Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Wendigo is also likely after addition of Demogorgan

Just saying that in Until Dawn the Wendigo actually used meathooks to hang one or two of its victims.

I did imagine that the Wendigo could have a pounce ability but demogorgan has that.

I think it would be a fun addition.

This isn't intended to push this idea top of the pile. This thread is more to show those who initially slammed me and many others about the idea of having a Wendigo killer that you were wrong.

Would be a cool wintertime dlc just saying.

Could finally be the first 'Small' killer.

A power which is made up of 'Predator vision' where Survivor movement can be sensed. This being recent footprints and recently interacted object.

A blind killer would be interesting at the very least. Survivor movement could cause a white aura of themselves to become visible. Within a 16m radius the Wendigo might sense a Survivors blood if injured and can be tracked. 0 terror radius.

I think it's an option. It's guaranteed to be scary and just look at how well they've done sounds with demogorgan.

Who knows? Maybe they need a few originals before another license. The Wendigo as far as I know could be an original.

Whenever someone brings up the wendigo people say that Hag is a wendigo because she ate her victims, or at least I think she did.

But anyway, a wendigo would be really cool in this game because wendigos can mimic people to lure them to their doom, just like when I fell for it in the mine and got that blonde killed by opening the hatch :(

With that in mind, the wendigo could have a power to imitate other Survivors. Gold Express has a Killer who imitates other Survivors and it looks like it works but of course would never work against a SWF group. I would love a wendigo, it's a cannibalistic tortured human with supernatural abilities and is perfect for DBD. Someone got lost in the woods on cursed land and ate their friends and then became a wendigo before being taken by the Entity.

Speaking of gold express Dbd is desperate for Dancing Girl as Survivor. I'll also take Godfather

Wendigo or a Lycan would be nice. Been wanting a Lycan that can shapeshift for a while. Just trying to think of how they could balance a shapeshifter to where SWF communication can’t render it useless.

A funny argument would be "omg how could you have (insert character here) as a Survivor they died" guarantee people would still say that however dumb it sounds 😄

Emily? But she’s so mean. Personally think Sam should be the Survivor. Her and Mike played the biggest roles throughout the story

Business wise I think Until Dawn as a licence has been and gone unfortunately. It's not so big like it was on release. Unless they get a really good deal on the license I feel Until Dawn is a thing of the past. They can do a more complete job by making it an original and being inspired by until dawn would be a good idea.

I think an Until Dawn cosmetic pack would be a really fun way of a license. Have the cosmetic pack drop alongside the (original) Wendigo killer

Emily is one of those that just annoys everybody and we try to just kill her off quickly yet the game knows that and makes you wait until pretty far in the game to die as her. .

I'm interested in the supermassive anthology their making. Next installment is Little Hope in 2020. The trailer had Outlast 2/Friday 13th/Nightmare on elm Street vibes so maybe something interesting can crop up from these games.

  • AshleyWB

No. The hag is a measley old lady. The Wendigo is a creature which cracks skulls and mounts walls.

My first time playing through Until Dawn, I was scared. Second time, not so much. If the wendigo were to be added though, it'd probably become another killer that actually scares me

    In that case:

The pig is similar to trapper but with head traps.

Trapper is similar to Myers except without an M1 instadown

    Hillbilly is similar to bubba

Huntress is similar to the golden spear throwing macho man of Timbuktu oops I've said too much... well you get the picture

If they do a Wendigo it won't be a Until Dawn chapter. Why would they do a chapter on a video game that is exclusive to one console? Seems silly to me and wouldn't attract as big of an audience as doing a game that a higher majority of people have played.

Okay Ashley, I like you, and your posts are a lot of the time interesting. And Until Dawn is an interesting game, but think for a moment. Until Dawn was EXCLUSIVE to the PS4. Do you really want another Bill situation where PC and Xbox players can't get Hannah (or any other Wendigo, but Hannah's the only real important one) because Sony won't give any rights to others? That's one of the reasons why Man of Medan is so lackluster. Until Dawn had a massive studio helping to pay for it. Man of Medan doesn't.

And the Hag... stop denying what the facts are. She was starving, got desperate, and ate people! What turns you into a Wendigo? Starvation, desperation, and CANNIBALISM! It's one of the defining traits in the ORIGINAL MYTH. Just because she doesn't look like a Wendigo like you know one, doesn't mean she isn't. And besides, have you actually seen what Wendigos are SUPPOSED to look like?

    image.png

Quite different. I'd personally prefer the original to Hannah, maybe give us a Native American Survivor as well to make it more thematic. Shrink it a bit though, since they are supposed to be 15 feet tall.

I mean take what eventually happened with Bill. He made his way over to all platforms once an agreement was made.

No-one wants a chapter exclusive to a particular platform not even the Devs.

It's a while since until dawn so a Wendigo would make a good original killer idea.

Agreements make things allowed to happen, dbd in my eyes are in the strongest position they've ever been in terms of being able to acquire whatever rights they deem worthy to be in dbd.

I think Sony would actually really like to pair up with dbd to encourage more people from other platforms to play until dawn.

Dbd should take inspiration of design from until dawn rather than waste resources on that license itself.

Original killer with 2 different maps would be really good. Could even fit in the mount Ormond realm

In man of means defense I think the price represents what you get. The game has a clear gimmick which would be too long to stretch into an until dawn length game.

Lower budget for a lower price game which is part of an anthology seems fine to me. I get if man of Medan wasn't to your taste, same here boats are kinda bland and the plot was kinda meh but you never know Little Hope could be way more complex and engaging.

