My Chucky Idea!

Not to sound spoiled since we JUST got Ghostface, but obviously Behavior has to be interested in the fact to bring as many licensed Killers to the game as possible. And I want to rehash the idea of getting our favorite little murdering possessed doll, Chucky!

I know other people have posted many many times throughout here and the Steam forums about Chucky and his potential powers, and I wanted to share my idea and see what you guys think. I know the popular idea was for him to obviously be really little, and have almost no terror radius, and thus be a very stealthy killer.

However we now have Wraith, Myers, Pig, Ghostface, and to a lesser extent, Spirit and Hag who are stealth based Killers, and adding another would seem kind of…. Lazy? Even though Killers in general tend to ALL be kind of stealthy… But I digress.

I was playing against Ghostface the other night, and I thought I had lost him mid chase, but in reality he LOS me and went stealth. I had my camera turned around thinking he was going to pop out of a hedge (Lampkin map) and he downed me from my front and scared the living hell out of me. I have not had a good jump in a while in this game. Also while playing as GF, I got some good mind games on some loops by LOS the survivor while crouching. Those two experiences are the motivation for my idea below.

I also want to establish that DBD is all but open to the idea of static Killer specific structures on every map, (see Pigs Jigsaw boxes and Plagues fountains). This is relevant for my idea:

The Doll

Base Kit

Movement Speed- Standard: 4.6 m/s; 115 %

Lunge Attack- Standard: 6.9 m/s; 172.5 %

Terror Radius: 40 Meters

Dialogue after a hit: Maniacal Chucky laughter

Justification: Because my particular idea for Chucky does not help him in a chase, he needs to have standard mobility like Trapper, LF, Billy etc. I know I’m going to get some hate since Killers that have abilities that assist in ending chases are a premium, but please keep reading. The huge terror radius is justified because I envision this Killer as a map pressure Killer, in which a larger terror radius helps.

Ability:

(Please note after thinking of this I found a reddit post by u/tengufdi here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/9coxzs/childs_play_chapter_the_toy_chucky_powerperks/

However I promise I did not read it beforehand but it does have some similarities. I like his idea too except for his perks)

Power: Wanna Play?

7 “Good Guy” Kiosks/ Toy Boxes Spawn within 10 meters of every generator with a passive Good Guy doll standing in front of it.

The Doll can activate any good guy box on the map and channel to possess any passive Good Guy elsewhere on the map. After activating the Good Guy Box the Doll can look around to highlight a generator, and possess the closest Good Guy Doll to it.

While channeling:

The Doll cannot attack

The Doll’s terror radius is slowly reduced to zero

The Passive Good Guy Doll’s eyes that is being channeled will glow red

After channeling is complete:

The Doll’s body where he was channeling disappears (similar to Sprit’s Husk and Hag)

The Doll will instantly become the previously channeled Good Guy

The Doll will instantly be able to move and attack

The Doll’s terror radius will slowly return over 5 seconds

The passive Good Guy that the Doll possessed will respawn after 2 minutes

Once a Good Guy has been possessed, it cannot be re-possessed until the passive Good Guy has respawned.

Justification:

This gives Chucky insane map presence. To be able to basically teleport to any generator at any time (barring cooldown) will keep survivors on their toes and mean he is constantly pressuring any and everyone. Combined with perks like Surveillance and Discordance and you have one hell of a killer.

I also am aware that Freddy is potentially getting a similar ability, but I know it’s not finalized.

Even though his ability does nothing to directly aid in a chase, keep in mind his very small size (Roughly 2 1/2 feet) will help him immensely in Jungle gyms, loops, and mind gaming. Can you imagine keeping track of him in a cornfield map? Lery’s? The Haddonfield hedges? What he lacks in ending chases he makes up for in map pressure and mind gaming. Also he will be terrifying.

Perks

Playtime

The rustling of a chest annoys the entity. Every time a chest is finished being searched, the Killer is notified and the Survivors aura is revealed to you for 5/6/7 seconds. Playtime has a 60/45/30 second cooldown.

“Hi, I’m Chucky, Wanna Play?”

The Stench of Death

You become obsessed with one survivor.

The other Survivor’s know that the Doll will never stop hunting his target. Decrease’s the other Survivors' Healing, Sabotage, Unhooking, Cleansing, Opening Exit Gates, and Chest Search speeds by 5/10/15 % when they are within 8/12/15 meters of the obsession.

“I’ll be back! I always come back.”

Insatiable Pursuit

The Entity admires your resilience in pursuit of your victim. For every stun performed on you, you gain one token. After receiving 6/4/3 tokens, all survivors suffer from the Exposed status effect. Downing a survivor consumes 6/4/3 tokens. Insatiable Pursuit is always lowest in priority over other perks.

“We’re friends til the end, remember?”

Justification:

Playtime is a bit lore based, in the sense that Chucky is a toy, and the Dbd Chests closely resemble toy chests. Also Survivors have a buff for searching chests (Pharmacy); there should be one that counters it.

The Stench of Death is very lore based. Chucky was incredibly obsessed with Andy throughout the films, and this perk directly counters Leader and makes it a bit fun if other survivors stay away from the obsession. Debating if adding gen speed decrease is too much. Also isolates the obsession.

