Can we please remove Keys from chests?
It's one thing to bring a key into the game, but you shouldn't be able to find one in a chest. Killers don't find moris to shorten the game.
This needs to go!!!

People were asking devs to add a short opening animation for keys which would prevent SWF teams leaving all at once but nooo!

either a 10 seconds animation when opening the hatch or only 1 survivor escape through key, otherwise keys are always gonna be the strongest item in-game.

That's all keys need for them to be balanced. It's stupid as hell when you're chasing an injured survivor only for them or their SWF teammate to open the hatch with a key DURING THE CHASE. As a killer you can't do nothing unless you have Franklin's.
Why is it opening the hatch is the only action that has no animation? Everything else like moris, hooking, cleansing, healing, etc. has an animation involved.
And yet for whatever reason opening hatches is done with the click of a button.

Animation would defintly be the way to go. I had a SWF team earlier that tried to all escape via hatch after one of their teammates died. Luckily only 1 escaped since I managed to close it, but the simple fact they found a key in the match to try escape so easily seems too much. I'm not saying keys are OP but they literally have 0 wind-up, where a Mori for killers does, along with animation. The killer loses that time where survivors lose nothing.

Guys, this isn't about the problem of using the key. It's about finding them in a chest. This is far more annoying then someone bringing one.

I think getting rid of keys in chests would work against the killer in the long term, keys are very rare without Plunderers and 3 or more survivors escaping like that after finding one is even rarer, I think it happened to me twice and one of those they were going to escape through the gates anyway.
In the other hand, making chests worse would discourage survivors from opening them and go fix gens instead.
I know not everyone who searches chests do it for keys but you dont keep people away from generators by getting rid of incentives to do other stuff.

On the contrary - maybe keys should only be available from chests, and not the blood web? Would make them significantly more rare.

I like this idea, it makes Ace in the Hole much stronger. It's also a nice temporary fix to how powerful keys are.

Keys shouldn’t be available in chests unless the Killer can do something similar with a Mori. Key rarity should also be increased until they get nerfed.

So we’re just going to ignore the hook condition that Moris have? Being good at looping can completely deny a Mori. I’m not denying that they need nerfs, but they aren’t the instawin feature that people think they are.

I’m talking about an actual good team. They can loop for a Killer for long enough to get the Hatch to spawn or all five gens done. The Killer can Mori 1 or 2 Survivors only to have the others jump down the Hatch because of Hatch spawn rules.

First killers can Mori after one hook second survivors have to do gens +1 to the number of survivors left then find hatch third yes we can find it in a chest or bring it in but there is a perk called Franklin's demise right 🤔 but killer mains will keep crying until no one will play survivor because you have no chance IMO,😒

Neither are Mori's, to be fair.
It might not take immense skill to catch you as a survivor, but there actually good survivors out there, and unbalanced maps, with an endless amount of pallets and loops. Stop being so one sided.
Besides, most killers have hoards and hoards of mori's because they don't use them.

Ah yes, I can totally predict when the game will give the Survivor a key and I’ll waste a single perk slot just for that one specific situation.
Also it’s the other way around. There’s actually not that many people playing Killer. Survivor queue times are increasing.

Why? It's not like a survivor can start the match, find a key and open the hatch. Maybe the devs can nerf the game overall. No gens, just a killer running after someone for 5 minutes and than everyone gets a cookie. Yes please devs do this. Next tool boxes, med kits, flashlights will be removed. If everything gets nerfed we will have to go outside like the unwashed.

This has happened to me like 4 times within the past week and a half or so. 2 times as Plague, once as Doc, once as Legion. 3 Gen setup, 2 survivors left, they hide then the game just ends because it turns out they went chest searching and found a key then stealthed around till they found hatch.

We still talking about this key issue, yet the easiest solution is to use your offering to negate chests. Really, they aren't that hard to find.

I don't deny the existence of unbalanced maps, but they don't change the power of moris. I think keys also need adjustment.

Yeah, I know not being able to predict when a killer is going to tunnel you down to know to bring DS for it! You should always bring DS! Oh wait, you said keys and franklins... umm... awkward!

