I just want to talk about it.
Because I dont understand something.
And I just want ask player and the devs.
- Dying Light: You become obsessed with one survivor. Your obsession gains a 33% action speed bonus to unhooking and healing other survivors. Each time you hook a Survivor other than the Obsession, if the Obsession is alive, gain a token. If the Obsession is alive, all Survivors who are not the Obsession get a 2%/2.5%/3% penalty to Repair, Healing and Sabotage speed for each token.
Why is this perk useless, if the Obsession isnt alive?
As killer, you work hard for this perk.
As survivor, you just get healing speed for free.
Dont get me wrong, I rly like this new Dying Light.
Im just confused about this.
STBFL and PWYF keep all tokens, if the obsession dies.
But this 3 Myers perk lose the tokens.
Shouldnt the mechanic the same by all 3 perks?

You become obsessed with one survivor. Your obsession gains a 30% action speed bonus to healing. Each time you hook a Survivor , if the Obsession is alive, gain a token. All Survivors get a 3%/4%/5% penalty to Repair, Healing and Sabotage speed for each token. You can earn up to 6 Tokens.
The Obsession lose the increased healing speed, if the killer get 6 tokens.

You do make a valid point , the buff to the obsession is risky as is without making you give them free gen pressure too..it takes a long time to build up as well

Agreed. It doesn't even affect of the speed of the obsession you have to keep alive for the perk to be doing anything at all.

Bloody heck I didn't think they could make Dying Light any worse but they somehow did
Genuinely disappointed with the perk changes for killers. Survivors get an epic rework for Left Behind and a really sweet buff to Dark Sense that makes it way better than Rancor is for killers
All killers got was Dying Light

Can you imagine how fast the healing rate would be if you had either a "We'll Make It, Botany Knowledge" and or a med-kit?
It will be a free insta-heal, that's frigging busted. Dying Light was already the killer's left behind equivelent
Now it's less viable than Monstrous Shrine

I just made my version of Dying Light.
But I must say, the devs created an interesting perk.
Its trash in the current status, but its interesting.

They had to be careful with it because it can be pretty nasty while paired with Thana.

Apparently healing speed is capped at +100% speed, so they don't stack. Still kinda bs that the obsession isn't affected by the gen debuff.

Now its doing nothing.
And 2 perk slots for 1 effect should be strong.
Like Enduring and Spirit Fury.

I think it's fine, once the obsession is dead, the perk most likely already did some nice work for you. The only thing I would love to see is that you also get a stack for hooking your obsession. But 3% seems fine. I'm down for 4% as well, but only if it doesn't stack with other perks or addons, or if the devs add some cap for how much action speed of survivors can be decreased.

How is this perk fine?
You only can get 6 hooks * 3% = 18% for 3 survivor
And 1 survivor isnt affected and get a 33% buff.

What should happen is the obsession should also be affected but doesn't give any stacks this way it's fair

That's why I said it would be nice to have hooking the obsession also grant you a stack. I'm also not against increasing the percantage of action speed decrease to 4%, but only if there is a cap of how much you can decrease acion speed of survivors. Otherwise, Using both Thana and Dying Light, especially on Plague would be too much. Or Freddy, who also has addons that slow down the game even more. If you have the ability to slow down the game too much, at some point all you have to do is burn through all pallets and then survivors are pretty much screwed.

So lets just say the perk combination can give you ~40%.
It still have some problems.
- its rly hard on the start of the match
- if the obsession heal the other survivors, then the perks combination isnt rly good
- you are using 2 perk slots for 1 effect
- survivor healing perks can counter it
If you cap the action speed, then it should be in both ways.
Increased and decreased.

I mean I'll be using Dying Light & Thanathpobia on my Plague since no one likes to cleanse and everyone will be one shot.
The penalty will just keep adding up. Either stay broken and one shot while doing gens slower or cleanse and give me my Corrupt. ☺

Well, the perk encouraged tunneling the obsession, maybe for old players (as me) it's fine but as the new chapter is comming and, some new people to the game. And those kind of attitudes can bother a lot the new players because their lack of experience and perks, making the game less attractive to new buyers.

Rename this perk to "LIVING LIGHT" since you don't get ######### when they're dead or just rework the rework of this perk.

Well sure, but Dying Light just gets stronger and stronger with every hook, so it's really good later on. Plus that's where the killer has an easier time to pressure gens, since there are less gens left.
But having the action speed decrease to be too high will not be good for the game's balance. Even if you use two perk slots. I would say a cap of 30% would be fine. If it gets too high, it won't be fun to go against at all, and all killers will have to do at that point is brun through all pallets because they have enough time to do so.
I mean sure, there can also be a cap for the increased action speed.

But if the obsession dc's early enough to not get much use out of this perk, that just screws over the survivor team much more than Dying Light would.

Because the survivor get 33% buff.
So you just using 2 perk slots for a very low effect.
And the perk combination is trash, if the obsession dies.
Its like:
"I killed a survivor! And I get punished for it...."

