Is it okay to give the last survivor the hatch???

I'm new to DBD but I've been playing killer the most and what I usually do is if I manage to kill all but one survivor and I know I've pipped at least once, I let the last one have the hatch. Is that okay???

I usually just walk around and look for them, you can stand at the hatch but they will just wait for you to hit them so they can jump in since they know if they jump in you'll just pull them out and there is this big stand off and who has time for that? People are mad because they think its basically a free escape for the survivor.

There's two sides to this when it comes to giving someone to hatch in my opinion.

The first one is that if you are a killer and you see the hatch first and it's the only route for escape you knock down to Survivor and drag them towards the hatch. That's if they've been a good little untoxic Survivor.

The second one is if you don't see the hatch or the Survivor has been extraordinarily toxic the entire match then go ahead and just kill him.

To be honest the way the ranking system is now I really should have just given more survivors to hatch because I really don't want to be ranked 1

Do what you want. There's nothing wrong with giving the hatch away, unless you're telling people to expect it from everyone.

I usually go after the last person intending to kill them, but if they reach the hatch I just hit them and let them go through. I'm not going to waste my time on a hatch standoff, and slugging the third while I hunt for the fourth is also boring to me.

OTOH, If I think the last survivor got a raw deal (only decent player on a bad team, got sandbagged/farmed) I'll actively give them the hatch.

I'll let them have the hatch mostly to save time. On rare occasions where I really liked the survivor's spirit and spunk, I'll even carry them to the hatch as a final GG.

If the survivor has done well or had ######### teammates yeah, i take them to the hatch.

I give the hatch because I’m afraid of double pipping and guess what?! I still double pip even after the survivor takes the hatch  :( #fail

If it's a hatch game chances are you pipped, probably double pipped. I usually just let them have it it if goes on too long. Not wasting my time with standoff BS.

I'm actually too nice as killer.

When i'm playing Nurse, sometimes I'll let three people live. Usually they got dominated so hard that I felt kinda bad. I do get extra BP for it tho.

If there are disconnects, I usually let the remainder go.

And of course, the golden rule: Laurie always gets the hatch.

You are employed by the entity to kill survivors. By letting them escape intentionally you might lose your job

If I'm in a good mood, so yeah! I'll let them go into the Hatch~^^

    If not, don't even try...

It's 100% okay. You are the killer, it's your decision if you want to kill them or let them go.

I agree with the "raw deal" comment. I've sadly lost track of the number of times, particularly as of late, where while chasing two survivors side by side, they'll try and go through a pallet drop and the first one through drops the pallet blocking the second. Someone that's had to deal with that sort of BS or other such fellow survivor drama I'll probably hand hatch over to.

Do what you want. But don't expect survivors to give you a free sacrifice if you can't kill anyone during the match.
And don't expect gratitude from them. They might even insult you for giving the hatch.

Don't expect it, but understand that there are survivors out there that will take a hook for a killer who had a bad match. I have no problem in doing that, and I also give the hatch when I play as a killer. In either situation, I'm walking away with more than enough points, more than likely.

It's really easy to forget that there is a person on the other end of that connection, and this game can get really frustrating sometimes. You don't need that 4k, nor do you need to survive every match. Just go in, get your BPs and pips, and have a good time.

I´ve been insulted by survivors, because i gave a hatch to someone else.
Or because they thought that me passing 2 hooks and going straight for the hatch was a dumb mistake instead of intentional.

Trust me, I'm not trying to take away from anything you've experienced. I wasn't replying to you, more of adding to what you said. I should have made that clear.

These forums are probably one of the more truly "toxic" aspects of the community. Every post is just two hugboxes warring it out over who is in the right, and it seeps into the mindset of more and more people as they join. It's like a microcosm for identity politics. People just need to keep in mind that it's not every survivor, not every killer, and not every match.

Excuse me, but i have done that many times as a survivor, especially to the ones who didnt camp, who doesnt give up after eating 10 pallets and yet play "fairly" or are clearly newbies. When i'm solo it's just me, but when being on SWF all our team has sacrificed in some of these matches.

You are excused. After feeding me 10 pallets, you go directly to the basement.

Jokes aside. I only encountered a handful of survivors who would offer me a free hook. The grand majority just is plain toxic and insults even after i dropped them in the basement instead of killing them with their last hook. Ochido did a lot of damage to our community.

Of course it´s not every survivor or killer.
The majority of our players are simply normal players and not even toxic. But those toxic ones cause so much trubble, that this game is at the same time the most played and most frustrating one. Or do you know any other games where people say after 1000+ hours that the game sucks?
It has something addicting to it and (with some adjustments and balanance changes) could be a great tournament game.
For example, tydetyme was commenting yesterday on a tournament and it was really interesting to watch, but i´m going off topic.

I usually give them the hatch only because some killers have done that for me. Also, if anyone of the 4 survivors disconnect, I BP farm because I know it can be annoying and unfair when someone does that. I'm a nice killer. Ooops.

If I saw where the hatch was, am nearby, and in a good mood, yeah, I'll give it to them.

Oh now i understand why a survivor today ran on me instead of run away. He gave me a free hook. If i knew he did it on purpose i would thank him for his fair play... I'm playing on ps4 and sadly 95% of the survivors are toxic. So a fair play survivor is really surprising. So surprising that i didn't even thought about a free hook. Well i don't know if you will read this bro but thank you. X)

It’s up to you. When I play survivor and I don’t know where the hatch is, I literally just hold down shift and sprint all over the entire map to look for it. I have no desire to hide for half an hour and only maybe get it. If I find it and get it, great. If the killer kills me, gg and onto the next game.

I only rarely let the last survivor have the hatch when I play killer. Mostly they find it before I do anyways though, which is fine with me.
