Mori Escape

Devs, has the discussion ever come up of having survivors have a very small chance (like 1 percent) of escaping a mori, with their own custom animations of course? Example: Nea busts out a can of spray paint and blinds the killer? Even a .25 or .5 percent chance would be enough I get the point of a mori and understand it couldn't be anything but ultra-rare of an occurrence. I know it would also be a lot of work for something not seen often, but just a thought.

I think your last sentence adequately answers the question.

Can there be a very small chance that a survivor might not be able to run out of the exit gate and instead slips on the ground? 😉 In all seriousness, too much RNG leads to imbalance. Luck should never be a deciding factor in a video game and we already have too many luck-based mechanics in DbD.

A one-use item that had that function could be interesting. Entity knows Survivors could use new items.

@NoShinyPony we actually have that in game now survivors can't wiggle, heal or escape through the gates and it happens more often than not for about two months. Maybe it is a new RNG design feature?
@Aceonfire I like your idea but what if you have to run a perk and it is an overcharge skill check needed to counter the mori? You waste a perk slot until that scenario presents itself.

@fcc2014 I know, and these are super frustrating bugs. RNG having a relevant impact on the outcome of a match leads to frustration for one side.

@NoShinyPony I was playing with someone last night who had an issue where they are at 980,000 bp everytime they clear a bloodweb they get no network connection and get kicked out on ps4. They would log back in and still had the 980,000 and the bloodweb was like they never touched it. They opened a ticket but they have to wait for it to be fixed otherwise they play for nothing with the million bp cap.
It is just all these little things that i think really push players towards negative behavior with this game.

@fcc2014 Oh wow, that's a super evil bug. :(

@NoShinyPony yeah and it is specific to that account maybe a corrupt save file.
He created a subaccount and was able to play and spend bloodpoints on that one with no issue.

I hate playing against moris. But I'd me more tolerant of them if-
You were guaranteed a black pip as a survivor. You should not de-pip if you get hooked once and mori'd. Killers probably shouldn't de-pip with keys either. Just make it a non-ranked game
Also, it would be nice to get some bp boost for putting up with it. At the very least, give me the option to keep my party streamers or escape cake if I end up getting mori'd.
Otherwise, I'm of the belief that dodging moris is ok.

Also, when they do bloodpoint events they should temporarily shut off mori's. If you use a mori during a bloodpoint event, you're obviously doing it at least a little bit just to troll.

ahem..like the 4 percent already in the game for a Kobe? Or the RNG for some tiles that give adjacent L-walls, next to the killer shack or large structure like coal house etc.? You must rage a lot already then. This game is already massively RNG at it's core.
Also, you are a glass is half empty kinda guy too, right? The killers never actually "kill survivors", they are brought back the entity and they have to do it again....and again....that's the point. The mori is not anything final or permanent. Simply something applied to that instance.

yeah yeah i know that's why I said it, but you can't deny, some of the animations they could come up with could be very cool. I can't say as a killer I'd be upset if RNG hit me with something with a 1% or less chance, that resulted in a cool animation. I'd actually feel somewhat privledged to see it and I'm sure an achievment could be added to both sides aka "Get denied a mori by Nea..Get mori dodged by Meg.." etc vice versa for the survivors...
Again, just a thought and topic for discussion. 😋

You already have a chance to escape it, win the chase. Auto saves take the fun and challenge out of using skill.

Wouldn't work on all killers

again I think some of you are really missing the point. The game is already set that RNG can and will sometimes, trump any amount of skill.
This is just a novelty idea.

Have you personally checked each and everyone? I'm guessing Huntress has more than just hatches hidden up her dress! lol

It would have to be a perk because no one is going to bring an item to a game with the small chance the killer has a mori. A perk that could counter a mori I would be okay with. In that way it would be like the unbreakable or deliverance perk. You might need it, you might not. Probably won't need it but just in case.

Well, that's the point. A guaranteed mori escape in the form of the perk would be too widely available and represent a major nerf to moris.

Whily Moris in itself are terrible designed, I dont think there should be a way of escaping them.
First of all, it needs to be a super low chance and this will most likely be not worth the effort to implement animations for that. It is not the case that Moris are used on a regular basis, and lets say it would be 1%... When I look at my games, I get a Mori like every 10 games at average? This means that to have this 1% working, I need to play 1000 games(when we go straight for the statistic) to have it happen. Is this worth to implement for 17 Survivors and 16 Killers?
Furthermore, I dont want to have that chance. I mean, when the Killer starts to Mori me, I KNOW it is over. I dont want to have like 1% chance, which I will not hit and then be disappointed about that.
And as Killer, if I want to mori someone because he was a Dick in a earlier game, I would be really pissed when he gets his 1% chance and gets away.

O.o make it were the keys have a chance of not fitting the lock same % chance as the Mori escape

well now that's just simply boring. The discussion here is not "new ways for rare escapes to happen", it's adding a complete set of visuals, to one of the most dramatic visual experiences in the game.
Maybe if the key blew up, or we got a long sequence of Ash going absolutely apeshit, or Nea falling on the ground having a baby like temper tantrum it's be funny....
Anyways, I think I've discussed this past a point to where I am actually feeling guilty at how much work this would involve, vs. how many absolutely broken basic things are in the game. Even discussing this amount of work when the game has less display options available to players, than a game from seriously, 1995, totally kills it.😕 Bummer.

sorry didnt see your response.
See at that point, I'd have to say if I'm that upset the mori escaped, it would be a reminder that I'm taking the game too seriously.
But yes, too much work vs the frequency and current workload, agreed.

think about it thou u try a escape u think u have then just like horror movies it doesn’t work. Show me a horror show that doesn’t have a escape attempt that isn’t botched in some way
