Backstory

No one knows where it came from. Inhabitants of the nearby village say one day it just... showed up. It began attacks travelers and tourists, and soon, even townsfolk. It ate their food, destroyed their houses. It ran everyone out of the small settlement in the middle of the jungle and continued to reside in the dark mass of trees. Though none of the escaped people have seen or heard of it since, they know it remains alive to this day. No predator could take that... thing out.

One night, while prowling it's usual hunting grounds, though everything in them had been eaten to extinction, the creature in the jungle sensed a dark force. It whispered promises of a limitless supply of food, more places to hunt, and eternal life. The starving beast could only agree, and began its new hunt.

Backstory:

After finishing college, Avery Adams went right back in, only as a teacher. He taught a variety of subjects, all with historical intent. Eventually, he decided to go on paid leave to do some field work. This proved to be a bad idea.

Along with his sister and multiple students, Avery traveled to a remote South American jungle to study the legends of an ancient civilization in the rainforest. After several days of study, he decided to go on a nighttime excavation session. Towards the end of this period, he caught a glimpse of what appeared to be buildings. Running towards the apparent village, Professor Adams failed to notice the fog rolling in from all around him. Emerging in the center of the settlement, he discovered that the entire place was decimated. Looking around him in shock, he dully registered the thick fog filling the area as an inhuman roaring could be heard in the distance.
