About the delays

I'm sick and tired of posts. I agree with all of them however. No event this year besides this, Oh wait, my bad, the third year anniversary! Yeah decorated hooks and gens, goodie! These devs don't care about the community anymore. They are incompetent money hungry devs and in my opinion a "mini ea" as one put it. This is ridiculous that this year in dbd is year of the delays, or year or the fails. No summer event, extremely bad dedicated servers we've been promised for a year, no mid chapter update, extreme glitches and delays with ghostface upon initial release. Ridiculous. $20-$40 game with $5-$10 dlcs that make it hard to play without, along with $10 cosmetics and a new original battle pass that's also 10 dollars and introduces nothing new. Sad behavior, Sad.

Im salty. No true hate to the devs, I'm sure they work hard. But c'mon. Dedicated servers were the only other big thing this year and you messed it up. All of this screams incompetence. Atleast give us a estimate as to when we will see the event. I love this game, and after being so hype from leaks, confirmation, skins leaks, skin confirms, I'm sure many share my salt.

The event did not get canceled, it got postponed.

Then how about you don't play? If you are so upset with the devs for this, and want the judge them when you don't have anymore idea then anyone else has... then you are obviously one of those toxic people that ruin the game. Things happen, and just cause they do is no reason to get on here and trash talk the devs when you have no idea whats going on. Grow up.

    Imma borrow this from @NMCKE

"If they released Dedicated Servers and etc., you will instead hear this from everyone, "Ugh, great year BHVR, you gave us terrible servers," "Thank you for the poor Halloween Event BHVR," "Poor summer event BHVR, as expected," and so on — the forums will be on fire if BHVR released an incomplete project. It seems like BHVR gets the blame regardless of what they do, so please, chillax, stay positive 😕

BHVR is doing the best they can, and I wished y'all took a different point of view instead of pointing fingers at BHVR 24/7.

I'm just going to leave this here, I will always stand beside @MandyTalk's quote:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/617101#Comment_617101

The Developers care greatly about their player base and are constantly striving to keep both "sides" happy. They also care greatly about the game that THEY created.

They give regular updates, answer as many questions as possible about things they can discuss - obviously they cannot discuss up and coming stuff because all of that is kept secret. They share their time and as much information as they possibly can. You can also find them in a lot of streams talking to the Community, answering questions and helping people as much as possible.

They are trying to please so many people at once from different sides of the game and for someone to say that they're just trying to infuriate people is frankly incredibly disappointing - I expected better from the Community than that.

If the devs gave a date for the event they should try to stick with it. I agree that it's better to delay it that give a crap build. This is not the first time they delay something big and that is the problem, it's ok if you have an issue once, but this year it was a pattern and that is not ok. I really want to have a nice event, good dedicated servers, but the way things went this year it just screams incompetence even if they try their best.

The event and other PTB changes were postponed until Mid Chapter patch. The Mid Chapter patch has no ETA yet as the devs are working on ironing a few issues out. The devs are working hard on getting things ready for us to enjoy. I don't think the delay would be too long as the majority of the community were insanely hyped for it. I'm still hyped for the new things coming and so I'm fine with waiting just a lil' bit longer if it means that we don't get a botched Mid Chapter. The devs are people too and are welcome to make mistakes just like us.

Thank you BHVR for your hard work!

I don’t agree with the greed part as they do need to make money and I believe that chapters are very reasonably priced as well as the new battle pass (a one time pay and constant refund of your cells every season, it’s literally free if you complete it every time!). The $10 outfits are poorly priced in my opinion but lots of people buy them so it is what it is.

regarding your comment however, this isn’t the first time this has happened. They are constant running into delays and it’s becoming a pattern.

BHVR is trying too be getting as many new players as they can and ignoring all the existing fan base. For example, this summer, they have expanding to switch and mobile (which for whatever reason isn’t available to 90% of the fan base in North America), and then they have delayed dedicated servers, delayed the stranger things chapter, and didn’t even give us a summer event. As if it would’ve been so difficult to place some margarita machines and 2 unlockable cosmetics.

i can sympathize with the devs, they aren’t a massive company but they need to learn to stop over promising. All they end up doing is disappointing a lot of players when then they can’t pull through.

im mainly disappointed in the withering blight event. Halloween is the perfect time for DBD and they however post pone the event till November. My speculation is they realized the battle pass (rift) isn’t ready and since they connected the two together they messed the whole system up.

