What does -rep and +rep even do?

Might sound like an idiot, but please enlighten me. Does -rep or +rep even do anything? Or is it just something people write in your steam comments, does it affect anything? Please don't bully me for not knowing this probably basic stuff. (Asking because there has been an wave of these comments on my Profile.)

    It's mostly related to trading on the Steam market for other games like CS:GO, Rocket League, or TF2 - games that have a third-party market that people buy or sell on. It's unrelated to this game.

    There's no built-in reputation system, and for the most part it means nothing. People can delete comments on their own profile at will, so even a bunch of +reps isn't necessarily a signal that they're a good trader, or player, etc. Especially when it comes to DBD - you're more likely to get people upset coming to put "-rep"s on your profile than a +rep. Some people like showcasing these; I keep my profile comments off because it's not worth my time to read them.

    TL;DR - It affects nothing. Don't worry about it.
