He's suggesting that using the tombstone is kind of tryhard, and boring and unfun to play against. Which are all valid points, but nothing to insult someone over, since as you said, you're perfectly within your rights to just have a bit of fun with a rare add-on once in a while.
He just had a bad time and you're the obvious person to blame.
