Why is being insta downed while sliding over a pallet being chainsawed even a thing?

Why Billy can still maintain the charge on the chainsaw after a stun, entity blocker still doesn't work properly, and so on?

But, i think the situation you described is basically the same one where a trapper picks you up while eing trapped, but at the same moment you free yourself. It's a limbo between being over the safe pallet zone (hence the pallet break), and yet not being (hence the instadown).

it's a game mechanic that makes absolutely no sense as to why it's in the game

Not that crazy to think that if a killer is swinging a chainsaw down on top of a pallet, that if someone is sliding over that pallet then they would be hit. Same goes with hitting thru a window, of course a killer can reach thru it, if it is open for someone to jump thru then it is open for a killer to reach thru.

Ah yes why is getting hit with a chainsaw an instant down NO MATTER WHAT, yes a very good question and one with a simple answer; it's a chainsaw.

I use this a lot when people complain about window hits. Same concept. Put your arm through a window. Did you reach the thing out of it? Add a weapon. Extra reach. Boom.

Are you SERIOUSLY asking why you get downed if a chainsaw smashes through a pallet WHILE you are ON TOP of said pallet? Sorry to break it to you but if I manage to outplay a survivor like THIS:

The survivor deserves to get downed by all means.

I think it's fine, like many others here do.

  • I dont understand how you can't fathom the concept of being hit when on top of a pallet when it's being chainsawed.

My problem is when you are clearly landing on the other side.

This is the same problem I have when you get hit through a pallet... you can be on the other side already but because you haven’t come to a full stop you get hit.

This is a problem obviously regardless of your bias.

This "problem" is a result of connection delay. Try to hit Meg in the tutorial towards the end of her pallet vault animation. The hit won't connect if she's "visibly" on the other side of the pallet.

Those kinda hits will get even worse once the dedicated servers drop. People will get hit even when they're already running after vaulting pallets/windows.

Same reason survivors think windows are a forcefield.

Good. I’m sure there will be another year of complaining about bs hits.

Can’t really time your next move when you got connection/latency/overall hit box issues in the way.

This is a fundamental issue with the game and the fact that some people think that because a “survivor” brings it up means it has no merit baffles me considering it is a problem that occurs on both sides.

Freddy don't need teleport. With his long arms he can hit you from a gen to another one.

OP generally complains about getting hit during the pallet slide animation. That's a legit hit in my book unless your feet clearly touched the ground on the other side of the pallet.

As for bs hits I think the main problem is the devs calculate every killer and survivor movement without any sort of "normal" delay. It's not an offline game yet everything is calculated like people were playing with 0 pings.

Perhaps they have to increase the speed of the "second half of vault animations" to make up for the typical delay so if you get hit it's definitely during the first half of the vault animation. What do you think?

No I understand getting hit while sliding/vaulting... that’s why I explained my own issue with it when you’re already on the other side.

Sometimes I wish they allowed us to see hitboxes just to see all the invisible parts that come into play when we get hit.

What do you mean by typical delay?

It's all about the ping baby! The higher your ping the longer it takes for what the killer sees to be what you see. The game is a peer to peer connection with the killer being the host, if you aren't connecting well with the killer (killer has bad internet, plays on wifi) your timing will be off and you have to mentally compensate for that. It all comes down to how good you and the killers internet is and how well they connect to each other. I can connect to just about anyone here in the states and have a ping of 40-70ms but get me a killer from Spain and I'm avg. 200-400ms.

By typical delay I'm referring to hits that may connect at an average ping of 90 but not at a ping of 0 aka what devs probably use to calculate "appropriate" lengths of loops, vault durations etc.

When vaulting a pallet or window your character model's hitbox basically gets transfered from point A to point B to my understanding. However even at an "ok" ping of less than 100 this character hitbox may be transfered too slowly so even if you run a loop "correctly" the killer's hit will still connect at times due to the "typical" delay caused by pings that are within said "ok range".

The devs will probably have to adjust the vault animations at some point especially when the dedicated servers drop otherwise we'll see even crazier bs hits than what we're used to.

    @Yamaoka

So basically what is happening is the character moves but there is a delay on the invisible hit box?

The weird thing is sometimes weird hits happen even on good ping. I’ve seen it on killer stuns too... you throw a pallet down and they don’t get hit, they delay touch the pallet and get stunned seconds after...

Yeah not sure how dedicated servers did this time around but I heard they were pretty bad lol

Thats the funnist thing that can happen when playing billy.
