Should generator repair time be increased?
Gens seem to fly so fast these days, thoughts on upping the repair time? Perhaps ruin could be reworked alongside it to compensate?

Just thinking of ways to make ruin less of a necessity

the repair time is fine the way it is, we dont want this to be a M1 simulator for survivors.
though there has to be something new - and fun - added for survivors to do, in order to slow the game down.
like finding parts for the gens or completing little minigames before you are able to start working on the generator. stuff like that, that slows down the game but also doesnt make it boring.

Just increase repair time
I admit it's a bit short especially when 4 people are working on the same generator with prove thyself

My main concern is that repairing gens is already kinda boring, so just raising the gen times kinda makes it, like, more boring?

Increase gen repair time & rework ruin
Maybe not give gens a flat increase but add another objective to slow them down indirectly. Then nerf Ruin.

Gen repair time increasing won't make things better. They've already tried this. They need to bring in a new main objective to work on to deny genrush.

No. Rework the objectives instead.

Just increase repair time
An option for additional objectives should be added, but if those are my only choices I'll take gen time.

Generator repair isn't fun, it's just holding down a button. Definitely don't want to see the time it takes to do it increased. What the game needs is another mandatory objective, something fun for survivors to do.

I don't want to hold M1 longer than I must.

Just increase repair time
One of the main problems right now is gen speed. The main reason ruin is such a staple of the killer arsenal is because it is one of the only reliable ways to slow gen speed. If you make gens take longer then less people feel the need to run ruin and the diversity of builds will increase which is better for the health of the game in general

Increase the debuff for multiple survivors on a gen, allow 5% immediate regression for killer breaking the gen, or cause objectives to require parts to lengthen the repair progress. I'm a fan of regression myself.

You forget skill checks are dreaded by every new player. They exist to slow down repair time until a survivor becomes more practiced. Lately though if every match has hex ruin it gets old fast.
If you wanted an additional objective, why not make it finding something like a special totem and you get BONUS points for it, so if you skip if no points for the objective.
It wouldnt affect emblems being in the nature of a simple bonus like BPS.
At the same time, you could also have a thing the Killer could find on the map that gave them BONUS points. I say that in caps to make clear its optional and not mandatory to find the thing.

The problem is not gen speed but chase time.If a good survivor runs the killer for 5 minutes and the team is knows what they are doing and do gens then they all escape 80% of the time.

I'm kinda split on this issue.
I think one flaw is the drastic difference that one additional survivor makes. (80 sec. for one survivor - ~44 sec. for two survivors etc.).
While, especially without Ruin, gen speed is generally pretty quick, even with only one survivor working on it, a raw time increase seems unfitting, since repairing is not fun or engaging.
Ruin might be worth looking into, since its utility can be very incosistent at times.

Imo we need something other than gens to work on. Something to spice up survivor gameplay.

Increase gen repair time & rework ruin
ya is too fast

Rework it. As for now killers are losing 2/3 gens by the time they catch their first survivor in red ranks.
What i would do is :
- repair time longer by 25% until there are 4 gens left
- repair time longer by 15% until there are 3 gens left
- repair time longer by 5% until there are 2 gens left
- repair time normal until there are 1 gen left
- repair time faster by 5% until gates are powered
This way you make it easier on killer in the early game, and give them enough time to build pressure on the survivors. BUT survivor get rewarded for completing gens and especially for doing 4.

I think it would be better if survivors have more objectives than just gens.
If Behavior added some objectives for survivors I wouldn't change the repair speed.
However, I don't think this will happen in the near future, so it wouldn't be a bad idea for now if the gen repair speed is lowered a bit.

The only way they can increase repair time is maybe by making it slower for 3+ survivors on a gen.
As much as I would love it, they just simply cant increase gen repair time. Theyve done it before and it would be too much and too slow for survivors, but right now its too fast for a killer.
They really need to do something, though. Survivors waste time on totems sometimes which is nice but it isnt enough.
I feel like instead of gens they should increase the time to open the exit gate or something.

Repairspeed is fine, mapsize is not.

I think another mechanic needs to be introduced. Like.. .secondary switches that have to be flipped somewhere else when a generator is done or something. Something to encourage more running around/opportunity for killer chases.

Repair speed is fine. Instead, I think another required objective should be added.

No. Reduce maps size and nerf survivor gen speed perks, Like prove thyself, remove resilience gen speed buff etc.

This entirely. Extending the repair time on an already low-interractive action would make it more frustrating, so instead by adding an extra objective in game it works for killers by giving them a bit more time, but at the same time not making it boring or frustrating for survivors.
Also, the new objective probably doesn't need to be that time-consuming. There ought to be a good balance for both sides, and making a new objective that is exponentially long may not be as fair.

From a killer POV, the gens go too fast. From a survivor POV, it's super boring to repair them and it feels like they take a million years. I lean more toward a solution where survivors have more objectives than one where it takes longer to do gens.

Everyone and their dog runs Ruin anyway.

The time right now seems about fine. However, I agree with people saying that gens should maybe be more interactive.
What might be interesting is making gens take 100s default, but then have each map spawn Wrenches, Hammers, Screwdrivers, and... idk rolls of electrical tape randomly around. The killer can see tools carried by Survivors. Each unique tool makes it so you gain an additional eighth of a charge each second repairing. So... 0 tools = 100 seconds, 1 tool = ~88s, 2 tools = 80s, 3 tools = 72.7s, 4 tools = 66.67s. Survivors who die drop their tools and living Survivors can scavenge them if they need to.

Objective Changing - just tossing out some brainstorming ideas...
=>if not all totems are cleansed, all auras revealed when final generator is complete.
=>Add skill checks for totem cleansing
=>Generator count required decreases (if current required is higher than remaining survivor count + 1) if someone D/C after a minute added of Corrupt Intervention to all remaining generators. This reduces penalty to survivors if someone DC at beginning of match. Quitter bonus for killer should be higher, and quitter should count as full death and points for merciless killer and other challenges.
=>Require a special key to open the doors once powered that spawns randomly in two special chests once the gates are powered. They have no charges and stay behind when leaving

To increase gen times would just extend the tedium of sitting on a gen when a good looper is keeping the killer busy.
What I would like is higher penalties on missed skill checks and some regression when kicking a gen and slightly more regression speed.
I do agree that survivors need another objective to slow them down though.

There does need to be a fix to gen speeds, this is true, but upping repair time is just... not that fix.
