A week ago they said they are not removing the ranks from endgame screen. They are so up to their eyeballs in their own lies, they don't even know what's going on anymore. 🤣🤣

They're removing the visible ranks because they're removing ranks entirely while they transfer over to the new matchmaking system.

The release of these changes will be gradual. With the release of the mid-chapter update, we are able to start tracking skill levels. For the time being, this is only a test and is not being used for matchmaking purposes. Once we are confident that the skill rating is working as intended, we will be running tests on live servers.
When this happens, you may notice some disparity in ranks during your matches. This is to be expected as rank will no longer be used for matchmaking purposes at this time. To avoid confusion, we are considering removing ranks from the post-match scoreboard once testing is complete, as they will no longer be relevant to matchmaking.

Not sure if you skipped to the end, but matchmaking and ranking are both being completely changed. Yes, ranks will be hidden at some point, but only because they are not going to be used for matchmaking. Instead, we'll be using a different method to track skill (independent of emblems) and matching you based on that.

you realize this will change nothing right ? real problem is swf groups.. playing solo is really easy in swf even dumbest players are piping like crazy.. so yes they are covering ranks becasue of swf, so really nothing will change, only that that really bad solo players and killers will have longer que times and all swf groups as now will have big que times..
its only for shut people up about bad matchmaking... like im ok with ranking system, but real cancer of this game in balance wise is swf.

I think I speak for all of us when I say: Remember when you, and your white knights went and dismissed the leaked patch notes as incorrect because they said you were going to hide ranks?
This new update, while a step in the right direction, proves you guys were simply going to hide them anyway had the notes not been leaked; and BHVR wonders why their relationship with their players is tainted and is in such awful standing. Try being up front with us the first time in the future, and maybe you guys will get less of the (much earned) hate you guys get. You guys need to remember why your game is popular. It was 30% BHVR, 70% the community. Honesty is important, and we've put up with enough broken patches and shady crap to deserve full transparency at the very least; and not just when convenient. All the time.

I did read the entire thing. And it's complete opposite from what we were told about a week ago regarding ranks in the endgame screen. Also how would players be aware if they're being matched with an opponent of an equal skill, except your word that the system is working as intended?

It makes sense since rank will mean nothing with the changes.
Let's just hope they show each players "Skill Level" as replacement so we actually can tell we're being matched with people on the same level and not just have to trust it.

Problem is, this system seems like it could be easily abused. You can end up having highly skills players just repeatedly lose just to get lowered to bulldoze the low skill players. I'm hoping this won't be the case, but let's face it. We know that there are people who do this crap already!

Its to fix matchmaking. If you make rank pointless everyone of your skill level can be put in your match.
If a good player that hasn't grind to rank 1 in a few seasons plays they'll play with rank 1 skilled players faster.
Vs them being put far back with the current 1-20 system

Obviously, players don’t know if they’re being matched with equally skilled players or not. It’s hidden which absolves BHVR of any blame for their horrid horrid matchmaking 😆

Which means there's a problem with rank and that where the problem lies. Removing the rank does not solve the issue that a player who should be rank 12 was able to get to rank 2. Last rank reset I got to red rank survivor without touching a single gen. You don't see a problem with that?

Tracking skill sounds great! Hopefully that'll lead to better matchmaking. Now, if only we could attach some sort of, I dunno, numerical value to that skill that players could see.... maybe like a rank or something...

To be fair this is something many of us has asked for.
An mmr system for matchmaking and the ranking just becomes a monthly goal as they have said these will have some sort of incentive recently in a post.

Will we be able to see that "skill rating" though? Because thats an important issue. No one is going to trust the new matchmaking system after they saw what is happening now.
You know what I mean. No matter the system or your motivation, not letting people review the results by themselves automaticaly accuses you of manipulation. I know you dont have bad intentions, but matchmaking results need to stay visible for everyone, just for the sake of trust between players and developers.

They actually didn't. They said they were not being removed in the 3.5.0 patch nothing more.
They were actually very careful with how it was worded and why some of us posted that but also after it that its possible in the future as it wasn't written as a closed case.

There are posts about on these forums saying "ranks aren't being removed from the tally screen". It wasn't specified whether or not it was in the Doc patch. Some may have specified, some haven't. It doesn't invalidate my argument.

