Pros and cons?

It doesn't work (I just played a game with a Shroud of Separation and spawned with all 3 other Survivors visible).

Survivors spawn all together or in pairs most of the time, with Shroud of Separation not having a noticeable effect on this.

Even if it did work, having Survivors spawn *separated* encourages them to work on different generators, which means no matter what Survivor you chase, 3 others are doing gens. For a Killer this is only a bad thing; but it's especially bad on slower Killers or trap Killers like Hag or Trapper that need setup time.

As for Survivors starting *together*, it has various pros and cons but it's mostly beneficial for Killers since they can snowball quickly if they get even 2 Survivors down together.

Those one to two minute Nurse games you hear about usually happen because the Survivors all spawned near each other.

Cons: They can all work and progress on different gens at once.

Pros: None that I can really think of

But isn’t it often that you can have a couple survivors who start alone and they play it safe and not even get on a gen?

and by the time you down someone and hook them no more than one gen is done?

you know what I’m trying to say?

    Pros (for Survivors):

    • Multiple gens being worked on at once.
    • More ground being covered to help locate hex totems faster.
    • If a teammate is discovered and being chased it wont effect you or other survivors while working on objectives (at least not for a while)
    • More efficient - a penalty is added to speed for a gen being worked on by multiple survivors (without Prove Thyself)

    Pros (for Killers):

    • First gen wont progress as fast.
    • Likely to find a survivor faster and without needing to cover as much ground.

The more separated survivors are, the more work the killer has to do.

Why do you think 3-gen strats are hyper effective? the survivors are forced to be next to each other, and the killer knows about it.

Sure, the first gen wont pop as quickly if you're apart, but the consequences if you dont finish that gen before the killer arrives is pretty not worth the effort you put in. The killer would just hook you next to the gen, and they'd be dumb to leave, as they know someone else was nearby working on it with you.

Plague and Legion can easily turn the game around, as those killers gain a significant advantage from you being injured early on. Staying grouped at the first second already puts them at an advantage, it almost feels like cheating when I play them and i catch them quickly.

You can use it to troll survivors into thinking you have a mori.

This, exactly. As a Trapper main, I don't want them starting separated. I need to trap my battlefield. I can often lose 1-2 gens before I can truly start to pressure the field. If they are all separate, I'll lose 3-4 gens before I can start to pressure with any level of effectiveness. It takes time to set 3-4 traps in key spots in order to cause a cascading effect of ongoing pressure.

Nope, not a good idea at all.

Tbh you'll probably get rushed quicker if you separated survivors
