Dev's, What happened to not putting Challenges behind DLC Specific Killers
Pretty sure if you don't own the Doc, you can't complete that generic killer challenge? Did I miss something or were you simply saying, you are not going to stop people from completing the rift?
Killers already got less challenges to do in these tomes than the survivors did and then you guys locked one behind a DLC Character? Why does this one specific challenge not fall in line with the David and Jane ones that are at the very end?
EDIT: Updated the image to be clear which challenge I am referring to.

Every single Killer is available for free. You do not have to use any money to complete the Rift.

I feel as though you missed my point, so let me clarify it. Using tome 1 as example and even Tombs 3 and 4 (because they were leaked), this is the only generic challenge that requires you to own a DLC character.
In every other tomb (1, 3, and 4) you are able to complete all generic challenges without owning the DLC characters. However, in Tomb 2 alone, there is one generic challenge (Killer to be specific, which is more upsetting because there are already way more survivor challenges in this rift than killer) that is locked behind having to own the Doc DLC.
Now to be clear, I own the Doc DLC and can do this challenge, my question has nothing to do with someone's ability to obtain the DLC killer, my question is, why is this specific generic killer challenge locked behind a DLC killer, while no other challenge is? Why not just flip its position with the Doc Challenge to keep it in line with the rest of the tombs?
Killers already got less challenges than survivors, why make it worst by locking people out of one if they don't own Doc?

You get the DLC for free on console and most PC players own it already. You can earn the DLC for free by playing the game.

You can probably make them scream using Infectious Fright or Iron Maiden, but those are also DLC accessible perks you need some hefty shards to unlock. 9000 shards is still quite a bit for many people.
Surprising it is a gateway challenge and the first challenge you need to get past to progress in the killer side (yeah you can go around it via survivor side). I would expect it to be on a branch of challenges.

Are you even reading what I am asking? Or are you just responding with a generic repeat message?
My question, once again, has nothing to do with the ownership of the DLC. It has nothing to do with ones ability to acquire the DLC, either via shards in the game or real life money.
The question is, "Why is this one and only specific challenge behind a DLC Character?" If you look at tomb 1 you were able to complete every challenge without owning any DLC characters. Also if you look around the internet and find the leaked Tomb 3 and 4, you will also notice, no other generic challenge is behind a DLC killer.
I simply don't understand why they didn't flip this challenge with the Doc one, to make it inline with the other 3 Tombs and make it so that you could complete all generic challenges without owning and DLC characters.
That specific challenge is just hook 5 Survivors in one challenge, its actually an easy challenge to complete. To be clear, I am referring to the challenge behind the Doc Challenge, not the Doc Challenge itself.

You can still finish level 2, it just requires you to go through the survivor side of it.
As long as it is finishable is someway without DLC, I don't really see an issue.

IIRC they said you could reach the end of the tome - not necessarily 100% complete it - but reach the end through some path. That's why character specific challenges are on the edges to bot block the path. They also said perks for specific challenges would be on the Shrine to help with this.

Ok...I could not tell from the picture provided.

I´m pretty sure that you can still complete Tome II without buying any characters. Go through the Survivor route.
Plus, it won´t really affect anything, if you really want it, save up some Shards and go back for it later.

it is? how do i get the shape and pig for free?

I've udpate the image to specify, which challenge I am referring to, because I believe there is confusion. I think people think I am talking about the scream one, I am not.
Yes you can still complete the tomb, however, this rift already favors survivors with more challenges, I think its odd, they prevented killers who do not own the Doc, from completing a fairly simple Challenge.
I understand where you are coming from, I just don't understand why they would look one generic challenge out from being completed out of 4 tombs. This is literally the only generic challenge you can not complete out of all 4 tombs. Which literally could be resolved, by just flipping it with the Doc one.
That is why I updated the image, I could see the confusion people were getting to.

I've decided that you are not reading... Please review the Original Post as I have updated the image. And Once again and for the final time. The question has nothing to do with the ability to complete the rift.
I just don't understand why they would lock one generic challenge out from being completed out of all 4 tombs. This is literally the only generic challenge you can not complete out of all 4 tombs. Which literally could be resolved, by just flipping it with the Doc one.

The rift can be finished without any DLCs but the tome can not. There is another discussion about this in another thread. I get it to use certain perks that are in the SoS but owning characters that you don't even play to complete the tome. Sad.

The challenges are organized in such a way that you can always reach the end of the Tome without having those characters, not necessarily so you can complete every other challenge.
Neither of those characters are available for shards, so we will not be using them in Tomes. Only characters that can be purchased with shards are eligible.
7 -
That discussion seems to be based on completing all of the challenges. My question is more specific, as I want to know why we can complete all generic challenges in this entire rift except this one? Why is this one specific generic killer challenge locked behind the doctor when no other generic challenge is?
0 -
The Dev's said it wouldn't cost any real money to complete the rift, not that the challenges would not be behind free to play characters. If you don't have the Iri shards to buy Doctor now, you can buy him later. The challenges, and bloodpoints are not going anywhere. Just the Rift Fragments - which collect some after each match you partake in anyways.

