Ranks don't matter

I'm a 16 killer. On Swamp mind you, not only did I find a p3 Claude survivor exploiting a safe glitch zone on the long bridge where every time I chased she went there along with her other p3 Claude teammates. But at the end I found they were rank 7, 8 and 11. With one 16 random. I want to like this game because of its idea but the gameplay is greatly ruining it.

To be honest you are right. Rank doesn't matter in DBD really. There are green rank survivors who move like red ranks. And there are red ranks who move like they are complete potatoes.

Matchmaking is also royally screwed. You can be a rank 1 survivor and face off against a rank 20 killer. Or you can be a rank 20 survivor and face off against a rank 1 killer. So if you are new I'd say you'll have to learn very fast not to get stomped. But it is fun once you get the hang of it, at least it is to me.

Honestly speaking, I've missed out on alot. I haven't played this for a while and I got deranked back to 20. I want to safeguard at 13 or 12 and now I'm 14 atm. But damn am I getting 20s to 15s that teabag aggressively with a flashlight and loop for considerable time only to find they've got 4 different teachables. It seems that even when I try be fair, I'm punished. Tried farming for a game to test new doc, one wouldnt even farm and teabagged while others let me farm. Later found her to be rank 20 with 4 teachables xD

I checked, and there is a definite correlation between rank difference (between Survivor and Killer) and the Survivor's chance of escape. As the gap between their ranks increases, the Survivor is much less likely to escape.

I'm not saying the rank system is perfect; we're working on it. But it's not completely useless. :)

It would be one thing if it was consistent giving you higher ranks to your own but I'm finding that I'm literally getting anyone which isn't fun for anyone xD

I was only commenting on rank; matchmaking is another issue, which we are also working on.

Like I've said before they need to implement a normal mode without ranks, and then redo their ranking system. Have a ranked gameplay option where if you want to, and if you care about ranks then you can choose to play that mode. Matchmaking allows you to find matches with people of the same rank and one rank above. So if you're in red ranks you can be paired with red and purple ranks. If you're purple you can be paired with red, purple, and high tier green ranks, like ranks 10-11. But green ranks can't be paired with red ranks. This makes it to where if you're ranking up, you will usually play against of either equal or better skill. That way you actually earn your spot, instead of rank=time played. Also introducing rank rewards that give a reason for wanting to rank up. All cosmetic of course.

i'd like this too because then maybe there'd be a place for sweaty tryhards to do all their body blocking/infinite looping/mega blinking and then a place for people who are just learning or just want to have fun.

Exactly lol you could try weird builds in normal, be crazy, have fun. Instead of worrying if you're gonna pip or not. When I first started DBD it was like, "Wait, You're telling me I get to run around as Freddy Krueger and slash people up? Sign me up!" Now it's just like, "Oh look, another infinite Looper on coldwin farm. Time to slug :/"

It's just really lost its fun. However, hats off to the design team. I've had tons of fun on the new Lerys map. Do that with other maps

As a killer there is no point in worrying about rank, you can depip on a 4k if you kill the survivors too fast. Rank as a kiiller has no meaning, you are still going to be facing red/purple rank survivors no matter what.

Lol, man, just reminded me back to the old days of Freddy where putting a gen worker into dream didnt phase them. I still found somewhat fun with the constant aura reading. Just harder to pressure with. Now it's just, welcome to your nightmare b#tch xD

There just isnt any room to play the way you want anymore.literally had myself scratch mirror Miguel in hospital. DC. Infinite tier 3, DC. It's now relying on how survivors want you to play in this game. Ebony Mori, devour hope, rancor, noed, toxic bruh.

This is completely true...but a little misleading.

What's misleading is that Rank doesn't measure skill.

The number of lesser skilled survivors are (probably) making it to red ranks. This is going to skew the data you use for "balancing" at those ranks... which I'm starting to think is deliberate.

I feel like I do well against people of my own rank but its hard to judge since matchmaking rarely allows it.

It's good to hear you're looking into matchmaking. Getting tired of being a rank 12 killer facing red rank survivors constantly. Surprisingly playing rank 14 survivor I'm mostly playing with and against other yellow rank players. But as killer I'm often facing survivors miles ahead of me in ranks.

You're lucky. I tried from 16-13. 16 is fine. 15 will get me 6-20. But as soon as I hit 14, rank 2-20. Thankfully no 1's. I dont think anyone is bothered getting there.
