Almost 140€ if you want the entire content including the game itself.
Or time to be famous on twitch (to earn cash from donations like all the famous and rich streamers) sadly is really hard to become famous (about 200/300 viewers per stream). (And harder to find people who donate to you)
Still need Jane to complete the last challenge of the lvl 1 tome 2.

Like behaviour would ever do that, but you can use Iridescent shards to buy half of the DLC’s so it ain’t that bad

You can buy Jane with Iridescent... I think... I can't confirm because I already bought all the DLC.

You actually need to buy Doctor AND spirit. As well as jane... so good luck saving all those shards up, casually.

From a business standpoint, there is no reason at all to make the game free to play as long as it's still making money and has a sizable playerbase as a paid game.

Thats why they put those challenges off to the side, so you can complete the tome without having to do those challenges.

And for those that *want* to complete all the challenges (which helps in completing the rift, and even doing all challenges, as i recall, wont even get you fully there. etc)... they will have to either BUY or save up... and good luck saving up for all those shards. It's quite a lot.

You can always go back and complete those challenges later. I know I actually had 12 unfinished challenges for the last rift and still managed to complete the rift.

Team Fortress 2 went free to play and got a major problem with hackers. I know Dead by Daylights had a few in the past, but imagine trying to grind to max rank while a trapper teleports behind you and all you can say is thanks doc.

Doc comes with base game now.
9000 shards for a character doesn't take that long. I bought yui and oni with shards the day they came out and had like 3k left over. I don't play every day. And when i do its maybe 2 hours at a time. I have 14k now.

Doctor is only free to play on consoles. He still has to be bought on PC.

I meant maybe a month later, not after the rift is over. You can go back and do challenges from the first level, even after the 4th one has dropped. Theres only 3 challenges on level one that need Doc, Spirit or Jane, so if you skip those for now and do em later...you still have plenty of time to farm the shards.

The challenges are optional, just like buying the DLC they are related to.
I don't understand what you're complaint is. If you want to do the challenges, buy the DLC. Through shards, cells or cash. If you don't want to buy the DLC, don't do the challenges. o.O

Depends on how they do it.
TF2 and CSGO did it just fine. You got free items/hats and premium membership.
Secret World did it very poorly. By mass discounting lifetime memberships to trick everyone into buying them. Then launching Secret World Legends where your grandmaster didn't transfer, tons of content cut, and all sorts of stuff.
Lord of the Rings Online did it perfectly fine as well. With many staying after it went f2P.
My point is, DO NOT pull a Funcom. Even if it is just giving us like $10 of store credit like Nintendo did when their web browser and DVD playback (Japan only) for the Wii went free. Nintendo just refunded you the Wii points.

At most I've seen 20% off but even then is a big price to ask when I can buy the game and all the dLC that comes with the switch version for cheaper on steam during a winter sale. Plus I can get blood warden then.

There would have to be HEAVY rewards, like SUBSTANTIAL rewards for original owners; and not just a damn charm, either. It would have to be a plethora of rewards.
Also, Funcom redeemed themselves. They released Conan Exiles, which is superb.

I'd be fine with a refund of the base game in store credit. It's not like all the DLC is going free.
Throw in some free old timer skins too.
