Devour Hope, do you use it?

Decided to jump on the topic before another certain forum member posts it! 😁

I just started using it and it is so wonderful seeing survivors panic when they get insta-downed. It sucks though, since more often than not, the totems spawns out in the open. I found that it is best used with Hag and probably Trapper(with good add-ons) since they can defend the totems if they're in a corner.

I use it a lot. One of the better hex perks. Devour hope on doctor is insane, because you can camp it and keep them off. I don't care about the mori potential, I care about the Insta down and panic it causes.

I usually get at least 1 down, sometimes 2. Lately though because people have been focusing so hard on gens, I've been getting mori's pretty often. I'll usually do 1 mori, on the first person I down at 5 stacks, then hook the rest. It depends though, if there's only 1 gen left then it's moris for days.

I never defend my totems. It feels like I get more use out of them if Survivors don't see me running over there every couple seconds. Maybe because they think I'm just running Haunted Grounds or something. Devour Hope is useful on any Killer though, unless they've got a built-in OHKO like Bubba or Billy. On Spirit it is just godly if you can catch 2 Survivors quickly at 3 stacks.

I got great use out of it on Myers. Being able to hold stalk at 99% with DH at 3+ stacks is amazing. With stalking being such a limited resource, and how it's a bit broken atm, you can keep some for the late game and hold off burning those precious T3 moments while you have DH active.

Part of my build on nearly every killer. Doctor is brutal with the shock and keeping people hooked away from the totem and staying near it yourself. Other killers do benefit if you can hope it is semi-hidden enough to put pressure and force them to try to find it with you around it.

No, in red ranks, it gets destroyed before you even activate it.

    Useless perk

Well last time I even attempted to use devour hope, I got no use from it as it would be destroyed after 30 sec to 2 min. Honestly, I would try it out if I knew I would have any use from it.

Also that right when i'm about to reach 24m mark, survivor gets saved.

Honestly NOED feels like a better perk as survivors rarely do dull totems, amking it so I get a use out of it compared to Devour Hope.

I hope to never get to red ranks. I sweat enough now that I am in purple.

I run it with Ruin and hope they cleanse Ruin and forget about all other totems until it is too late. As long as it's not out in the open, it makes the match delicious!

My favorite perk in the game. Yes it rarely comes into play. But the potential is there and is the absolute best 'genrush'.....objective driven! counter perks in the game

More than half the time people find it anyway before I get to use it but when it does, oh boy oh boy is it fun to turn the tables. Last 1 or 2 survivors hiding and scared shitless, trying to look for the totem.

Yes, I do. As stated from the others, it can be destroyed but at least it is insidious. No warranty you will get a 4 devour moris, but very often it let you get some insane insta-downs, some slugging potential if combined with infectious fright and moreover.. they stop doing gens. So, it is worth. Can't be compared with the early game pressure of old ruin, but defenitively better of it's current version

    The best Hex perk.

Not that it means its a particulairly strong perk, but at least its usable. Works wonders vs potatoes, can get you a suprise down or 2 against good surviviors, but most of the time its cleansed before its useful. Try using Haunted Ground to defend it.

How dare you stealing my series? First of all, it has a certain order, devour hope wasn't next, it was rancor. Secondly, it's just mean to have something nice and someone to take that away from you -_-

Don't steal my series plez. I wanna finish all, like, 150 perks or more that exist

nope, it gets cleansed before even getting a single token for me. that's the problem with any hex perk except NOED when it does spawn when all gens are completed, i think that the totem for devour hope should only spawn when the killer gains two tokens because that's really when it comes in effect

  • Sonzaishinai

I use it from time to time.

It rarelly works but if it does it's amazing to see the panic settle in on survivors

On a sidenote, it's pretty rude stealing another person thunder like that : P

    No.

That lie should be very easy to see through.

Yes, I like it very much on Nurse.

Unfortunately, it easily falls off in this meta where every survivor is expecting NOED, meaning that hexes really get to live little to nothing.

On demo it's devastating, as long as your one and only focus is keeping the totem up and hooks, in that order. Demo can defend single objectives extremely well, and while you will lose a few gens, the payout is one hit downs and instakills.

