These DC's NEED PUNISHMENTS
Sick and tired of the dc's. Just had a game as Trapper on Badham. Had a 50/50 start but the first downed guy INSTANTLY dc'd. Sigh, ok whatever. The second guy got caught in one of my traps after he unhooked a survivor and yep...dc'd. The last two who were, for whatever reason, being ultra toxic from the start managed to get 2 gens done and upon entering into a chase with one I was getting teabagged, clicked, emoted etc etc. Got a hit in and the stupid fool walked right into a trap as he was looking behind him. Went to pick him up, dc'd. The last one was teabagging by the hatch, knowing damn well I was just about to get an 'Entity Displeased' or at the very most a 'Brutal Killer' and jumped in. Of course....OF COURSE I then have to suffer the post game chat shenanigans. If you were one of the survivors you know what you can go do. Dc's are absolute bs for BOTH sides and it's getting out of hand. Devs, PLEASE do something someday.

All DC are annoying and both sides are equally guilty.
I am all for stronger punishment. Something along the lines of you get 1 free DC a day (bad connection does happen) and 2nd DC gets you an hour ban. It would just escalate from there.
I also believe rewarding players for good sportsmanship would work. Maybe if you have less then 3 DCs a season you get auric cells, extra shards and a couple bloody party streamers as a reward at rank reset :)
I'm also extremely tired of DC...

@FancyMrB "Both sides are equally guilty" - I have a feeling many of these disconnectors are the same people.... just playing different roles.
But let's be serious...survivors dc WAY more often.
It is ruining this game and hopefully the devs have some plan to reduce this trend.

DC punishments already exist according to Peanits and the Mods. I don't think they'd lie.
Hopefully the new features coming with the servers later on will help.

I feel that emblems need to be adjusted for each and every DC if not force a minimum safety pip. Mitigate the damages caused by DC's.
Right now, with dedicated servers more people are being kicked without wanting to actually DC. So that sucks.
I do think once there are rank rewards, this will be less of an issue.

Tottaly agree, there is nothing that breaks my game experince so bad as quitters do. I wish we could get timeouts for people like that or at least a system in which people who DC are matched with other DCers.

Why is everyone promoting and demanding to ban people from the game ? For a game they bought with real money in the real world over losing virtual points in a game they think they deserved ?
Why not remove a certain amount of perks and add ons as a "punishment" for a DC ? Imagine losing one level of perks of all characters for an intentional DC and the amount of time it takes to get those back - i think that would have a much better educational effect on people...
And why even punish people for it ? There may be reasonable causes like network instability, playing over WLAN, mail delivery or whatever. Why not grant the other party the maximum points and pips possible for a disconnecting player ? Nobody would lose anything who was subject to a DC and there would be less reasons to complain. I am sure one could come up with a mechanic that would allow a certain compensation for the remaining survivors to offset a disconnecting team member as well. Less skillchecks for a certain time or more progress for excellent skill checks passed or less penalty for working together for 1-2 gens or something like that....

I actually lean towards sheldor's side of it: If a survivor dcs a killer gets a whopping 650? brutality points, probably the 2nd easiest category to get points in whilst losing: 600 minimum points in sacrifice ~300 in chasing and 600 in brutality (assuming person chooses to kill self on hook instead). Perhaps when they get their dedicated servers fully tuned up they can give varying amounts (to both sides) depending on how early a dc happens.

Beside Costume, Shrine Secret..perhaps we should have another shop "DC".
You have 3 DC token, each time you DC, you lost 1 token. If you're out of token, you're unable to Search for games. Everytime Shrine Secret reset (once per week), the DC gained up by 1 token. You can buy a DC token with 300k blood point.
I think...this will solve the problem. The Dev dont need to check report for DC proof. With this system will help us, and Dev themselves.