And thank you for the compliment. I also think my posts are interesting a lot of the time😄.

I'd love to see this, but I don't think Sony would just let Behavior use it without it being platform specific.

Nice, maybe the deer antlers could be a cosmetic and base Wendigo just a tall extremely thin and skeletal creature. Nice find.

  • AshleyWB
    AshleyWB Member Posts: 4,061

The legion teasers a while back actually made a Wendigo look possible for that chapter. I think it would have been a hit.

It was like the breakdown of the legions humanity and when he resorted to cannibalism by getting snowed in a ski lodge due to an avalanche he had to eat his fellow skiiers to survive.

It was the perfect opportunity for a Wendigo and I'm sure the Devs kinda know that. With the skeletal rig now suitable for a Wendigo maybe they can actually look into it.

As much as I would love a Wendigo(I really would) as a killer, people have hit the nail on the head already because the Hag was inspired by Wendigos with a heavy dash of witchcraft. Also, I hate being this guy, but for the people that think Wendigos are tall deer people, that's not their original look. Please give this video a watch from what looks to be a great up incoming channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guiuXIMZ2vE

As someone who is only aware of the Wendigo from until dawn. I'm glad that there seems to be way more to it's appearance than I first imagined. I am tempted to read up on even more on them to make the need for a Wendigo more fitting.

    Origins of the Wendigo

The wendigo is a demon, but some wendigos can be created from humans who have been corrupted with greed and the hunger for human flesh. These victims are often transformed into wendigos themselves (often from the touch or possession of the beast) after they give in to their carnivorous desires. With every victim these new wendigos devour, they grow proportionately in size. It is said that wendigos have the ability to grow to a size that is unfathomable by the human mind and that the sight of a wendigo who has devoured many souls is enough to make the human heart freeze in terror.

Although a wendigo is able to exist in the physical world, it is actually a spirit form. Like many spirits, the wendigo has the ability to become invisible, fly, become undetectable, or possess humans.

The wendigo is extremely selective with those that it chooses to possess. Most often, the creature will only possess people who are starving, who are gluttonous, who have had a craving for human flesh before, or who are greedy and have tendencies to display their wealth openly. Anyone who becomes possessed with a wendigo spirit will become wendigos themselves and will continue to exist as a wendigo until the spirit is exorcised or they are killed. However, as wendigos have incredible strength and are able to move with extreme strength and power, it is highly unlikely that a wendigo could be killed.

    Common Wendigo Practices

The wendigo is a ruthless and savage predator. It has heightened senses that allow it to tune into every inch of its hunting grounds (which often extend for many miles on end). Its sense of sight, smell, and hearing are so impressive that it is able to track its prey and know the exact movements of its target even if it is many miles away.

Although the wendigo is always seeking to fill a deep hunger, it enjoys taking its time before a kill. It will often stalk its prey for hours on end and will reveal its presence in small ways every so often in order to make its prey fearful. A person who is being stalked by a wendigo will often feel a growing sense of dread that they are being watched or followed. The wendigo is able to sense their fear and paranoia grow with each heartbeat. This brings the malevolent spirit a sense of excitement and anticipation for the kill.

It is said that the final warning a wendigo will give before striking is to unleash a blood-curdling howl in the harsh winter winds. The warning does little to help victims – by the time they hear it, it is already too late.

Lifted it from a website called mythology .net or something.

It oddly doesn't work on any other page.

Sounds like a serious spook which actually fits dbd super well.

    Potential Wendigo power

    Wendigo Fever

Among other powers of the wendigo, it is thought that the creature is able to cause an illness called wendigo fever. This disease is thought to be one of the ways the wendigo is able to obtain victims to eat. It is said to start with a strange and disturbing smell. The only person who can detect the foul smell is the infected person. When the victim falls asleep they will be plagued with terrible nightmares that will cause them to wake up and weep from fear. When they wake, they will begin to feel a terrible burning sensation in their legs and feet which causes them to run from their homes shrieking. All of the victims will inevitably run to the woods, shedding their clothing as they go. These victims are never seen again and are assumed to have been eaten by the wendigo.

Could be like paranoia from being alone. If you are alone for long periods you become dizzy and see hallucinations of the Wendigo stalking you in the distance. Survivors could breathe rapidly making them more audible when under the effect of paranoia.

I think McCote was indicating maybe we could get the Xenomorph if they can secure the rights.

Other than that I was thinking what else could the demogorgan skeletal rig be used for... A Wendigo has been requested so many times over the years and I think the Devs finally have the capability to pull it off.

They've done a really good job with sound in the ST chapter and I think A Wendigo chapter would capitalise on that really well.

I also think it would be insane if dbd did their own version of 'O Death' the theme song of until dawn. Would be incredible and really funny in a genius way.

Imagine dbd menu music with actual words spoken in it.

Also the ' O Death' song isn't owned by Sony and theres a lot of covers of it. It's a really old song i think so they aren't gonna be too demanding if it requires copyright talks. Could be an issue for content creators getting copyright claimed though. I don't know entirely how that works with songs where permission is granted.

got this from the wiki I know it a wiki but still

The Hag seems to be heavily based on the Wendigo, an Algonquian myth that says those who commit cannibalism will become possessed by spirits, deformed and eventually turn insane. This is suggested by The Hag's appearance, Memento Mori, backstory, and a few Hag-related Unlockables in the game which talk about cannibalism.

no where say witch tho the name hag normal name for a witch.