So, you barely listened to what I said... or what the thing I borrowed from the other person said (or seemed not too at least). Cool. Just be happy they are fixing it instead of putting it out broken. Have fun in the Fog.

I'm not salty about the delay but I was really looking forward to it. It's understandable people would be upset by this whole recent delay business. It's similar to Bungies recent mess ups with D2, with their plans for dedicated servers, which never happened, and then their newest DLC Shadowkeep being delayed, then breaking the servers, which still run like a potato. I get that the devs here aren't a huge company like EA or something, but with 3 years experience of running this game, surely they can understand the need for better communication. It's all well and good telling us there's a delay, but to leave it the day before the launch of the event is pretty poor communication no matter how you look at it.

The issue isn't the game. I like the game. It's fun. The survivors I meet are fun and cool. It's the devs. They had over a year to work on dedicated and couldn't release on time. They had all year to work on hallowed blight, considering there was NO other event. This is simply incompetence

@Peanits could you give any clarity? A eta? Anything? Because I know devs work hard. Being a Dev for a game like this is a dream job of mine. But it's still lacking excuse for a lackluster year full of delays. Could you give a eta? Tell us what the problem was? Just explain the situation better then "unexpected problem, delay."

I read all and understood all of it. I just don’t believe you are correct on half of what you said. The community is what keeps dead by daylight running, any 100% multiplayer game for that matter. If you have no one to play with the game is worthless. Bhvr seems to be forgetting about it pre-existing community to favour those who haven’t got the game yet. Which isn’t a bad thing, new players for us is good too, but it becomes a bad thing when every promise you made to the existing fan base gets delayed due to improper time management, priorities, etc. Whatever the case may be.

you have a good, glad I could show you why you were wrong, cheers.

I bet I know what the problem was.... I blame the consoles....

Devs pushed to get both updates in on one shot cause of consoles... I bet the update didn't pass verification on one of the consoles.

Now they make the updates... but have to go back through the verification process. Since this could be a few days...

They aren't giving an ETA cause they want to make sure everything gets passed before giving a date.

Give it a couple days and surprise.. it will be out.

The "glad I could show you why you were wrong" was unneeded and very passive aggressive. I ask that you don't take that tone with me.

They want to fix the patch, it's a big patch and A new engine update. Peanits already talked about this. It's broken, and if they released it then it would break the whole game and piss us off even more. I'd rather them take the time to fix the patch and the engine, then put it out broken.

The event will be the same length of days, just pushed back slightly. The devs give a crap about us, and they work hard to help both new and old players (Which btw I don't even know WHY that was brought up other than to strawman)

A date on an event is not a promise, it's a "Hey it should be going by now." Things happen in life that push things back. If your significant other was like "Oh hey, I know I said to you that we would go outta town this date, but work can't let me go now." would you just scream at them that they owe you now? No, I bet you'd understand alot better.

I'm not saying you can't say that the Devs are doing something wrong, i'm saying don't be a douche about it if you DO say it.

So, i'm not gonna end this on a passive aggressive note like you did and instead I will sincerely wish you fun in the game.

if you don’t like my tone don’t reply, and you have a illustrated in your comment how I shouldn’t be a douche so let me try and get some sense into that head,

they are a company, and a company makes more money by expanding. And that’s what there doing. That is 100% fine.

a company keeps its following by keeping its existing fan base happy. They have ran into numerous issues this year and have reduced content quantity by a significant amount.

I want DBD to have a huge fan base one day that would bring me lots of happiness. But they need to find a healthy balance and they way it’s been looking as of late is a much greater portion of their resources has been devoted to expanding to different platforms vs. Meeting or even having deadlines on game quality, events, etc.

glad I could show you why you are wrong. Have a great day

You know, I was legit listening and nodding to it till that last line. Really? You just undermined your whole point to take a stab at me. Don't do that, it's unneeded. Let's just move on, cause this is obviously not gonna go anywhere.
