What is a win to you now? What do you aim for in a game?

Pips or Black Pips?

Emblems?

Bloodpoints?

3k+?

3 survived +?

You have to survive, nobody else matters?

Having fun in your own terms?

Challenges?

All of the above?

Meme-ing with the killer?

As killer: 3k+ and black pip at least

As survivor: 3 escaped (it doesn't matter if I was the one who died) and black pip at least

    Those are Ws for me

In terms of actual games, I consider 0-1 sacrifices a loss, 2 is a draw, and 3-4 is a win.

In terms of how much I care? I donā€™t. I play to enjoy myself these days, but thatā€™s what always goes through my head when I play as killer.

For me, it's bloodpoints. I like building up BP to build up and unlock stuff. When I play Killer I'm mostly farming for BP and usually have no issue letting Survivors escape and get their 5k Survival points.

It's also why the most frustrating thing to me is when, as Survivor, I'm taken out early because of tunneling, camping, or bad luck (if it's my own mistakes then at least that's on me) because it makes the whole thing a waste of time. I've had occasions when that sort of thing happens I'll just d/c because I know I'm not going to get anything, what little I've gotten isn't worth the frustration, and just leaving is actually kind of cathartic.

    Completing my objective.

For Killer: getting at at least a 3-4k is considered a win for me. Ranks don't matter so i don't care if i pip.

For Survivor: escaping, idc if the rest of the survivors die as long i escape its a win for me.

killer killing survivors before gates are open. Survivor - head on stuns. Cleansing 5 totems and preventing noed when gens are done and killer chasing me or just being on noed totem as fifth gen is getting done

  • Huntar
    Huntar Member Posts: 848

For survivor, I consider escaping to be a win. Doing the gens doesn't feel like anything impressive, and killers generally don't have enough pressure or information to make avoiding them actually feel difficult.

For killer, I don't have high standards. I just want to feel like I participated in the match, and had a chance to play the game. A few nice chases, a few downs, a few hooks, and feel like I wasn't outplayed every step of the way. It still feels like a loss when you bumble your way into a 4K just because the survivors suddenly turned their brains off an started rushing the hook in a line.

As a Legion main if I can get 4 bbq stacks, 2 kills and at least a brutal Iā€™m content. Anything more is a win in my eyes.

usually 3k or more as killer

Getting no kills but still being a challenge for the survivors isn't that bad. As long as there's mutual respect for both side's skills.

4 bbq stacks and 20k bp

No need to win as survivor

    AshleyWB Member Posts: 4,061

20k or similar for killer getting at least 4 hooks

As Survivor, doing at least 1 gen, winning a couple of chases, a stun or two and being helpful to teammates when it comes to unhooking and healing. Smart Survivor decision equals winning.

As someone who plays a lot killer due to survivor queues, I ignore the ranking system because it's heavily flawed and follow my own system. šŸ˜

    0K-1K: Lose

    2K: Draw

    3K-4K: Win

A win as a killer is when I don't de-pip, get lot's of BP's and have fun with good chases.

As survivor a win is if we all escape.

As survivor: I would like to think that escaping is winning. However when I'm the only one that escaped I feel like we still lost as a team.

I do have an exception to the rule, when I sacrifice my life for another teammate, a RUN, SAVE YOURSELF situation, and they survive the match. That feels like a win and I'm celebrating anyway. Just trying to get as many people out of the trail.

(I dont care about bloodpoints or pips when playing survivor. However I gotta rub the bones. The sound of totems breaking satisfy me greatly)

As killer: I have a few that I consider a win. Either I got a 2k+ or a pip or just got 20k+ bloodpoints.

Usually the bloodpoint one and the pip one go hand in hand.

(The kills vary quite a bit in my matches, because I couldnt care less about kills to be completely honest with you)

I'm always working for the maximum bp I can get. That's why I do every totem I find-also happens to help against NOED. I could care less about pipping. The grind to unlock perks on killers and survivors is insane. Just give me my points. Also, if I die, saving another survivor I call that a win. The only time I won't try to save is if we most likely both will die.

As a killer, 4 BBQ stacks, decent chases, learned something from the game, and of course good BP and I call it a win.

A win for me is having a good time in a match as killer or survivor.

With all the gen rushing, and general survivor toxicity for no reason other than I am playing killer well, or the killers slugging and face camping me, because I dared be to good at survivor and loop, since what else am I supposed to do?

Basically it's very hard to win...

Feeling like I challenged the other side.

As killer I can get 0 kills but if I feel like I pressured them a majority of the game I'm happy.

As survivor I can die happy if I had decent chases that helped my team progress.

Mindgames, suspense, clutch plays on both sides, that's fun to me.

As a survivor, I'd escaping through the gates feels like winning. Alternatively, getting someone else out feels like winning; for example, if the Killer is camping a hooked survivor right near an open gate, so I do an unsafe unhook and get downed, allowing the other person to escape, I'd say that feels like a win as well.

As a killer, mostly number of hooks. If I get a 4K with 4 hooks, I wouldn't feel as good about it compared to a 0K with 8 hooks. I'd say a 12-hook game is the goal to aim for every time.

    3k as killer

    If I survive as survivor.

I think they should somehow arrange BP for survivors so that portions of your points are determined by other survivors making it out too. This might actually make people not hatch-camp and be smarter about unhooking.

Have fun is always number one for me. There are always people that single-mindedly focus on winning and losing but I just want satisfying gameplay and I'll grow from there. Unfortunately, many viable tactics can be considered "unfun" for others so I personally use them with discretion out of consideration for the people who still love this game, despite everything.

BP/challenges are also important to me because that's how I unlock more perks/add-ons/content. These all add more depth and variety to the game.

In lieu of a ranking system based on stats correlated to a player's skill, pips/emblems/rank do not matter to me. When reds aren't matched with yellows this could change as I do enjoy the challenge of skilled players.

I can definitely understand three kills/escapes being considered winning because that's the majority number but if the match itself was unsatisfying and on top of that I didn't get much BP or challenge progress, I lost.

Don't set your expectations too low or you'll never improve, but set realistic expectations given things like survivor skill, your killer, the map you're on, etc. Always ask yourself questions for how you could have done better or why you may have done badly, and try and have fun :)

2+kills as killer. (Don't care how)

2+ escapes as survivor. (Doesn't need to be me. Long as I get some good running time in.)

Getting bp is good but its really about having fun. Which I've been having more since I began taking this game less serious. That said killer is still extremely frustrating so laughing mid match at my silly mistakes to allow for a 4 man escape helps.

Bloodpoints. If the randoms escape and I die, and I got more points I won. Top of the leaderboard for a reason. Double win if I get more points than the killer.
