The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

Hey devs, if you're so torn apart between balancing for rank 20 and rank 1, here's an idea...

Hear me out, you cannot just balance this game for noobs, I dont care what your player base stats are. How about this: each rank a survivor climbs, the gen speed becomes more difficult. Brown rank = 70 seconds, yellow = 80, green = 90, purple = 100, and red = 110 seconds. Im assuming your first thought is " No way! Survivors would hate this, and throw games to drop rank!" Okay, perhaps, but personally, I believe if you gave more incentive to rank up, in fun ways, people would be happy to climb the ladder. Give us cosmetics for reaching different ranks, give us charms. Give us challenges to complete with awesome rewards ton show off, such as a flashy skin for staying at rank 1 for 3/5/10 consecutive games, etc. Give me incentive to play at the highest level, on the highest difficulty, so that I can show off my rare skin to the rest of my teammates. Seriously, I believe this would help with gen speed balance, and offer more rewarding grind to the game.

Gens are the most boring thing about survivor gameplay but hey ho that's the main objective

Most people would play on low ranks. Some would get to the high ranks just to get the rewards, and then play on low ranks for the rest of the time. A small percentage would like to have a challenge and play on high ranks all the time.

    Increasing gen times is unreasonable.

There has been nothing added to the game in YEARS that makes gens go faster, the only thing that has happened is the game has been made easier for killers, yes there's still some really AWFUL maps, but other than that survivors have had nerfs to their addons/op perks across the board, not to mention numerous pallet reductions, speed of killer animations and other changes etc so simply increasing gens times is a net buff to EVERY killer.

It would make killers like nurse/billy/freddy/spirit/oni nigh on impossible to play against while making every other killer pretty much unbeatable against an average player at best.

Generator speeds aren't the problem - game speed is. Generator speed is just one of many factors that contribute to that, albeit a prominent one. There are much better and more engaging ways to improve game speed than just forcing survivors to hold M1 for longer. Adjusting toolboxes, shrinking maps and expanding on secondary objectives like the totem system are just a few examples, all of which the devs have confirmed plans to address.

Only 4400 hours why is it that anyone who disagrees must be new? New doc is better and neither him or the legion change made gens quicker, and neither did the ruin rework.

I was a Survivor main since I start the game last year, but now I play Trapper.

I dont use old Ruin, so Gen done is madly fast before the Ruin nerf anyway. But I dont want Gen time increase because its super boring, no interaction.

As a Survivor, I prefer Killers to use Noed than Ruin. The chase/sneaking to avoid 1 hit down, finding Noed to help hooked Survivor before EGC done. Is much more intense, interaction to me.

So yes,Either BHVR adds a secondary objective or go home.

Gen times should never increase a drastic amount

I'm sure you do agree, which is why you added 30 seconds per gen...

No need to explain yourself, I was already sure you agreed. Glad you're on board :)

no bait here, just a good killer who doesn't think increasing gen times based on a number that means nothing will help the game.

110 seconds is crazy. What are we doing about camping and tunneling, out of curiosity? Killers would never lose a game with this “strategy”. No offense but it’s shortsighted to suggest stuff like this but not realize how many players would just take advantage and dominate. If gens can go up to 110 sec, you better be giving the killer another objective...or something that completely eliminates that playstyle. No honor system aka “killers wouldn’t do this stuff if they had more time”. We know that’s not true. They would all day.

Honestly if "holding M1" is too boring; Devs could always make Skill Checks more frequent - varying their rotation speeds; increasing their frequency and rotation speed variance (as gens are repaired... instead of this pathetic Skill Check system that is in place now that you may get lucky and see 5 during a full repair --- or none! Even if they have to remove BP gains from Checks or reduce 'Great' efficiency gains.

Seriously though; I think just increasing BP gains based on rank tier: Brown - No change; Yellow - 25%; Green - 50%; Purple - 75%; Red - 100% - would give plenty of incentive for people to not want to DC/de-Pip as much.

That's another option, yes. Although diversifying skill checks also has the probable downside of increasing the learning curve for new survivors, which is probably not the best direction for the game to be moving in, considering how steep that curve already is.

I stated nothing about what I believe or not. I just criticised how you opened the thread. There are some common things like your "I don't care about you, you should care about me" or the more common "I'm pissed, so the game's gonna die" which would make me instantly ignore the post as it does not seem very reflected. That's all I say. Take it as feedback

Yes but I dont really think there are many things that could incentivize people to stay at those ranks for what most would consider a worse experience, I think that they should make it harder to rank up so that tanking up actually means something and then add cosmetics for staying at higher ranks, or something, idk the whole game is a ######### show right now.

Holding M1 is boring and I agree.

Don't we all think that learning how to hit ruin skill checks actually made generators some what challenging/fun?

I mean there honestly wasn't anything wrong with ruin and now we have this huge backlash of problems it's created making it easier for the noobs to deal with.

I'm not being funny but EVERY DAMN GAME my hex will spawn right beside where the survivors do.

We need a perk or something that makes skill checks harder and more challenging.

Maybe introduce perks that can only be used if the killer is a rank.

Red rank perks, Purple rank perks etc.
