I need facts, when does the hatch appear? To use a key

Ok, I've heard and known, based on experience the hatch doesn't appear unless two generators are left to be repaired, but even red ranks have said to each other in SWF (when I was in the party, XBOX) that there have to be only 3 survivors left and 2 gens to do, but also, 2 survivors left and 1 gen left to do, so...

Please give me your source, link, manual, so that I can actually confirm when a key can be used to open a hatch, obviosly I mean, what circunstances have to happen for the hatch to spawn.

I'm not talking about when the hatch opens for the last survivor...

Thanks for the help

EDIT: I found this:

https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Hatch

In which states that "The Hatch will become visible ("spawn") whenever the number of fully repaired Generators "

exceeds the number of living Survivors by 1:

  • 4 Survivors remaining: 5 repaired Generators / Exit Gates
  •  are powered
  • 3 Survivors remaining: 4 repaired Generators / 1 Generator left
  • 2 Survivors remaining: 3 repaired Generators / 2 Generators left
  • 1 Survivor remaining: Spawns and opens regardless of how many generators remain.

Hatch spawns with the number of survivors plus one generator. For example, if 2 survivors are left in the trial, 3 gens have to be completed in order for the hatch to spawn. This has always been the case since the games release.

The only time this doesn't apply is if there is 1 survivor left in the trial, in which the hatch spawns regardless of how many gens were completed.

All 4 survivors alive = hatch visible after repairing all 5 gens

3 survivors dead = hatch spawns AND opens at the same time

2 survivors dead @ 2 remaining generators = hatch visible

1 survivor dead @ 1 remaining generator = hatch visible

4 survivor left +when 5 gen done = hatch spawns

3 survivor left + when 4 gen done = hatch spawns

2 survivor left + when 3 gen done = hatch spawns

1 survivor left = hatch spawns

Hatch spawns, but only open when there is 1 survivor left in the trial, though hatch can be opened with a dull/skeleton key as soon as hatch spawns.

Example: 3 gen done (2 gen left), 2 survivors left. Which mean hatch is already spawn, if one of them has a key, they can walk around finding hatch to open and escape.

In rare game, I have a key, 3 survivors left, 4 gen done (1 gen left), so the hatch spawns. I decided to escape through the hatch while being injured & chased by Billy with my key. It was a slap to the face on other 2 survivors because they didnt prepare for sudden EGC. Both of them died.

It always used to be 1 more gen completed than survivors alive - so as Yamaoka said above would be correct.

However, with the new EGC even if no generators are completed and 1 survivor is left - the hatch does come into play and it will be open. If that is closed by the killer, then the survivor can still open it again if they have a key.