The power of them is one thing. Whether they get used or not is another, and that's the point. The assertion that they are this super common, be all end all harbinger of doom is false. Killers don't really use them, so they aren't a big epidemic. Keys on the other hand are present in a pretty high percentage (at least for me) of games since the EGC was implemented.
If you want to talk about the "power of mori's", don't forget to list their weaknesses. You can mori all 4 survivors, and you get about as much as they do for it. A big fat nothing.

I've noticed it does not happen as often as it used to. That said, if you run plunderer, you have a higher chance.
I don't think they should be removed because it is a tiny variable and a slight window of hope in some situations. I got one once when facing Billy. Doors were right next to each other. 3bother survivors played immersed. He face camped 2 to death. I worked 4 gens on my own and was the last survivor. I had plunder, hit the basement chest and heard the chorus sing as I grabbed the purple key.
Again, they should not be common, but should not be removed either.

Honestly removing keys from chests would make them irrelevant. The number one reason to be tunneled and camped is to bring in a key , the second way to ensure you are tunneled is to bring a flashlight. I'm not guessing either it's a fact. I mean maybe they should have the option to play against stupid boys so then you have no reason to whine.
I always play swf and my escape ratio is 1 out of 3. I mean I don't expect to escape every time because without a challenge you lose the fun. So maybe killers shouldn't cry cause they only killed half the survivors. I mean you have to work to get 20000 points as a survivor but you can be AFK for 5 mins as a killer and always make that much. The other thing is its almost never that you depip as a killer, but there's games where even though I escaped I depipped as a survivor, so suck it up butter cups.

I mean recently it feels like chests have been given a major boost, like at this point it's become unsurprising to find an engineers toolbox without Ace in the Hole. Chests have been giving way better items lately which is quite strange. Although in the games I do find a key, we typically end up losin' anyhow.

So today I was playing, i hooked a survivor in the corner of the map on the swamp. My BBQ and chili show two survivors running toward me maybe 30-40 feet away. The fourth was blank. By the time I lost the ability to see them, they were both hiding on either side of the jungle gym right next to the hook. I finally see the fourth guy behind a tree. I went and hit the fourth guy, snuck up on him cause I guess he didnt see me and then turned and went back to the hook to take care of the other three. One guy near the hook runs to the jungle gym and loops me until i down him. The guy on the hook, second hook for him, dies.
After the game I was called a camper and a load of bad names. I responded, yes I did, but it is my job to kill you guys and when everyone is at hook why would I leave and go any where else. I am always friendly with people even if they are being salty. I try to make it fun for everyone, but especially me.

I know I can’t mention the name but there is a survivor main that keeps responding to all of the constructive criticism and saying everything is stupid because they want the key to stay so they can get escapes every time, grow up.

Thats understandable but get hooked and the killer just sit dead in your face and no one is near the hook or even coming for the save is sad make the game boring

I'm sorry but that's a bit ridiculous like I get that it's unfair at times but theres a condition for the hatch and keys the fact you guys attempt to take away a defence when teams DC and you're the only one left is pretty unfair

I don't care if you keep keys in the game. There is no reason why the Entity would willingly put a key into a chest for survivors to open the hatch that some guy built in the entity's realm against the entity's knowledge.
It doesn't make sense for the lore, also it's broken af for the killer when it happens.

Do you have any proof? Ppl are saying that everyone stopped playing killer, but I’m kinda getting confused on how big that number is. I’m on ps4 and I’m able to find lobby’s pretty quick. I’m assuming it’s just pc killers that are leaving?? I just wanna know how many people stopped playing killer cause to me nothing as changed. I’m just confused tbh

Lol remember monto's plundered video where he pulled about 4-6 keys in one map just by using plundered's?
But honestly, yeah plundered's shouldn't grant you an increased chance to get a key.

The proof is the queue times, currently when playing as a survivor at rank 1, I get about 20 minute to 40 minute queue times, whereas the killer queue times are instant.

I wouldn't mind it if Plunders was the only way to get Keys from chest. At least your sacrificing a slot for a RNG chance.

Unless you have pluderers, the chance of getting a WORKING key is low. First the item has to be purple or pink, which is basically inpossible without plunderers as is, THEN you have to get the 1/x chance between the other items of that rarity.
Long story short, it is all RNG my dude. Are we gonna remove toolboxes from chests to stop gen rushing?
