Should I feel bad for de-ranking as a Survivor and is it bannable?
The most obvious issue with de-ranking is of course screwing over your teammates who are actively trying to play the game by cutting down their survival rate in half with only 3 of them left, I get this guilt feeling everytime I done it (The method I do use when I done it is just run around looking for the killer then gesturing them to come to me just so they can hook me and then I struggle to second stage and give up, I never use pallets or try to lure the killer to the other survivors.)
On the other hand queues for me (Switch player in the USA) when dbd first came out on switch I reached middle of purple or red ranks which then the queues became unbarable to wait at least 20 or 30 minitues so I'm paranoid of being stuck their again, so I only been doing this to stay around the green ranks (12 to 9) and also for the upcoming blight event just to have decent queues.
I guess then the question comes down to is should I value myself getting to play more vs my teammates who want an actual game?

It is fine if you literally can't find lobbies or if they take ages but try not to screw your teammates. You are basically making your teammates play a 3v1 match which is very annoying.

I'm glad to of done it as little as I can to stay at the green ranks, otherwise I am just gonna wait to play until the event starts then I'll accept myself to the purple and red ranks.

It is bannable, but the burden of proof is difficult. You are effectively screwing over other survivors turning the game into a 3v1 (which the match cancellation feature was created to avoid such matches) and they will no doubt remember you later. You even screw over the killer to some degree by denying them more than one hook.
You can still play the game and de-rank easily without screwing over others (as much).

I'd say it depends on the method and frequency. If you are deliberately playing meme/stupid builds to maximize your chance of getting killed, you are fine. If you are just letting the Killer get you so you can just die on the hook repeatedly, that can land you in hot water if your teammates think you are just screwing them over on purpose and thus report you.

With the way pipping works in this game I feel sometimes even if I do barely anything (Just being chased by the killer and doing just one gen and escaping) I will get a pip, any advice on how to play normally while still de-pipping?

So would a unhook build (Slippery Meat and Up The Anti) be an example of a meme build? Or would I need to go more extreme?

You screw your teammates out of rescue points, (unhook/wglf stacks), and killer getting hooks, I.e. if people can't pip there's even less people at those ranks.
You also screw the team with time, as you don't even attempt a chase. So, the teammates can work on gens.
I know people who will DC, they play the entire match, get to the exit gate and DC out. Getting into a game just to not play it, seems just about the same amount of wasted time as it is waiting for a lobby. It can be possible to do very little and not safety, but it depends.
However, I know matchmaking can/does suck. And I know it is worse/better in some countries vs others and such. Especially with rank resets and people not getting to that rank again yet etc. And on other consoles I have no idea either what it's like.
I understand if it's really god awful, people have to do what they have to do.
In short I think you should feel bad, depending on how you are doing it. But as with disconnecting it only is bannable if you do it so many times within so many games. And suicide on hook, is not bannable at all.
EDIT: Also, if you wanted you could bring in a item and give it to a teammate. ex. Key/commodious etc. Something to help them as you know what you are planning on doing. Maybe even some streamers. shrug

I'd say try just sabotaging hooks and cleansing totems. You'll help your team by preventing Noed from being in play, and breaking hooks will keep them off of them.

Just run around doing bones. At least you're "helping" your team before dying.

Thanks of the advice btw everyone, I will for now on do bones and try to sabo hooks whenever I de-rank

I had a friend who was deranking, and what he'd do is finish a full game, help out his team and DC.
That's however bad for you if you keep it up as it can result in a ban.
I'd suggest do gens, by try to take the killer's attention from others if they're being chased. Don't make chases last too long

Oh yes and doing totems/hooks is a way you can derank and somewhat be helpful

Well the first mistake is escaping at the end - if the gates are open and you manage to die, best you get is silver unbroken. Let other people do the saves - unless there is no one else. You can do a gen - bones will contribute to emblems now, so maybe just go into chases.
Yeah if you get chased the whole time and make sure you die at endgame, you probably will de-pip.

Honestly if you absolutely have to do it that sort of way you should try to do it in a 4man SWF. At least then they're either doing it too or they know you're gonna do it.
Can still be lame for the killer, but at least you cut down on the amount of people you screw over as much as possible.

If it were me I’d ban you, #########

This is exactly why I only play 4 man SWF now. OP, your playstyle is frustrating for solo survivors and leads to more SWF groups for the killers to wade through. You should just uninstall the game since you aren't really playing it by dinking around like a potato anyway.

DCing or suiciding early just results in a ruined game for 4 other people.

You can easily depip by just doing 2 gens and nothing else. There is no reason to screw over your team.
