Honestly, sometimes DCing as killer has made me enjoy the game as killer more
I've been thinking about the red rank killer experience. I honestly do not meant this in a toxic way, but I have shifted how I play and view this game. Hear me out.
In the past, I felt very strongly to never DC. I felt this way because when survivors DC, it makes it much harder for their team and it sucks. And I never DCed as killer because in my past philosophy, I focused on just doing my best, learning, and improving.
On this forum, I read someone say, DC when you're not having fun - thats what it is there for. And I realized that maybe they were right so I decided to try it. I realized a few reasons. 1) This game is not balanced at the red ranks. Playing killer is much harder against survivors of red rank skill. 2) The killer perspective has been ignored by the Devs in their language, in the choice of perks they decide to look at, and in their live stream. 3) Why play when you're not having fun? 4) If the survivors are upset about a killer DC, then they should be frustrated with the Devs not the killer.
So, the first time I DCed was on Haddonfield (survivor offering) where all of them were running iron will and balanced landing. By the time I got my first hook (It was a difficult chase), 3 gens had popped. I found another person and she started the same Haddonfield loop and I just thought, this isn't fun. And I DCed
I got a new game very quickly. I think killers may be in in short supply. And my next game was a lot better! The end result of the next game was 3 kill (and a very close escape) and overall a really fun game. I don't know how fun it was for the survivors but they all said gg and we moved on.
Since that time, if I get a really hard blood lodge or a cold wind farms map and gens are popping super fast, I just DC. It isn't fun, so way should I play it?
I think the most interesting thing is that I haven't dropped significantly in rank. It is true that I don't DC all the time and only DC when I'm not enjoying it.
And honestly, it is the Devs job to balance the game, and my focus should be on my fun.

Disconnecting when losing is a surefire way to learn from mistakes and get better at the game 🙄

Though I am against it myself, I understand it. Plus it's easy to find games as killer

I only do under 2 conditions 1. It's a map I absolutely despise, and 2. If I'm running a hex perk and it gets destroyed before I even find a survivor.

There's a difference between disconnecting because you're losing and disconnecting because you aren't having fun.

So true. I immediately DC when i get the Yamaoka maps or any other dark map because you just can't adjust the brightness on console. I refuse to play a walking simulator because it's impossible to find survivors on dark maps.

Although I agree with you, sometimes you wont get anything from match but frustration.
A perfect example is going against a SWF in an map of their choosing. Not only are you fighting an unfair mechanic, which the game is not balanced for, but you are also doing it in a map that will most likely be stacked against you.
This is a stomp, not a learning experience. No point in seeing through the end.
An NO, they're not rare as the devs try to make them to be; in fact, they are quite regular on PS4.
