BHVR
Slowly but surely information is being taken away from the DBD community.
SWFs weren't shown for fear of killers dodging lobbies which survivors were happy about. The real issue was BHVR introducing something good but ignoring it needed to be balanced at the expense of killers fun. However with half the the community wanting this they were allowed to do so.
Ranks are next to be hidden the reason, well we haven't been given one except it being called "matchmaking" but we know it is to hide how broken the game is. The reason why killers have insta lobbies and survivors don't, it isn't fun being the killer caused by hiding SWFs, hiding information and not balancing something obviously unfair for the killer.
It is obvious what BHVR need to do, either keep digging the hole or fix the white elephant in the room

To my knowledge they are not hiding ranks they are just scraping the current system for an mmr system.

But you won't be able to see your mmr. If you can't see how much and whether or not you're improving, then what's the point of playing ? I've always looked at DBD as a competetive game, and in that sense hiding MMR (the game's new ranking system) is basically the same as not having ranks at all... Not having ranks in a competetive game.

The problem is that new MMR is going to be hidden

I get that but it has been stated that this game isn't meant to be competitive I don't agree with that stance if it has a ranking system it is competitive at some level.
Not showing how you're improving isn't the best either but ever since I started playing rank hasn't really meant much in terms of skill just how much time you've spent playing especially recently. I do understand why people like seeing their ranks.

"I get that but it has been stated that this game isn't meant to be competitive"
That hasn't been said by the devs actually.
This is something many people in the community debate on because it isn't clear their intentions.

To your knowledge? What I'm saying is about hiding information.
You mean you haven't read their idea of hiding ranks?
They are again fixing matchmaking with another system again... since SWF was introduced.
MMR batch matchmaking will not improve wait times, only create longer wait times for killers. Survivors will still have to wait for a player willing to play killer

I mean why care about ranks at this point? I get that people like seeing themselves progress but I've seen posts on both sides saying it's too easy to rank up it has also been the opinion of plenty of players that rank doesn't really mean anything. You are right that wait times will probably not fix wait times.

Really? I'm sure I've seen the devs say something long those lines on streams. I won't argue with you on it since I don't really have any proof.

I think it is mandatory to see your mmr/rank so you actually have an idea whether you improve or not. In addition to that leaderboards should be made available, having a leaderboard for each region (NA/SA;EU W;SEA ...) would be great maybe special icons for the top 500 or something.

Then what's the point of adding a competetive ranking system in a non competetive game

This is true, but the matchmaking system isn't bugged right now. There just aren't enough killers. Survivor is too easy to play and has to many abuseible perks, so even average players are strong. It basically takes a perfect killer to win against average survivors.
Changing it to mmr isn't going to make a difference, the skill levels will be the same and you will have the same amount of killers. Its a placebo effect. Hiding ranks is about not knowing how imbalanced the game actually is.

BHVR have stated they intend only you to see your rating if (when) it goes ahead & for now. You could be s red rank survivor playing a noob killer and you wouldn't know
Thank you @Dwinchester , my point was that wait times for survivors have been increased due to swf being introduced and without BHVR balancing wait times increase and the game dies.
Ranking numbers and visibility are attempts to mask information and why the game is dying with more information hidden. BHVR aren't addressing the cause of the disease only offering a paracetamol for the symptoms. It isn't survivors fault thru want more fun and wins with friends, it's BHVRs not planning long term.
