Revert matchmaking
Idk if it's just me but I want to go back how it was.
Yes maybe it wasn't fair for the killer me rank 4 joining the game of around rank 15 with a friend of mine no so good at the game.
But it wasn't preventing anyone to have some fun. Now if she join me we'll get queued higher ups and she stand NO chance. Most of the time killers notice she can't deal with loops and pallets has well has the others and then proceed to tunnel her.
I think it was much better when we higher ups were queued down rather than low rank queued up to highers ranks.
Not only could the other low ranks see my type of gameplay and maybe learn one or two things. It also allowed the killer to practice with a survivor not has easily killed has the others.
Am I the only one thinking that ?

Makes sense, it is more fair for everyone. why a pre with 1 or 2 red ranks should bully rank 15 killers?

I have this exact same issue @TheUnendingNightmare
1 -
Most people trying to swf have this issue.
So, this was done probably to entice people with higher rank, to buy the game yet again (making a "smurf" account) and then play the game with their lower/newplayer friend. People actually do this. So low tier killers still are playing and matching against rank 1's they just don't realize it.
Fun = paying more. Didn't you know? /s

You say it wasn't preventing anyone to have some fun, but that was indeed the case, for the killer. Especially if he got bullied by people at high ranks, because he didn't stand a chance since he doesn't have the skill and experience to go against survivors of that skill level.
Before it was the low rank killer who in some cases had to go up against multiple high ranks survivors who he stood no chance against. And if those high rankers were geeky weirdos who like to bully weaker killers, the killer player would have had an miserable time.
Now it's if anything the survivor player who might end up not having fun. At least the survivor player can't really get bullied by multiple players at once. It would be nice if there were a way to find a middleground though.

Forcing people in groups to play at higher ranks should be the better option, i sometimes play with friends that were higher rank then me and i just do stuff in the background stealthing my way around doing gens. I'm pretty much on gen duty or breaking totems while they deal with the killer.

There's a reason why other games just don't allow friends whose matchmaking ranks are too far apart to team up in ranked games.
1 -
That's simply not true. What Games are you talking about ? Literally every single mp games I play allow for different ranks to queue together.
0 -
As someone else has pointed me towards, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends.
0 -
Overwatch, paladin, f13, Smite, etc.
All allow it.

A quick search for Overwatch shows that friends of too far apart rank cannot play in ranked games together, so that's one out of the way.
EDIT: My research shows me that Paladin restricts and eventually just forbids your ability to team up with friends in ranked as you climb the ranks.

I think the balancing should just be reworked. Not a single medium value like rank 1 + rank 10 survivor makes a rank 5 killer, not a min/max approach like it is/was. More like, take into account how many people are below or above the average rank, higher ranks weigh more than lower ranks or something like that.
Actually there will never be a balancing on SWF that is fair for both sides and all 5 players. Simple as that. I mean, you know Rocket League? How would you balance this between players with 100 hours or 1000 hours gametime? Maybe this makes it clearer as the "skill" difference is more obvious, to see what an imbalanced team needs to deal with.
And on another note, I know people who tend to let weaker people stay in game longer and go for the stronger (if in reach at that time). Just because they seem to be less experienced and a lesser threat, like they tend to heal more often than to spam gens. And also regarding to have the less experienced survive for the hatch game, to have better chances to get a 4k. Just to put a different view to the table

Killer is not a person.

Send links bc I play all the time with my bronze friends and I'm master rank. So idk where you found that info but it's clearly fake or something is clearly wrong.

People de-pip anyway to bully lower ranks as it is. However, I do agree. I don't wanna vs a rank 1 killer because I'm que'd with a red rank. But it's also not fun for some red ranks who actually got there with skill (and not dumb luck) because they almost never get caught in chases by a baby killer, there's no challenge for them which is what they probably want. I would rather something in the middle, average out the levels, something. If you have a rank 2 and a 17, pick a number in the middle.

I believe that's how it worked prior to the matchmaking changes.
0 -
Ah, I assumed it was they based it off the lowest rank before the change (least that's what I saw quite a bit of the time if i actually looked but i usually didn't pay attention each and every match with friends).
Eh, oh well. Either way, one of those would be better than forcing new players with friends who have had the game longer to play with greatly skilled players.

Overwatch: https://overwatch.fandom.com/wiki/Competitive_Play
"There are also skill rating restrictions for Competitive grouping.
- Players who are queueing for their placement match are unable to group up with players who are in Diamond tier and above.
- Players who are in Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond tier are unable to group up with other players which have a skill rating difference of more than 1000.
- etc. etc."
Paladins: https://paladins.gamepedia.com/Ranked
Bronze Silver Gold Platinum Ranks may team up in groups of five, Diamond Master Grandmaster ranks may team up in groups of two, and Diamond players are allowed to queue up with Platinum players.

Honestly idk that much about paladin but like I said idk what they mean on overwatch bc even when you are actually playing competitive and not Quick plays, ranks on both teams are all randoms or they sure do look random.

I am going purely by what my research tells me. If you wanna dispute it, I'm gonna have to see something to dispute it.
In the meantime, I don't want to see matchmaking go back to the old way.
0 -
Wait no yeah I just read exatcly there's no restrictions for quickplays! So why should there be one in DbD which doesn't even have a proper competitive mode ?
0 -
The ranked mode is the competitive mode.
Now if you're suggesting DbD adds a casual queue, I wouldn't be against that as long as the game can survive the player base fracturing.
0 -
DbD doesn't even separate solo players from groups so no it isn't.
0 -
Honestly this would be the best of both world imo.
Casual play and competitive needs to be separated.
0 -
I would be on board with that on paper. My one concern, as I mentioned, is splitting the player base. Does adding two separate queues result in one or both queues not having enough players and having super long matchmaking times?
0 -
Not really most games have separate queues and beside "Quick" play.
Usually "competitive" is for pre-made groups.
Coincidentially this could balance the SWF problem.

If you wanna SWF with some lvl15 fresh player as a red rank survivor, you should tell your baby how to avoid killer and maybe take a hit and try to distract.
Even now, I matched lvl2 SWF team as a lvl6 killer, so the matchmakeing is good enough for both sides.
Stop complaint, SWF already grants you enough advantage over killer since you can share so much information with your team, do you think it fair?
0 -
Well yes. If anything mic should be an in-game feature. Like that's cheating to be next to someone and Say "hey watch it my premonition triggered the Killer is coming"
...
0 -
I am a solo survivor and this change has definitely screwed me over at times because a SWF will join the lobby with like two rank 15 survivors in a red rank killer lobby. You can just imagine how those games go for me lol. Still, I'll take these nuisances over screwing over a yellow rank killer with unbalanced SWF matchmaking.