I didn’t steal your series! I just used Devour Hope for the first time and loved it, so I decided to discuss it on the forum! Stealing your series would be me posting 10 different threads of the same format at once.

I’ll make sure not to, only if you bake me some brownies. And not the store bought mix, I want them from scratch with lots of walnuts!

I use it on Pig as I do find that it breaks less when I use her.

It has seen a rise in popularity lately. It was very risky to run it with another hex perk, like ruin. They touch a gen, they see ruin and they go looking for it. Often they would find a hex totem and it turned out to be DH instead. Now that no one is using ruin, DH isn't being looked for at the start of the game. Provided it's not in a bad spot I'm seeing majority of survivors don't do totems. Unless it's lit and they happen to come across it they don't get off the gens. Probably why so many people ######### about NOED. It is one of the few moments as a killer where you feel feared. If it's in a nice V shaped spot it is a blessing from the entity if your trapper. They can't get to it without disarming the trap. If you get 5 stacks that mori is deserved.

    Dunno how to bake....

How about this meme? Will it do?

  • AvisDeene
    AvisDeene Member Posts: 2,396

Yea, I think trapper is one of the best killers to use it with. If you use the add-on that causes Survivors to get injured when they disarm traps, they really get screwed. But like you said, you need it in a well hidden corner.

It’s so satisfying when you’re chasing someone and one of their teammates come to take aggro and they get downed instantly!

Whats better is when someone tries to body block you just as it activates. I downed someone and someone saved another survivor, giving me my 3rd stack. So they didn't get the notification yet. I circled around him for a bit then I picked him up. 2 guys tried to body block me from carrying him to the basement. The first one got downed and the 2nd one ran into a corner so I turned 1 into 3 lol

    AvisDeene Member Posts: 2,396

No! You have to work for it! Posting someone else’s work doesn’t cut it! (Unless you are the artist).

If baking is out of the option, I want you to draw me a picture of Daddy Meyers vaulting over a window wearing his hospital gown. Feel free to accentuate his muscles.

Drawing a shirtless Dwight wearing Dasiy Dukes is also acceptable.

And I'll use Devour Hope sometimes, but I prefer something that isn't so hit or miss.

As with all Hex Perks, it depends on how well you can protect it. And that's the problem here. Whether you win is almost up to RNG at that point. The totem only needs 3 hooks for you to be able to one hit down someone. That is quite powerful. But alas, once they know about it, it's getting cleansed unless you're lucky enough to be able to 3 gen near your totem. Then it's an instant win for the killer.

That's what sucks about much of the game, it's completely random.

It's cool to use it with Thrill of the Hunt as you receive a notification when someone it's working on a hex totem and... the speed is slowed down with each dull and hex totem on the map, making it a better to protect the totem or at least if you're far away, to know when the totem will go off.

Waaait waaait this is way too hard. I'm already in the process of drawing me holding Dwight like this

Don't make me do overtimes. It's way too hard to draw the Myers thiccness

  • AvisDeene
    AvisDeene Member Posts: 2,396

Are those really your artwork? If so, they’re fantastic! (I really enjoyed the trapper one)

But no, now I want you to draw Daddy Michael shirtless while holding Dwight like a man holds his wife over the threshold of their home.

The setting needs to be at the beach, with a wave splashing behind them, during sunset.

No rush tho, I’ll give you two months. During that time, I promise not to post threads in this format.

    CLAUDETTEINABUSH Member Posts: 2,210

This is so damn hard. No that's not my artwork. I do draw tho and I'm trying my hardest to draw me and Dwight holding each other.

Tho I play music. How about me to play the Myers theme? Otherwise I'll bake cupcakes (the only thing I bake perfectly)

I prefer consistancy over high risk perks like Devour hope, but i still occassionally use it. Depends on the survivors in the lobby.

  • AvisDeene
    AvisDeene Member Posts: 2,396

I will only accept either carrot cup cakes with cream cheese frosting or vanilla cupcakes filled with a small amount of dulce de leche and topped with buttercream frosting.

Since you don’t want to draw, you have the option to go to your local animal shelter and pet all the animals there! Or at the very least, if your neighbor (or you) have a cat or a dog, you have to give them a treat and give them tummy rubs.

Jokes on you, I already let every animal I see >:D

Here's the cupcake (I actually baked it)