Anyone involved in a match with someone who DCs should automatically safety pip.
I personally would make it count as a hook for killers and a safe unhook for the survivors left behind (because they're probably gonna get it up the pooper once they're a teammate down). Then a free 1k BP at the end of the match, calculated post-match (so it goes over the 32k cap), for everyone who finishes.
And the DCer should get an automatic timeout of no less than thirty minutes.
But that's me.

I don't think there should be "DC tokens" because bad internet is a real issue I have been disconnected from matches I was winning and the killer didn't DC I just lagged out. Why not just create a salt mine where people get stuck with bad players for bad actions I don't think a ban is necessary.

1) If someone keeps disconnecting intentionally, then they aren't even playing the game anyway. They spend more time at the campfire, so they are getting the full game-price value, punishment or no, since this is the area of the game where they choose to spend their time.
2) By disconnecting, they are diminishing the experiences of up to 4 other people who have also paid for the game and who are actually trying to play it.
3) Network issues occur, agreed. But the fact that they occur so regularly the moment a survivor's face hits the ground is one heck of a coincidence! Nonetheless, there should be a few safety DC's. Let's say you get 3 in a day. On the 4th, and every one thereafter that day, you incur a 15 minute timeout. If you intentionally DC, this hurts. If you are having network issues, by the time you get your modem and other equipment checked out and restarted, the 15 minutes should be about done anyway.

Funny how Killers can say this AND THEN turn around and tunnel and camp... um.... Y i K E S!

Yeah, camping and tunneling are no fun as killer or survivor. Agreed. But my point is still valid. (And I play both sides equally in case you were thinking otherwise).

This is for treated DCs... if it’s a bad connection that is causing you to DC 3+ times a day you shouldn’t be playing an online game anyways

It doesn't happen all the time but at least 3 times a day out of 20 matches

There are already punishment in places for people that have a high rate of DCs.
With that being said, Dedicated Servers will allow a stricter control on DCs allowing more ways to deal with them.

We’ve seen people, even streamers, DC often enough to realize the “threshold,” for punishing DC is way too lenient. Like 50% so if you DC 4/10 games it’s ok

I wonder, all these people on the forums defending DC are probably the teammates I get with names like “Spirit = DC,” or “down me and I DC.”

Dedicated servers are out now. They have even been delayed.
- Why was the stricter control not implemented yet?
- When is it coming?
- Why are dedicated servers required for it, why couldn't you do that before dedicated servers?

People will whine they got banned for a DC on the p2p servers, supposedly BHVR wants to wait for dedicated so they can be sure it’s a player DC not gettting dropped. We all know that’s bull but they’re afraid to alienate whiny babies

Dedicated servers are not out now: They are in a testing phase.
As you said yourself, they have been delayed (ETA is within end of Fall of this year).
I'll leave this here for your other questions. The developer update of June/July did cover them.

Don't know if anyone else has experienced the survivors disconnecting the killer on PS4 but I have been on both sides of that bullcrap

Is there a difference between DC and just using the menu to leave a game? Because I leave game pretty frequently as killer.
Survivors should just take it as a win, because I do it when I've clearly lost.
Sorry, I don't care. I main Freddy, and if 3 gens pop, on a big map, and I haven't hooked squat, I'm not wasting more time.
And frankly it's survivors fault for this attitude. I'd be more than happy to just wander around at this point and let you take the extra 2 minutes to pop the others, but they all feel like they then need to goad me into a chase, or cleanse all the totems, or (and most annoying of all) wait at the exit so I have to chase 3 of them out and then wait for the last guy to find the hatch...
Sorry, I have 2 kids, a job, and bills to play. What I like about this game is I can pick it up and play for 30-45 minute and put it down. My free time is too limited to waste in bad games.

Went up against a streamer yesterday. He and two others dced within the first few minutes. I let the last dude have hatch, then went and looked up the streamer. Found my match. Dude was toxic, dced just to piss me off. His party followed, and the last dude? He was in the party as well, but was going to tea bag the hatch when I got near. I just happened to find him first.
Looks like I won't be giving the hatch out of for awhile.
