The wrong logic the devs have
In the Q&A they say that ruin has a problem because 80% of the red ranks using it but perks like DS or BT are not because they don't used at the same rate even tho you can use them to bullying the killer. So with that in mind as long we don't use them 80 % of the game we can do everything we want no matter how toxic is

How do you use BT and DS to bully the killer?
7 -
That's not how it works, additionally how do you "Bully" the killer with DS & BT?
BT is easily countered by going after the unhooker, and DS is easily countered by slugging/chasing someone else, none of this is "bullying".
Stop with the victim complex because survivors use perks you don't like, it's getting absurd now.
15 -
What they said, how do you Bully a killer using perks designed for a game? o.O
2 -
i don't think thay is bullying persoanlly it's a style of game play, it's annoying as hell because i mean the killer thinks they are "winning" yet i mean not many points will be given
2 -
In theory as killer you can camp and tunnel and still 3-hook everybody and get a 32k game if you let the survivors get the save and force a trade before the person on the hook hits the next stage. It's a boring playstyle, I agree, but it works if you're too lazy to hunt for people away from the hook (or just bad at tracking) and you're facing a potato team. To be clear - i'm neither condemning nor condoning this playstyle, just pointing out a fact.

You can totally use these perks maybe not to"bully" but differently as they are intented.
I had many games where survivors with BT unhooked right in my back. The one who got unhooked walked right into me and tanks a hit for the unhooker, knowing I wouldnt chase him down. So no its not just easy countered by going for the unhooker.
The counter to DS is slugging/ chase someone else. Yes. But still you can also abuse the effect of DS. Going into the locker forces the killer to wait, eat DS or go away even in no tunnel scenarios. I myself used DS otherwise. Going for risky plays and trying to make my DS work even though I did not get tunneled.
Yes I also dont think that was bullying. But I also understand it can feel like bullying in killer view.

Slugging is not a counterplay

Nefing something based on its popularity is not a good way to make your player base happy. "hey this is hugely popular. Looks like our player base really enjoys this. Let's nerf it!"
2 -
then pick up and eat the ds lmao

The logic of the devs is that, because the perk was so widely used, they wanted to rework it to open up new build possibilities and to monitor more closely gen time with less interference.
I'm not saying it's sound logic, especially the latter part, but that's the extent of argument.
Because you bully the killer out of camping and tunneling, didn't ya know? /s
P.S. laugh in undetectable, oblivious and proxy.

I wonder how often Adrenaline is used in red ranks
Hmm
1 -
They did comment that its rarely used - at least when compared to other perks like self-care
1 -
How many new or potato survivors have they flooded into high ranks?
3 -
Yeah.. big meanie!
I'm just so perplexed by people who feel "bullied" by any action in this game. How low is your self esteem for you to think that someone who tries to tank hits with BT for his teammate is bullying you? Is it a generational thing?
As a side note, tanking hits indicates that they don't mind being tunneled and from my perspective a chase is a chase - then I'll just count a few seconds in my head until the timer expires and smack you afterwards. It's actually pretty funny to see how people who thought they were doing a power play start to panic as soon as the BT timer starts to trickle down.

This isn't quite true tho. Yesterday in the EGC two survivors were left in the game (the other two escaped). The injured survivor managed to unhook the other survivor. Downed her and chased the unhooked survivor who opened the exit gate in the meantime. I downed her too. I had no other option than to risk DS, otherwise she would have crawled out the exit gate. She had stopped right at the end to T-bag a bit.
I didn't have any option. This is a very similar situation like it was killer body blocking in the basement. These are the second chances what some of the killers complain about.

That's the exact same result as if the injured survivor just escaped though, 1 kill (as I assume you got the person you downed first after the unhooked survivor escaped). If anything it's better as you got some extra BP and chasing for emblems in at the end.