So, what is the big deal? One challenge out of the whole Rift? It is not stopping you from completing anything, right?
0 -
It is complete horsecrap to hide a generic challenge behind a DLC specific one, that is just a really poor choice
1 -
Peanits, I just don't understand why out of all four tombs (yes leaks sorry), that this is the only generic challenge like this?
Killers already got less challenges to do in these tombs than the survivors did and then you guys locked one behind a DLC Character? Why does this one specific challenge not fall in line with the David and Jane ones that are at the very end?
0 -
There is also second locked challenge for killers for those not owning DLC, it's from the right side.

Open the game, Look at Tomb 1, Look at Tomb 2. Where are the Jane and David Challenges... All the way at the very end. You can complete all of those generic survivor challenges without every playing or owning those characters.
Killers already got less challenges to complete than survivors in the first place? Why place this one generic challenge behind the Doctor, when you didn't place any behind Jane or David?
I am not saying I can't complete this, once again, I own the Doctor. I am asking, why make this choice when it could have just been flipped?
0 -
Not sure. They never said that you would be able to 100% every Tome, just that you would be able to complete every Tome and the Rift.
0 -
I don't see any other challenge on tomb 2 that is behind a killer specific challenge. To the best of what I can see the challenge I pointed to on the left side is the only challenge like this.
0 -
Yes and I understand that. I just don't understand why out of 4 tombs (once again leaks) This is the only challenge that can not be completed. Doesn't that seem like an odd choice to you? Why would you make this the only challenge that couldn't be completed? I would kinda understand if it was the scream one, because obviously that would be easier with Doc than anyone else... But it's literally just hook 5 people?
No other generic challenge, survivor or killer is behind a DLC Challenge in this entire rift? It just seems like an odd choice.
0 -
Maybe its a design choice of some sort. I can't say for certain but it's probably just a coincidence. No real need to dig too deep on it. Unless it brings up a real issue which it doesnt

Sorry, I meant hidden behind DLC killer perks.
0 -
On pc they got to pay for doc and hag in th think
0 -
Isnt there one where you have to hit a survivor after post phasing with spirit ??
0 -
Been bugging me the whole thread. Its Tome, not Tomb.
3 -
I see what you are saying as you must complete the Doctor one before being able to do the generic killer one.
I tend to agree and the Doctor one should be at the end of the line not in the middle.
2 -
Most players on PC own them, wasn't there something about giving them out for free on PC a while ago?
0 -
Sorry, i was refering to the first claim, but there were posts afterwards, which i didnt realize. Sorry for the confusion.
0 -
Does this also mean there will be no additional lore to licensed dlc characters?
0 -
I will explain you becuz seems you didnt noticed it. Those challenges are doctor related right? They did made one with overcharge another with monitor and abuse so... The only perk is overwhelming presence how would be a challenge with overwhelming?
-Use overwhelming on a game thats not a challenge
-Consume one item of a survivor with overwhelming? Literally imposible (thats not a challenge) I mean no survivor would use the item when its about to be consumed
So they put a generic one to compensate.
Enought answer for you?

Y'all... It would be extremely boring if we only got lore and challenges for the few characters that are completely free. Not to mention you can get all these challenge dlc characters for free as well. Just need to collect enough shards.Edit: nvm didn't read the op properly at first. Ignore this

This is a good observation. Locking a generic challenger behind a DLC killer or perks that require DLC shouldn’t happen. They could easily swap the placements of those challenges.
0 -
Technically, on console you don't need to buy Doc, and on PC, you can earn both over time. Whether or not you'll do that is an entirely different question.
0 -
There is one for grabbing a survivor, one for using Spirit Fury, one for using Rancor... and yes, there is one for hitting one with the grudge score event (post-phase hit).
0 -
He's referring to Iri Shards. You can buy every (non-licensed) killer for free with Iri shards. It just takes a long time.
0 -
Jesus christ people in this community will really complain about anything
0 -
With all due respect, killers take a sizable amount of shards to buy. And judging by how harsh the shard grind can be, I still think it’s unfair to make someone have to spend 9k shards just to read a few paragraphs and get a small reward. Maybe if you gave killers a shard/auric cell discount whenever they’re featured in a tome, it would be much more reasonable to have them in the tomes in the first place.

This was less of a complaint and me being more curious as to why this one challenge was laid out this way, since its unlike every other challenge in any of the tomes