I will quote Peanits from a post stating ranks were being removed when it was all happening.

Honestly the new matchmaking just sounds like MMR in league, CS:GO or Rainbow 6. Those games do pretty well with matchmaking so if DBD uses them as a framework then I think they can probably fix it up to be pretty good.

Except skill level and rank are heavily tied together in those games and are shown at some point to the other players you are playing with. R6 also has a restriction on mmr that can group up together, so you dont have your Diamond friends playing with Silvers. What BHVR is doing is putting a brown paper bag on the your ugly cousin and telling you to get to it.

Hey guys, remember dedicated servers? I don't know how some people can still have such blind faith when, while good in theory, have had questionable execution.

Oh wait wait wait. Is this going to be a Rocket League situation where just winning the match counts as a point in your skill to a point where you can still be carried to much higher ranks by your teammates?
And where the teammates sacrificing themselves for you will in turn HURT their skill points for the match as they didn't escape?
What about sandbagging? Does that gain or subtract a skill point? Would it be depending on how skillful and clever the sandbag was?
Oh, and would it also include where a killer can facecamp you and force you down a skill level because you were unable to do ANYTHING that match?
And for killer, will that also take basement camping killers up in skill because they can get easy multi-kills if people come in for the saves?
I know you have this planned, and I know these arise as issues in the current ranking system.
But for survivor side would it detect that you were physically UNABLE to do anything in the round and prevent you from going down in skill level?
Similarly as a killer would it detect that you stayed within so many meters of the hook and what perks you used to try to base if you truly earned your kills or not?
Will the skill levels be based in category? Ability to win chases/escape the killer, Objective Ability, Altruistic Ability?
Survivors who can run the killer for 5 gens will do just that. Would they gain heavily in the Runner category?
Would matchmaking then pair those who have higher stats in the different categories to form what would be the 'ideal' team?
I'm not saying a skill based matchmaking system is a bad idea.... But not exactly optimal for a game where you can play scummy and cheap ways to gain skill points as a killer, and are forced to rely on your teammates as a survivor.

If you're not going to show the MMR of the players after the match is over, then it is no different than simply hiding ranks. It isn't exactly going to be easy for you to determine skill in this game due to so many factors influencing it, and if we go off how you measure skill based on emblems and pips I can safely say I already have a severe lack of optimism for this.
Games that have this type of system generally have "leagues" so you can compare your skill relative to others and know what you're up against, or they show you your MMR. Masking everything isn't going to do a lot, and even then it won't change the fact that, factoring in MMR, ping and skill of other people in the match, the game will still create unfair games like it does now - you just won't see it.
I suppose we'll see how it turns out, though it doesn't really make a difference to me

You'll know if you get matched with someone of your equal skill depending on how good you perform isn't it obvious? Like whenever I get matched with a terrible killer I know he isn't as skilled as me if I'm able to pull off five 360s in a row and loop him for 5 minutes straight and I know when I'm going up against terrible survivors when they either go down in 15 seconds after starting a chase or they don't work on gens (or both lmfao).

Most likely SPM (score per minute) total match time divided by points earned will decide your skill rating.

They never said they would never remove ranks. I also read the hole thing and they stated that they would not remove the ranks with last week's patch as it was first intended so they didn't lie... the ranks are still shown.
About your last frase/question... are you seriously asking that?! How will you know? The same way you know it now, by playing and analyzing by yourself ofcourse! If you get payred up with players a lot worst than you or a lot better than you you will notice it. If you get paired up with players with more or less the same skill level than you, you will notice it too... Once they confirm the skill system is working fine, you will have all the legitimacy to ask for nerfs and buffs! In my view, it's a win/win situation!

I agree that new matchmaking has great potential and that I think we can trust that devs will define "winning" properly, but if you cant see Skill Rating in the end game screen, then there will be no way to tell if it really works or not.

Oh we read it, but we have no PROOF that our game is against players of comparable skill. We don’t even know what “skillful play,” is... is going gens and hitting great skills skill? Is a long chase dropping pallets considered less skillful than a long chase without using pallets? Is hiding all game and escaping hatch skillful?
You won’t ever tell us, this will all be hidden so all we have is your word that the system is working.
