I'm new to the forms as a poster, but I've been reading a lot lately and see a lot of the same people with very similar complaints. I played around 60-80 hours about a year or so after launch on PS4 (enough to prestige one survivor get two more to 40 and two killers around the same).

I then took a long break, for no particular reason. I'd say it's been around a year. I just started playing again mainly because of the forms. I was saying to myself that the changes can't be as drastic,or as bad, as some people are saying.

Basically,I kinda want to say I was wrong to judge. People saying it's survivor sided definitely have some merit to their argument. Out of 20 matches I'd say about 12 everyone escaped. 3 I was killed and didn't watch the rest of the match. I've yet to see anyone get a 4k.

I know maybe it's not enough of a sample size to judge properly, and I haven't played killer, but I am seeing what some others are. The matches feel faster. There's a few where I never even saw the killer. I'm not a good player by any means. Average at best. I was shocked they added that timer for when the escape door is open.

Anyways,I just just wanted to get into the conversation and thank the community for getting me back in the game. I still enjoy it. I'm not expert enough to know all of what's changed for better or worse,so I'm open to hear any thoughts! I feel like the matchmaking has sped up after last patch on PS4 at least.

It's easy for players to be boosted by perks to perform well.

Its the opposite for me. I 4k most games as killer but solo survivor escape rate is about 10%. I put that down to red ranks being watered down so much.

You're one of the people I always see posting :) I see a lot of the killers taking no perks for some reason. Even some survivors. And a lot of the survivors don't take tools ever. The game just feels a lot different to me.

Hmm I haven't seen this personally, but I also don't play much survivor. What ranks do you play at?

I've never been that high in rank but I feel like it's possible if this keeps up. I'm only like rank 15 at the moment. I've got into the green before and that's about it. I'm sure it's way different in red. I see a lot of DC's from killers. I don't know if they don't like certain maps or what.

Very low as I just started. Survivor and Killer are around 15. I'm sure things will change as it goes up,but I'm definitely seeing some of the changes already. I'm really looking to get better. I figured getting into the community would help me understand things more.

Killer rank doesnt matter because whether you’re rank 1 or 15 you’re going to be going against red ranks no matter what lol

Previously the best survivors would boost to red ranks and the lesser survivors would trickle in at the end of the month. Now they dont get reset back s far so everyone is in red ranks. The games used to be ok at red ranks but now they’re almost impossible to escape from. Especially against certain killers.

Well I'm personally glad you're here, each voice counts and I'm interested in the experiences of all dbd players.

At low ranks many players don't have their characters leveled up yet.

Honestly, you may be rusty, no offense. For me honestly I'm happy with my matches cuz I really think I got better at the game, but I know that the ruin change may freaked some less experienced players, for you also since the game is more faster: Faster hooks, grabs, pallet breaking and vaulting speeds (dunno if you were before these changes, but I think tho) and survs are way less immersive

Was it always like that for red rank killers or was that a change? Ive had forum posts coming up in my Google news thing and have seen a few things. I was honestly pretty shocked when I started playing again. The timer for getting out of the exit kinded added to the lopsided feeling. Felt like it was something extra to help Killers, but I could be mistaken.

I was honestly most shocked that the game didn't devolve into nonsense. It didn't end up with a dead player base like many other games of the sort,or end up where every match is a toxic troll session like Friday the 13th.

I haven't tried many matches with killer yet,but I feel the difference. My only complaint with survivor is that it goes quick and it seems too easy. I've literally escaped close to 90% of the matches I've played so far. I'll be fair and say that maybe it's because I'm lower rank.

I've only been killed 3 times out of 30 ish matches so far. The last match I unhooked two people within 30 seconds and we all escaped. That's something I never saw on the older version of the game. I'll have to give my thoughts on the killer at some point, but I appreciate you pointing out some of the changes.

Thank you for that. You guys are what got me wanting to play again. I've seen some toxicity, but it's nowhere near what I've seen on other games or forums. I've already learned some things. Terminology etc. I was actually able to loop the killer in a match tonight long enough for the team to get 3 gens on. I never could've done that before.

I agree that on lower ranks the characters probably aren't levelled...but to literally not even take one perk? I thought maybe it was to do an achievement or something because it's happened often. Maybe it's just super new players and that's where all my luck is coming from lol.

Most of my survivor matches went in a 4K mainly cuz of solo queue, but when I get an good team its very easy, but there's also that the killer is very potato in most games

Matchmaking has always been spotty but it used to be more random.

Theory is that all survivors good and bad are now stuck at red ranks. Seems like that has a good possibility of being true.

So if you go against a red rank they could either be a 7000 hour legend or someone who would have previously coasted around rank 8.

I think you have a good opinion. Ranks doesn't really matter, they are more of a way that shows how much a player plays monthly compared to someone else. They just came out with a new hidden MMR system that is matching players against each other instead.

I actually just found out it's a glitch. It's supposed to not show the killers perks on the result screen until the match is over. I didn't know that, but sometimes it just doesn't show them at all on PS4 no matter how long you sit there. As far as the survivors also having no perks displayed,I'm just going to assume it's a glitch as well. I didn't know about this at the time.
