I don't know why killers were crying so much. New ruin is great.
Honestly, the ruin rework is one of the best things that ever happened to this game.
It is just great specially at end game, makes it really hard to get those last two gens completed and for killer that can apply good pressure from early game, is gonna be insanely helpful.
Just adapt, both killers and survivors, and enjoy the game. I really think is a lot better now.

Everyone cries when something new is changed before they even test it.

True

People are mad because they removed Ruin without addressing the issue as to why so many people ran Ruin in the first place, which was generator times and map size.
18 -
No. It's not an end game perk, it's a hex, it's not supposed to last long.
and if you consider hex perks end game perks, then old ruin was better anyways, since it granted passive gen slowdown, rather than active like new ruin.
12 -
Ruin still helps with that, and really well.
2 -
Ah yes, the great end game perk that can literally be disabled in the first 20s of a match. The great perk that degrades a gen at half the rate a single survivor repairs a gen at, with no toolbox.

Why everybody always makes this 30 seconds argument? Is not even true. The perk getting cleanse that quick doesn't even happen that often.
5 -
Waw, now the argument is 20 seconds instead of 30? Haha, you guys really make me laugh.
3 -
sure because this change will definitely not hurt killers like trapper or hag who have to take time to set up.
5 -
Half the time? Haha another made up statistic.

I've literally spawned on Ruin as survivor at times, and cleansing takes 14s, so yeah about 20s sounds right. Of course it's a variable but an end game perk that can be disabled within the first minute of a match is not reliable in the least. And the issue still comes from the fact that relying on end game isn't viable, unless you're running NOED+Bloodwarden.

They are less upset about the ruin changes themselves (which make sense) but rather the abundant favoritism and ignoring of all killer side issues.
Anyways, I really like the new ruin changes just wish they had been done at a better time.

I've had a few games where it lasted the whole match and I 4k'd. I consider Ruin successful if it lasted 2 hooks. On average I would say that I had a hook and a hit before Ruin was gone. The great thing about old Ruin is that survivors would run the map looking for it. Now you have to pressure them off of gens to get any benefit. As soon as its problematic, you can do the same thing 2 minutes into the match and you've likely been around the map enough that someone has already found it in chase or on the way to an unhook. People don't generally walk by hex totems and ignore it. It could be devour. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going into first match with new ruin. Are there easy instructions on youtube to uninstall steam games?

Imagine thinking a Hex that is lit from the start of the game, and notifies the survivors it's active, is in any way good for end game.
This is how you know the devs don't play their own game. They called a hex perk an end game perk.
5 -
If a Ruin is still active at the end of the game that means that you're playing against potatoes and you never needed it in the first place.

It's a generalized statement. The devs have argued that new Ruin is an endgame perk. But it's a hex perk, and hex perks are known for having terrible spawns/being really easy to cleanse because it is really easy to learn their positions.
Ruin barely helps. In order for it to have any effect I have to somehow get all 4 survivors off gens at once, which if you play killer at all, you will know that it is basically impossible. I can only chase one person at a time while the other 3 pump out gens, and in current DBD, a chase can be extended for so long due to the map, tile spawns, and the crazy amount of tools survivors have to extend the chase.

Welcome to slugfest m8, new ruin is best perk for that, if it survived first 30sec of match

When it lasts to the end game

New ruin has made the game unfun. My team gets out in 5 mins max. Maybe get to encounter the killer once before all gens are done. It's super boring to play against. I feel awful for the killers I've faced. I usually play both sides, but this is just f'ed. Probably gonna be handing out some more free mercy kills.

Its not about that new ruin is bad. There is just no substitute for the old ruin. Thats bad.

Hello sweet end game perk.
Serious, how does the devs claim ruin is an end game perk is beyond me. They literally don't play their own game it seems.
4 -
Been playing three hours in red, only died three times all to noed facecamps but i cant blame them
I've been getting two gens done before the killer hit anyone tbh it's kinda hard to pip up
I'm definitely not gonna play killer for a while lol not being a doctor main that cooldown is just two long. I like the blast tho but noone is stalled in the least by snap out of it. I'm watching them do it mid loop
1 -
Ruin lasting until end game? LOL. I do not agree with people saying it gets cleansed in 20 seconds every game but it usually gets cleansed after 1 gen.
1 -
Well, new Ruin is also bad. Double regression is still half the rate of a single survivor repairing gens with no toolbox.
2 -
Old Ruin got survivors off gens or at least slowed them down if they stayed on.
New Ruin keeps survivors on gens and does nothing to slow their progress.
...can't imagine why killers don't think New Ruin is a good replacement...
6 -
It is, agreed. Even on billy I cant see any benefit. I get the same results without the new one. Might as well equip other perks instead of a bad "endgame" hex .
3 -
New Ruin is trash and nothing has been addressed about why it was needed in the first place. You will never convince anyone other than survivor mains otherwise. Unless...
3 -
"it's just great specially at end game" ha, funny joke. a hex lasting that long? lol
1 -
I'm fine with how it works, but hex totems get destroyed too fast. In 90% of my recent games with the new ruin it never got into play cause survs spawned on it or cleansed it early, and then i'd have 0 slowdown for gens

They're fixing totem spawns on new maps.

I hope they are,i will probably be better off with just pop and thrilling tho
