if I remember right Teken 7 hinted at Snake at being a fighter before the Teken 7 DLC was shown. but then was confirmed to be a joke and Solid Snake wasn't coming and it made people mad. that's what I remember, but may be wrong.

People in charge of EVO 2019 pranked people with a joke video implying Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid would be a DLC character for Tekken 7. It backfired miserably.

It gets better:
They neither asked Konami to use sound clips owned by the company, nor David Hayter to use his voice.
They were basically promoting Tekkin DLC (as a joke or not) using assets stolen from 2 people!

I believe that the partnership is there, but it could be for DbD or something else. Though with the hype building, they may just force it on DbD to avoid the impending face-explosion.
