Advice on (playing against) Spirit

I am looking for people that have legitimate good advice on playing against The Spirit.

I have played this game since it's beta, but I took off most of this year and recently started playing.

I made it back to Rank 1, and most of the games seem to be Spirit or Nurse. I don't remember the Spirit being so.. frustrating? to play against..

I am running Iron Will, We'll Make It, Adrenaline and Small Game.. I am almost willing to take off We'll Make It for Spine Chill, so I can attempt to hide from The Spirit. Otherwise, it feels like there is nothing you can do except hope she makes mistakes.

Any good advice will be appreciated :)

Since the spirit's power is based on pure chance (and if you don't run iron will also sound) it's almost impossible to outplay a good spirit. even if you decide to walk away to not leave scratch marks she will respawn again closely for an easy hit most of the times.

I'm a spirit main, and I think the best perks you could run to escape me are

    • iron will
    • poised (maybe, could be switched for something else)
    • urban evasion
    • spine chill
    • breakdown
    • lightweight (this one is very good against spirits, we rely on scratch marks)
    • quick and quiet
    • technician

You'd probably just want anything that makes you as stealthy as possible. Keep yourself quiet and run as little as possible, try to stand still while spirit is phasing so she doesnt see your scratch marks, hear your footsteps, or see grass moving.

I also forget if there's a perk that makes you bleed less/not at all. If there is, use that one too cause if they have Father's Glasses addon, they chase blood. Also use it for The Game, or any indoor map.

Yeah, try to go someplace she might not expect you to, but it's always a gamble. Iron Will helps. She knows where you are either by sound, grass moving (I think?) and if she physically bumps into you, which is how she grabs off gens. If you hear the vacuum, get off so at least you'll take a hit and not get grabbed.

Iron will can help and you can get pretty tricky with any vault. Slow vaults, quick vaults into slow vaults, it can get pretty confusing for her.

But regardless my #1 tip by far is to remember to make a generous sacrifice to your luck-related deity of choice and making it part of your daily morning routine.

How are we all feeling about Spine Chill in terms of avoiding her?

I have been chased A LOT in this game, and I actually hate being chased now. I much prefer the hide and elude playstyle.

I am going to try swapping WMI for SC, I hope it goes better.

Try stopping your scratch marks at multiple hiding spots because when she stops phasing, she will have to do a lot of searching! :)

Here's an example of what I mean:

Notice where I stopped running at, I could've hidden anywhere and she has to check every spot just in case. I wouldn't lie to you — she didn't find me because she was taking forever to find me and gave up.

Iron will is good for every game..... Q&Q is also good because then you can mind, manipulate your scratch marks better when fake vaulting a window or pallet..... you wanna attempt your best to confuse the spirit so randomly spinning to spread your scratch marks around and then running in the direction you came can work.... there are other things that you can try just be random and confuse the spirit that can work...
