As a survivor, how do I counter whispers
The only thing I've seen that works is hiding in the basement as it would be time consuming to the killer if no one is in there and it's always the last place they check even if they are slugging for a 4k. I've tried out spine-chill, but by the time I figure out a good place to hide, they won't leave as they've narrowed down my general location. Is there any other way to hide or evade a killer if they are using whispers?

The only way to avoid being found by a killer using whispers is either by masking where you are by being near another survivor OR by following the killer around, so their whispers is almost always on.
But neither solutions are that good and if a killer is good enough and you're the last survivor you will be found. It's just a matter of when you will be found... unless you're lucky enough to get the hatch.

I don't think there's anything beyond simply hide. If you hear the TR, find a locker. Usually the killer will think you're just crouched somewhere, though it depends on the map really. A single locker will be a telltale sign that you're there, but multiple lockers can distract the killer enough for you to get a headstart, unless they just wander off.

As a killer that uses whispers a lot the best thing you can do is hide and keep moving without running. Even if whispers is going off it doesn't give me an exact location. I might be able to pin down the direction your at but if another survivor is around I cant do that. The biggest issue with whispers is finding someone. If I happen to go to the gen you were working on, whispers goes off and you crouch away. I'll look around and I might find you but I might not. In my experience the ones that hide in 1 spot standing still usually get found. The ones I don't find are the ones that hide somewhere, see me check a spot, then they move to said spot cause I think its clear. Sometimes if I looked all over and I still don't find someone i'll give up and go patrol another gen.
Do Not hide in lockers. Especially at the shack. If whispers is going off at the shack and there's no gens nearby it's pretty obvious your in there. Unless your running head on.

He was asking for advice... Maybe he is even a new player... And you prick have nothing better to do than complaining and trying to start some weird debate.

Whispers doesn't give an exact location...how is that so hard to counter, and are we really complaining about "whispers" of all perks now?

This isn't a complaint thread, please don't derail it.

I run Whispers because it's a very strong perk especially when hatch is closed and last survivors are trying to get gate. I know which one they go to. Though they outsmart me and hide behind walls and when I run by looking, they run back to the place I came from. Completely confusing me sometimes

I get that, but this is usually how it starts - and the only one who really derailed it was you. I was still on topic. So don't derail it. :)

Darn, I really thought there was like a 5000 hour red rank survivor play that I just didn't know of yet. All my friends have pretty much told me the same thing and I just have to hope that they leave.

You didn't even answer their question so...

For me I usually just hide and walk away from the killer. They may have an idea of where you're at but they still have to find you first.

"It doesn't give an exact location" - that's a pretty big tell how to counter Whispers.
dude, quit derailing man, let it go

I'm not complaining it's a good perk, and good killers that use whispers get really good at figuring out not the exact location, but a good indicator of where a survivor might be. I'm not asking for a nerf or rework for a perk like that.

Fair enough. But yeah, it doesn't give an exact location. Your best bet is to stealth your way out of the area, or just keep moving out of the line of sight from the killer. Most killers don't know how to use whispers correctly anyway.
1 -
You don't. It's not that great anyway.

Play killer games with whisper and figure out what its weaknesses are?
3 -
Pebble for distraction and go the opposite way

The range is pretty wide so you should just stay hidden until you can keep moving. Other than that their is no counter.

######### someone finally asked.

Is whispers more effective on larger maps like mothers dwelling or is it better on smaller maps like some of the azorof maps?
0 -
It's more effective on larger maps where patrolling takes more efficiency. On small maps whispers is on too much.

Kinda surprised there's no counter perk. I realize the walking away thing but no actual survivor perk to counter Whispers
1 -
Just keep moving and don't stay in the same area too long. But at the exit gates with last survivor it's a very strong perk as patrolling becomes unnecessary.

(clearly someone only read one post and made a rage post - enjoy prying your foot out of your mouth)
🤣

I read your pretentious late defense posts. Ridiculous. You tried to say OP would complain about the perk but he didn't.
Everything you said after that was pure alibi.
People like you make these forums toxic.

Says the guy who is literally the only one in this thread to have insulted someone. Yes, I must be the toxic one.
1 -
Somebody who pretty much tried to intimidate a player seeking advice with his toxic attitude maybe should be able to handle a mild insult.
He did not say the perk was overpowered.
He did not provoke such a response at all.
Stop trying to make every post a survivor vs killer thing.

I even said "fair enough", which is a retraction. The only one who looks bad right now is you.
Bro, quit being so aggressive and toxic, jeez. You're arguing with yourself. You must have had a bad day. Chill, bro.

I'm not angry or overly aggressive. I am just mildly annoyed by people who constantly misbehave and then pull back in some "oh but I didn't mean it" or "oh you just misunderstood me" way to pretend that there was no initial misbehaviour and then try to victimise themselves.
Have a nice day. And no hard feelings.

- You absolutely were overly aggressive (such is evident with your belittlement and name calling).
- If you weren't angry, you certainly could have fooled me.
- I had a knee jerk reaction. it's not misbehaving, because I didn't break any rules.
- I didn't say I didn't mean it. I meant what I said. I retracted it from this specific situation because even though I meant it, I misunderstood his original post and what I said did not apply. In order to act like there was no initial "misbehavior", I would have to not retract it. Unlike you, I'm not hiding from my actions (you said you weren't overly aggressive, when you were).
- I didn't victimize myself. I retracted my original statement literally yesterday. Today you come on here and go full keyboard warrior. You were in the wrong here. Make no mistake.
But yes, you have a nice day as well. This is where the argument stops. No hard feelings, my dude.

The endgame is pretty much impossible to win as survivor is the killer closed the hatch and has whispers.
1 -
If the killer closed the hatch, it's not supposed to be easy to win as a survivor.
0 -
I'm not exaggerating when I say pretty much impossible. Unless you have a key or the killer is dumb as rocks, you will not escape.
1 -
I thought distortion countered it, but its mainly for aura related perks. I don't think it needs a hard or soft counter other than just getting good at hidding.

I've played survivor. I'm aware. They aren't really supposed to have much of a chance once their last ditch solution (the hatch) has been closed. The killer has killed everyone, and found the hatch first. The killer deserves the very big upper hand. What more do you want?
0 -
Smh that why a purple or red key should always be found in 1 chest per match. Trust me I'm a 5000 hour killer main I know what I'm talking about.
0 -
That's a thing too, yeah. Keys are all too common these days.
Like...the whole "with whispers the survivor has basically no chance during EGC" is just a nonsense argument.
The survivor, who has a plethora, infinite amount of second chances at their disposal...failed to capitalize on every single one of them...they don't deserve the win.

Spine chill. You get a warning if the killer is coming in your direction while they only know you are somewhere near by. If you get good with it you can make some big brain out plays with it and flex on your friends with how good you are

Dunno if it's been said but urban evasion counters it pretty hard. As someone else said move around a lot while not running. Urban makes that pretty easy to stay hidden. But there's no real way to get out if you're the only one left.