Insatiable Pursuit is my favorite of the three. Really makes it worth getting beat on during the match. And makes altruistic actions a bit more risky for the team. The comment about always being lowest in priority means that if you stack it with other Exposed perks like NOED, Make Your Choice, Devour Hope and you manage to get all your tokens while simultaneously proccing the others, your Exposed hits won’t count towards Insatiable Pursuit but for your other Exposed perks. This ensures you don’t waste a Make you Choice etc. This is also in line with Lore since Chucky is so resilient. How many times has he died anyways?

These perks are geared towards finding, downing, and debuffing Survivors. I think they’re fitting for him.

Ultra-Rare

War Games Journal

A random passive Good Guy Dolls’ eyes will glow every 30 seconds as if it is being possessed

Iridescent Amulet

Tremendously reduce the respawn time of a passive Good Guy doll after Wanna Play has been used

Justification:

I know a lot of these are pretty lame, especially the names, but I can’t see too many positive benefits with map presence this strong. I envision Chucky being very terrifying and mind gaming, so the two UR’s sound so fun to me. All of these are works in progress.

MORI

I like the idea of the survivor standing up like with Freddy’s mori, and he slashes their ankles or legs to drop them to the ground to finish them off. Standard Chucky knife kill honestly. But again he does use any and everything. Opportunist!

Mechanics

Since Chucky is roughly 2 ½ feet tall, there becomes an issue with everything he interacts with in the game. He is half of the Hag’s height, but interacting with generator’s and pallets shouldn’t be an issue, in that just the camera angle changes.

The main issue arises with vaults, grabbing survivors, and hooking survivors. I think vaulting is an easy fix, in that you give him a Legion type “hop” over the vault, but picking up, locker grabs, and hooking might be more challenging.

I’m sure the devs could think of much better ideas, but my initial thoughts are:

Picking up: the animation can be changed to a “dragging” instead of carrying. I feel like the animation wouldn’t be too hard to design?

Locker grabs: He could do a Hag type hop into the locker and initiate the grab.

Hooking: I envision some type of jumping toss onto the hook. A sledgehammer type move.

I know these aren’t perfect but they probably aren’t out of the realm of realism from Chucky’s size standpoint. He is widely known to still have his human strength in the dolls body. Again you all could probably come up with better animations.

Conclusion

Well there you have it! I know it is not perfect, but I like the idea. Honestly I am a huge Chucky fan and think it would be terrifying to have him tiny little murderous doll body in the game! I am pretty sure it’s going to happen, just a matter of time.

Please let me know what everyone thinks!

Thanks

-Mike

I like the fact that you put a lot of thought into him but he's simply too small. It does not look like the devs would be willing to overhaul killer mechanics to cater to just one killer. That backlash from survivors on such a small killer doing such things would be immense, probably forcing him to be nerfed anyway.

I love the concept for the most part other than one major mechanic that I feel would be more appropriate for the Chucky role. Instead of the dolls that you transfer your conscience from disappearing entirely once you leave there body I believe that the dolls should stay permanently in game and once you leave them they stay stagnant wherever you left them at. You could use this as a viable killer strategy to cut off over powered loops like the killer shack prematurely and you could also use this to mind game survivors. For instance you could go to the killer shack early game and transfer your conscience into another doll while standing in the shack doorway to cut that loop of entirely. Although I do believe that chucky should have a weaker m1 due to his size and the ability to transfer into other bodies being a bit OP. For instance Chuckies first initial hit would put a survivor into the injured state but the second would have a similar affect to legions hemoraging ability. The third one should put the survivor in the dying state. I just think him transferring to dolls that only sit by generators is a bit underwhelming and Freddyish. Itd add a whole other element to his gameplay.

In the most recent AMA MCote himself said Chucky would be an interesting killer but claimed they had no plans to acquire him right now. So the devs are open to him. He's not an impossibility.

I think there should be less perks rewarding the obsession as killer. Maybe The Stench of Death could be changed to debuff the obsession instead of all other survivors?

As another little note to further elaborate on my idea for Chuckies doll mechanic. I think it'd be a viable but not overpowered idea to mind game survivors. Here's an example of how you could mind game survivors into getting early hits. If you utilize your dolls to the fullest you could do certain strats like transferring to a doll infront of a survivor you're chasing who's attempting to make it to a loop before you get a hit off. By prematurely transferring you could easily get an early hit off on the survivor by catching them off guard entirely. It'd work against most people and is a strategy I use with Freddy to essentially utilize traveling to generators in a Chase at a specific distance I use to make sure I'm as close as possible to survivor after manifesting from the gem blood and 9/10 I get early hits doing so.

    They don't actually.

If the doll needs to kick a gen/pallet or pick up a survivor the ghost of the real Charles Lee Ray appears around the doll and mimics the actions. This ghost is a normal sized person and only appears for these actions. This let's you play as the doll without having to come up with a new pick up mechanic.

Insatiable Pursuit and the Stench of Death are awesome. I really like the idea. I would love to see Chucky in the game. I 100% believe it can be done. As for the generator kicking, he could beat the gen twice with his knife or something. It's not unheard of to see a new break action. I love the idea.

I like this idea. Would love for Chucky to be in the game

Afyer playing always crouched Ghostface i think his height wouldn't be that big of a deal
