Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Anyone know what a "Proxy Camper" is?

Because, my friend got called a "Proxy Camper piece of dog #########" for playing the game as a Hill Billy.

What sort of new terminology have the survivors concocted this time?

I was mostly just curious if anyone else had been victim to such harsh verbal abuse as this.

It's a term survivors have imagined so they can feel better it's basically not camping but those survivors consider it as such

I think being called a proxy camper is a little less concerning than the "piece of dog #########" part.

    But maybe that's just me.

Don't know. Ignore the Decisive disciples and go on with your day.

i would imagine it to be a killer intent on tunneling people off the hook but trying to aave face by keeping a distance.  try-hards hate to be known for their actions.

They say it when you're in the proximity of the hanged survivor. They base it on the terror radius, even if it's the size of football field. Also doesn't matter if they trying to unhook the survivor and you're staying close because you know once you run after them you lose your hook. just salty pricks

    Proxy camping = proximity camping.

It’s just another form of camping. It’s when you stay in the area of the hooked person instead of regularly camping AKA literally standing by the hook. A lot of killers do this so when someone comes to save the hooked person, so they won’t be far and can just down them again.

What I consider proxy camping is hovering around a hooked survivor intentionally with intent to either one hook them or take advantage of someone going to unhook them. I occasionally do this when I'm having a rough game such as playing on Blood Lodge. If I'm going to be led through an acre of pallets the moment I leave the unsafe area with the hooked survivor I'm probably just going to leisurely hover around the current hooked survivor patrolling the area.

Regarding the term itself I've never heard anyone else actually use it. Proxy camping is just something my friends and I instinctively say as it's quicker than saying proximity camping.
