What happens if you earn Rift cosmetics for Characters you dont have?
I am asking for a friend and I personally dont know the answer to it. I guess the cosmetic will stay in your inventory until you bought the actual character and then the skin will be in your "outfits" section or am I wrong?

I don't think you get them if you earn them, but if you buy them in shop they're there forever.

I assume you will get them and only be able to use them once you purchase the characters... that's what makes sense to me but there's nothing like an answer from the devs. They can tell you for sure so:

Ye I guess too but just in case. My classmate bought Dbd and just has like 20 hours atm and he is still saving his shards to buy Clown.

It's the same as buying a cosmetic for someone you don't have. The game will just stash it in your inventory for that character for whenever you buy them.

Yeah thats what we assume but we dont have any proof or confirmation.

No need to tag all the devs. They'll just tell you exactly what @Some_Dood64 said, because that's the correct answer. If you obtain cosmetics for a character you don't own, either through the Rift or the Store, you will gain access to that cosmetic once you unlock the character.

I mean, if you really want to, try it out for yourself. I got Legion's blue camo skin before getting him, and I still had it when I got him at a later date. All it's doing is saying, "You own this now," regardless of whether you own the things to use it. If you buy bullets for a gun, you can't use them if you don't have a gun, but you still own those bullets.

Ye I am not saying you are lying xD. I know what you mean and I though about the exact same, wanted to get conformation about that from a mod or dev since everyone can tell their own experiences or storys. A official conformation is always better.

I understand the desire for an official confirmation, but do bear in mind that the devs are very busy, and even the Community Managers have a lot more than just the forums that requires their attention. So if it's something that other players are able to answer with complete certainty, like this question, it's best to avoid tagging them where they're not actually needed, because it diverts attention away from more pressing issues that actually do need a dev or mod to address them.

I never said the devs have to unswer at a certain time and I dont think that my topic is without any reason since it doesn't effect not just my friend as a new player.
Edit: And I saw enough posts where devs or community manager answer under joke or sarcasm posts. I am not meaning to insult them I just say they cant be that busy to not answer that simple question^^

So if you earn a rift cosmetics for characters that you don't have, it stays in your inventory for when you get that character.

@BenZ0 I got the Kate event cosmetic during a BBQ event one year and didnt buy Kate for several months. I had the cosmetic. I'm assuming you have them, but just not available.