I mean, it's token based. They never specified how much tokens you actually get.
I really hope it persists after Death. Also it's not a obsession tunnel perk anymore as you get rewarded for going after literally anyone else.

That's not a fair way to compare though. Percentage values are different when decreasing or increasing action speed. For example, 100% increased action speed is just 2x the action speed. 100% decreased action speed is 0% speed, so no progress at all. I mean all Dying Light does is giving the Obsession a free Botany Knowledge perk. That perk certainly isn't bad, but it's also not that bif of a deal.
30% is quite a lot though, 50% decreased repair speed for example means you take twice as long to repair a gen. So 160 seconds instead of 120. 30% probably increases the time to repair a generator fully from 80 to a bit more than 120 seconds. That's quite a lot, and people aren't the biggest fan of longer gen times anyways. Killer have to meet certain conditions, so it's not terrible, but having these values being able to get too high isn't good. Maybe 35%, 40% at the very most. I personally feel 30% would be enough. The only thing this cap would really do is ensure that Freddy couldn't get too high values when also using his addons that slow down action speed, in addition to Thana and Dying Light.

In the PTB, its only 1 token ingame.
And the obsession isnt affected by this perk.
So you can just hook 3 people and the obsession can rush gens.
Its an interesting idea, but it has too many downsides for the killer.

Wait... Then why make it token based? And why say "Everytime you hook a survivor, gain a token"?

The math is kinda stupid in DbD, because the coding.
But still.
The killer using 2 perk slots and the perks are only usefull after 5-10 min.
And then 3-5 gens are repaired.
And I think 30% isnt enough, because you can clearly see it on the current Dying Light with 25%.
The number is high, but it hasnt much ingame pressure.
Because the stupid DbD math.

You only get 1 token for every hooked survivor, but not the obsession.
So you can get 9 hooks, but then only the obsession is alive.
And the perk doesnt affect the obession.
So you can only get 6 hooks with everyone alive.
Thats 18% for 3 survivors.
Thats 2% more than Thana.

Btw, I updated my version of Dying Light.
So Dying Light has a limit, but the killer will get faster the debuff.
Compared to the all Dying Light, its just 5% better.

Remember the Obsession can change so even if the obsession dies its possible to still get the benefits when another becomes it.
If anything it has more value for tunneling and eating DS which is a bit strange as it goes against what DS is designed to do be anti tunnel.

These changes are much better and discourages poor/toxic gameplay (i.e. "Oh I found the obsession. Time to hard camp them and make sure they have no fun this game so I can activate my perk like a dick" which is how basically everyone who used Dying Light played

@RakimSockem You realize the trade off for a 3% decreased action speed token is allowing the obsession to heal 33% faster and if he dies, you lose all your tokens
Thanatophobia reduces action speeds by 4% for injuring somebody to a max of 14% if all four survivors are injured
You have to get 4 hooks to match the Thana slow-down, you would get for simply hitting all four survivors. Meaning it will take till the end of the game before you get any truly meaningful slow-down with Dying Light by then there will probably be only 2-3 gens left
Which is The same time constraint problem Dying Light has always suffered from ontop being a bloody awful no fun perk that was awful to fight against. Now it's just bland to use. If I needed consistent slow-down, I'd rather just use Thana, Butcher, Corrupt, heck even Ruin

So then use Thana? It's what I've always used anyway.
Dying Light has always been a dumb perk anyway because it encourages killers to face camp or just hard camp the hell out of one person which is boring (for the survivor on hook more than anyone else)

It seems pretty garbage as a rework.
Takes too long to build up the effect, mediocre effect at maximum. Obsession is not affected but you HAVE to keep them alive.
This seems like an attempt to make the changing obsession perks relevant, but this ######### just isn't worth a slot.

Sounds good. But again, just imagine a Plague with Thana and Dying Light, if she got both perks to max the survivos are repairing and healing at half speed, which would be too much in my opinion.
Just imagine having Sloppy Butcher as well. I know that's three perk slots used. But at that point you wouldn't need any other perks.

Was the point of the obsession completely obscured to devs now? A high value you need to protect(or kill). When Laurie was released she has selfish perks that made the game more cat and mouse mind games with the killer as they feed off each other’s the whole point of object ,sole survivor, and decisive. The whole Myers dlc. Do something useful and change useless perks like oh I’m not sure......Hangman’s trick,,Unrelenting,Insidious,Play with your food,(killers)
Boil over,Slippery meat,Up the ante,Sole survivor,Leader,Premention,Vigil. Legit vigil can be so useful if it lessens the effective of status effects and recovers 23% faster.Yes 23 is an odd number but it makes the perk much more effective and adds variety.

At that point you've either won or its end game anyway..plus cleansing vs plague is still very doable so that would destroy that strat immediately

i reread the notes and had to get some solid headspace for this clownery it’s a worse thana because of the slow build up which isn’t very useful.I mean it’s still 12%+ but that’s if you can catch the #########😭