That's a very creative way to interpret it, but that was not what was said at all. We mentioned the usage rate in response to a question asking about survivor perks that shared the same usage rate (there are none, barring Self Care). We also mentioned looking into the more abusive side of Decisive Strike right after.
11 -
Same way you bully with ruin. You dont.
You just do totems. Or complain. That seems to work more.
1 -
Wouldn't this conversation be easier to have if we just had the actual usage rates of DS, Adrenaline, DH, and BT at the red ranks?
1 -
Yes exactly, just because DS...

Hook tech, locker DS, interrupt DS. Happens all the time
0 -
Which from what you said was working just as intended, the survivor that used it didn't even "go out of their way" to use it by running in front of your or anything. They got unhooked, you slugged the savior and then downed them and picked them up. From how you explained it the exact same result could've happened if the unhooker had Borrowed Time, if everything happened as fast as you make it sound like it did.
You're not entitled to a kill until the survivor in question is dead. That's no better than survivors that go on about how they "would've escaped" if they didn't get hit by NOED or something.

So what IS the reason for nerfing Ruin due to being used so much, while ignoring survivor perks that are just as over-used? Why do you all still ignore the REASON why so many killers use Ruin? Stop exclusively pandering and balancing for just one side, even the way you respond to killers on the forums is so rude compared to how more you care about survivor mains crying.
1 -
And as the person who opened this discussion said people use it for toxic purposes. The person who escaped stopped at the exit gate to t-bag.
You can counter NOED, you can’t counter DS close to the exit gate. This simple...

Hook tech just puts 2 survivors in a situation where they can't do anything. It's an invitation to sit and camp, because gens won't be getting done.
Locker ds gives you a choice of whether you want to wait out the timer, eat the ds or go for someone else. There shouldn't be much left on the timer, unless you just tunnelled the poor sap off the hook, so it's on you if you get yourself in a standoff with someone with a full timer.
Interrupt ds - if you suspect someone is baiting it, just lunge. Easy counter
I'm still failing to see how any of these is considered bullying

Thats because they have a variety of perks that will serve similar function and potency.

Here the thing tho as devs you say it in the Q&A we thought that ruin has problematic AND have hight pick rate, you "fix" the perk because was a problem for the game not because has 80% pick rate. At the same time you denied that perks like DS and BT are problematic for the game because reasons and to justify that you say that those perk are not close to 80%.
Reason why ruin was it help passively the killer same with DS and BT as the killer you don't know how many survivors have those perks and you are force to play in a way that help survivors having or not those perks
Now regarding the pick rate of a perk let's play a game we have 100 killers and 400 survivors now all of them are red ranks. Using your data and our experience we know that 80 killers out 100 use ruin and 50-75% from the survivors side use at least one of those two perks ( DS and BT). What we get from that please leave you answer.
0 -
Dont forget bodyblocking with bt... I mean the killer dont tunnel but cant get the healthy survivor because the unhooked guy dont have to fear to go down and block the way
0 -
Okay. Easily countered assumes that bodyblocking does not exist. Dude when you get off the hook and have bt, ofc you gonna take that hit for the other lol.
0 -
Now that Ruin has been shown to be useless and does not fill the role you expected it to, do you guys plan on buffing killers to make up for the Ruin nerf, or will you revert the Ruin nerf?
0 -
hook bombing during EGC. that's the epitome of trolling with BT & DS.
0 -
It's took you years to change DS and after the feedbacks and the many videos on YouTube and twitch you still have done nothing you only say "we look about it " witch mean it's not hight in our to do list so just wait just a little longer.
1 -
I don't feel like the ruin changes are really that big of a deal. I understand that the devs are trying to balance the game. But seriously???? Where's my Pinhead? I want pinhead as the next killer or I'm gonna write a mild letter to your parents. :P

no couterplay
0 -
That's literally what happened to selfcare.
2 -
Play a few red rank matches, you'll see really fast that it's impossible to actually get kills through those invincibility perks unless survivors let you
0 -
Apparently less than Lithe is.. I think it's time we nerf Lithe... and Pig... :(
0 -
Self-care was insanely broken, you could fully heal yourself mid-chase because of how fast it was.
0 -
It's was the only problem they can "fix" in order to slow the game
