Dark Adherent challenge buggy or wrong wording?

It says "hook 5 survivors in a single trial"

The emblem said I hooked 9 or more survivors in that trial. Challenge not finished. What's up?

  You have to hook 5 different survivors. Plot twist - you have to hook yourself, too.
