but couldn’t see it, it only became visible after the survivor was sacrificed for a split second before the game end screen I think it was wedged too close to the rock, tree and hook. Maybe the tree spawn next to the hook messed it up...?
The entity tendril things on the base of the hook were kind of sticking into the hatch when it did become visible, maybe that might have blocked it too? I could close it just as the game ended though so no idea if it was possible to escape via it bc the survivor was hooked prior to it opening and me realising it was even there. Couldn’t ask if they saw it either because they had restricted private messages.
Didn’t know it could happen on other maps, must be a full glitch. Also that bubba is super patient, I get in the same situation sometimes with DCs etc and I just get bored eventually and hook someone, I’ll generally close the hatch if they don’t go to it and let the last person get the gate though. I need to learn bubbas teachings apparently. 😂

Thats the first I've heard of this glitch. Just weird. It took forever, it seemed, to do 5 gens myself. And with that chase theme music pounding in my ears I only blew 2 skill checks 😣

Yeah first time I had seen that glitch too, I can only imagine what it looked like to the survivor because I was crouching around it in the area, stabbing at its direction and basically shoving my face into the ground because I was dead certain it was right there and I wanted to close it so the survivor and I got the EGC points, I guess judging by your story they probably could hear it or thought I was having a malfunction, either way. 😂
I’d bet, basically an entire games objective by yourself 😨

I had it a few weeks ago as survivor, it was in the corn at Thomson house. PS4
