Buyable characters with shards - perks. Price adjustments.
So as you may know you can not complete the tome without having certain DLC characters (Spirit, Doc, Jane) as you need to play with these characters.
Some of us already have some perks unlocked from the Shrine for some of these characters. For example I have 2 perks from the Shrine that are Jane's.
With that in mind, I would suggest that if you already have a perk, two or three....the character should cost less shards.
For example: Jane is 9000 shards to buy. I have 2 perks from the Shrine, so I spend 4000 shards on her perks as I don't need the character itself because I won't use it. So now if I have 2 perks bought with shards, the character price should be down from 9000 to 5000 shards.
1 character perk owned - 9000 original character price - 7000 character new price
2 character perk owned - 9000 original character price - 5000 character new price
3 character perk owned - 9000 original character price - 3000 character new price

I agree there should be a discount, but not at a 100% rate. Maybe like 1,500 shards discount per perk you own on that character.

If you want to get the character alone and you already have the 3 perks, you would still have to pay another 3000.

Then why not get the character in the first place instead of just the perks?

Because some people don't want all the perks and just get what they can from the Shrine. And some people don't want the character as they don't play with it.

I just don't see a need for this. Iridescent shards are already a free way to obtain otherwise premium DLC. All it takes is simple planning to decide if you want the character or just one of their perks.
I personally don't care for Jane's perks outside of head-on, and while I don't dislike Jane as a character, I'm always gonna play Feng Min anyway (feng geng), so if I see head-on in the shrine, I'll buy head-on.
On the other hand, I like all of Adam's perks (obv not because they're good), so I'd just save up and buy Adam.
Yeah, in an ideal system, a character would be cheaper if you already had some of their perks, but realistically, BHVR has no incentive to do it, and it doesn't hurt to plan how you're spending your valuable free currency anyway.

Then what's the point of this topic? If they don't want the characters, then they wouldn't get them anyway

In some ways, I agree with this.
However, I doubt it'll ever happen. The characters are already very cheap in terms of how many shards they cost. After all, buying the character is cheaper than buying some of the character's outfits, making the character look like a real bargain in comparison. And while survivors are just glorified skins, killers come with special abilities, adding to their value.
The easiest response from the devs would be, "You're buying the character; the perks are bonuses thrown in for free."

Yeah it's ridiculous how some outfits cost nearly $20 worth of shards, but once you have everyone and everything unlocked there's not much else to do with the shards anyway

It just seems the right thing to do for everyone to complete the tome without buying any characters. Like I said, I understand the using the perks and spending shards on perks but on characters that you don't use?
For example Head On is now on the Shrine to allow players to complete the Head On challenge which is great. But to complete the "play with X character" you need to pay 9k shards for a character that you may already have all the perks from the Shrine.

At least those challenges are at the very end of the branch. So it only locks out one or two challenges here and there, that you can complete later on if you ever decide to get those characters. You can still get to the epilogue and get get fragments by just playing the game, to get to rift tier 70.

I know you can finish the rift and reach tier 70 without even doing any challenges but this isn't about the rift. Its about the tome.
The problem is that the challenge includes a memory and as mentioned above 9k shards for a character that you don't want or need when you already have all the perks bought from the shrine?
You already spend 6k on the perks, does it make sense to spend 9k for memory challenge to complete the tome? Or in general.
