do survivor movements feel different after this mid chapter patch or is it just me

After the mid chapter patch it feels as like they changed how survivors turn when running. It might just be me but did they mention anything like this in the patch notes?

    "You can't moonwalk"?

I just played a game and I've been moonwalking around lol

Yes, they made it so hits look more consistent and overall feel much smoother. You can still moonwalk, that was a bug in the PTB.

    @Spooky13 @Watery

They stated in the PTB patchnotes that the "Movement Extrapolation" was a test merely for the PTB and would not be going to the live servers.

Survivor. The movement feels different in regards to turning, the turns aren’t as sharp as they originally felt.

I also feel like the movement feels very, sensitive. I can’t put a finger on it.

If you are at liberty to say, do you have any idea if the overall movement actually has changed in some regard (intentionally or otherwise) or if it's just a perception thing?

First thing I've noticed is auto-aim become a bit too forceful. Basically can't lunge for distance at turns, auto-aim locks me into a wall. Or was it what @Purple_Orc said? maybe my camera was just off target? Though I'm on PC.

About the moonwalking: in what way do you look at it? Is it an unintentional feature you want to keep in the game or will it get "fixed"?

I personally like that feature, makes it a bit more fun as survivor.

I feel it too. I play on console and thought I needed a new controller. There are times when my character just stops running for no reason and it feels clunky and unresponsive.

That movement extrapolation test you did felt pretty good,it felt smoother, atleast for me

They can turn much more sharply and still don't have footstep noises

I hadn't played since the ned of December so i wasn't sure if this was dedicated servers on ps4 or the new patch but killers appeared to be on ice skates sliding around. I also noticed my movement seemed weird.

@TAG That's what we are trying to figure out. Our team that works on servers and movement has has confirmed that nothing was planned for this update. Knowing that, we are trying to figure out where the change in perception for players comes from.

Different changes that aren't directly related to movement could have an impact on this and, normally, when there is many reports of the same issue / change, that means there is something we didn't catch yet. So keep the details coming, that will help us identify where it comes from.

@Eye66 The footsteps are a different issue but it has been reported as well. When you say ''they'' you were responding to the OP and you mean survivors?

Both Survivor and Killer feels a little different. I'm not sure exactly what it is though

I noticed this too yesterday as killer. It felt like all my hits kept missing for no reason. I thought it was just because I was trying out Huntress.

I think it's worth noting - "not being able to moonwalk" in the PTB wasn't a bug. Moonwalking is the bug.

It felt different, yeah. It felt like I was moving slower for some reason.

I noticed as hag if I move anything on controller she flies in wrong direction which made chases awful for me. I’m on ps4.

Same here, and the aim assist/autoaim seems odd. In one game I was trying to hit a Survivor who was opening a chest. On the first try hit the left hand corner of the chest. On the second try I hit the right hand corner of the chest.

I don't know if it was Doctor specific or if I adjusted to it after a few games. I had trouble with it for the first few games I played last night, and I played doctor in those games. After three or four games I switched to Pig, and didn't have the issue. That may be because I had adjusted to it, not because I switched killers.

I don't know how to explain but at the moment it's difficult to hit survivors, especially obvious hits

  • thrawn3054
    thrawn3054 Member Posts: 5,897

Mine was Huntress. Though I was having a similar issue with Pig. I kept hitting walls and trees. Basically anything but the survivor.

Had the same issue. At first I thought it was just my killer skills are rusty.

I don't feel any difference honestly. I'll try to be more mindful when I play later today, see if I notice anything.

EDIT: I haven't played as killer yet, but against Doc I've been getting hit from MILES away. One game on new Lery's, he chased me to the top of treatment center. I drop down the hole behind the couch to use Balanced, take 5 full steps and he hit me while he was still falling. Literally like a 4m difference and I still got hit. Then later in the same game he again hit me from like 4m away, THROUGH ANOTHER SURVIVOR! My friend just rescued me and was body blocking to protect me, he swings at him and passes right through and hits me. From really really far away. I had a couple other very questionable hits in other games too, but this was the most egregious. And then watching my friend stream afterwards, I saw the same things happen to him against Doc. It seems like the lunge is bugged to be way way longer than it should be.

Exactly, there's something wrong about Doctor's lunge

I played killer for the first time today since the latest update and the dedicated servers (PS4) I only played as doc but the lunge did feel strange, I don't know if the distance is less or it ends too quickly but it doesn't seem right, I'm pretty sure it's not (just) me being a potato.

She would have no idea. She doesn't work on that kind of thing and they likely haven't told her the exact details of the movement changes because she has no need to know the specifics. At best she would just be able to ask the devs working on it if they could post an update about it.

  • Snitz

Yeah I was playing Demo and I felt like the lunge was slower or shorter too, weird.

Granted I haven't played in awhile, but while playing the doc, I feel like I'm moving through molasses. Everything feels slower than it used to be. (PC)

I was wondering is this connected to survivor movement sounds? Cause playing as killer you can't hear them very well. Mainly survivors footsteps.

Edit: Just saw the previous post about it and it appears to be a different issue.

I've noticed this too, I was playing earlier and I swung at a survivor only for them to hit me with a 90° turn

Yeah the Movement is completly different for me. The Movement in general feels for me total clunky and slow and the autoaim is totally trash hitting survivor behind window or pallets makes to hit a wall or does nothing.

And i noticed the doc holding his weapon wrong when he running his weapon is hard too see. (compare to other killers holding animation) and some hits look weird.

For some reason I’ve struggled with her more since the update, idk if it’s just me but I feel like there are larger frame drops when she blinks and it becomes harder to focus on the target

I have only played killer since the mid chapter patch and it looks like the survivors are able to turn faster than normal which makes it easier for them to juke and 360. At first I thought It was just me since i haven't played for a few days before the mid chapter patch but after playing over 10 games as killer I can say for sure that it is easier for survivors to turn, its almost like they are sliding as they do it and it has made hitting them more difficult.

Is it just me or do you move faster when travelling to a hook. But it feels like survivors also get off faster now. I don't know if this is related or just me, but I thought I'd add it.

I think I noticed it once, it felt like I was slippery, like I was holding a survivor but wasn't for a moment. It was on the new Lery's Map, and I was The Shape. But as I said I only noticed it once, and it was only for a brief moment when trying to go through a door, I kept slipping and sliding to the edges of it, preventing me from going through it for a few seconds.

Something else I've noticed, or maybe I'm just rusty. The scratchmarks seem to either disappear randomly, or feel extremely delayed. I'll be chasing someone and they just seem to vanish, Despite the fact that they never stopped running.

    I played on ps4.

I had it on doctor, felt like my sensetivity was twice as high. (PS4)

Not precisely. From what I saw from a past livestream a while ago, when they're making changes sound is the last thing they do most of the time. Also when new content is added into the game (new mori's on new killers for example). This makes sense if they are adjusting the movements for survivors first before putting in the sounds. Sounds have to be timed with the survivors movements (footsteps) and that would be difficult if they are adjusting them at this moment.

I freaking knew it, my movement as survivor and killer has been a little off. Im always running into ######### with the new movement -_-

Movement as survivor definitively have been off lately. I cap my fps at 50 because the movement at 50fps feels better because of no interpolation. But now it seem like I'm straight back to the old interpolated movement, and it the movement feels off the most when you start turing with a and d
