Should survivors and killers be rewarded for reaching rank 1?
I was thinking that survivors would get a charm that looks like the gears symbol for rank 1 along with the date of last rank reset or the date that you actually reached rank 1. It would be the gears and inside of the gears would be the numbers, for example, 1/14/20. For killers, it would be the same thing but change the gears for the killer symbol for rank 1. Idk I just feel like reaching rank 1 doesnt really feel like an accomplishment in this game. Other games like R6S reward you for the rank that you get that season. In DBD, you kinda just have the rank just so you're not bullying others that are lower ranks.

Each rank reset the amount of pips you have should give you bloodpoints, experience in battlepass and experience in your account level. Not sure the amount but something like that would encourage me to stay in decent rankings.

Yeah that would be cool for then to do something that actually counts towards progression but even if they did something like customization that would still be fine too. I would just like them to at least do something.

It could maybe give you a small amount of auric cells or one free selectable cosmetic piece? There should be some award but how large, I dunno

If ranks were based on skill, I would agree. Right now, it is based on how much you play. I do not see the reason to reward someone for playing the game a lot again. We already have that system set up with the Rift.

on one hand I dont think so because reaching rank 1 is too easy. On the other hand the grind in this game is insane and I think extra blood points wherever possible is not a bad idea....so i don't know lol.

Yes, rewarding reaching red ranks is gonna increase the amount of players on those ranks, therefore increasing the match making efficiency for high ranks

Once upon a time yes. Now absolutely not. It is even easier to get to rank with rank reset rework. within 2 more months most players as long as they are not purposely deranking will be in red ranks.

I'm still waiting for the Leaderboards + Rewards that were promised when they put out the first Roadmap.
That being said, it would be nice to get a small amount of Shards or maybe some special Offering. It's just too easy to get there right now though, so I don't see this being implemented at any time in the near future.

Well you see, it says: Rank Rework "initiatives".
Making me think it was there to give us some false hope about it . initiatives could mean they start talking about the possibility.
I think they plan to rework rank, but never intended on rewards, just good "plans" on the roadmap to placate.

So like I said to the other, it was plastered to mislead us about the aforementioned and previously talked about rewards.
But at least it will be...reworked....again...to still serve as a matchmaking tool and not a rank...

Wait...we shouldn't reward people for playing the game a lot? Isn't it better to encourage people to play more often? I've always been a grinder. I play this game a lot and try my hardest every match in solo survivor. A lot of the games I play reward you for grinding a lot and putting in a ton of effort.

Absolutely. The only thing red rank killers get for being rank 1 is harder lobbies and survivors only get harder killers. Nothing else. There is no incentive to reach rank red for either side.It's why deranking has always been such an issue. There is no reason to stay at red ranks where the games are generally harder. So, people deranked for easier games. Having said this, they drastically need to change up how ranks are earned before implementing ranked rewards. Currently getting to red ranks isn't an accomplishment because it's just a time grind. They actually need to make it hard to get red ranks so that only people who are good at the game actually get it. Not just people who play the game a lot.

Grinding is fine in grinding progression games. You have somewhere to grind to, or for. 1v5 pvp has no progression other than your matchmaking rank.
And rewarding for playtime is good too. Daily logins and whatnot are awesome bonuses. Simply requiring you to put extra time in every day altering your playstyle, is not a playtime reward.
The rank system as is isnt a rank system. So rewarding for rank 1 would literally only make you play the game more than you wanted to, for a (######### or even nonexistent) reward that you dont actually earn, but are given because you decided to play an extra 2 hours a day instead of X y z you normally would. It's a bait tactic, like battlepasses, to sucker you in to wasting more time.
If rank was ACTUALLY A RANK and not just matchmaking, lasted longer than 30 days, then maybe it would be a reward, but as is, it would be a participation trophy used as ######### bait.

I am not sure about rewards for killers with the current matchmaking ... how is it hard to reach rank1 when you can only face r10-r15 survivors each game?

I dont think reaching rank 1 should be rewarded. I am rank 1 every season since I started in 2016 and it was never hard. I think rewarding rank 1s would lead to more and more people trharding to get a pip and sooner or later most of the survivors and killers will be at high rank. This will result in long waiting times for every casual player.

Is there any point of Rank 1 rewards anymore? It's so easy for survivors to get up there and with the latest rank reset change it'll only take a day or two to get back up.

just reward shards each level they go up in once per season. so 25shards per rank..
- 20-19 = 25 shards
- 19-18 = 25 shards
you get the idea, after rank reset it will calculate how many ranks you are from 20 and providing the right amount of shards. (475 shards for hitting rank 1) like people say ranking up isnt insanely hard, not only that shards are hard to get otherwise for casual players and it would also allow people to play both sides for a small bonus reward. get both to rank 1 and you get a nice 950shards each month

I would be fine with something similar to Rocket League, where your rank at the end just gives some random little cosmetic/charm/whatever that shows the rank you had at the end of the season. Just a small little thing to it.

We already have a system for rewarding people for playing a lot. Its called the Rift. That is what I said in my original post. I would have agreed for rewarding ranks before the Rift was introduced. But since we have it now, I wouldnt.

With the current state of the game, I expect the removal of ranks before an introduction of rank rewards.

Rewards are supposed to, well, reward you for accomplishing something hard.
The new rank resets pushes everyone slowly towards red ranks. I think rank needs to be harder to achieve for both sides before we have ranked rewards.
