The first DC penalty timing.
The first penalty is 5min if you are asking. I tested it at my first game so, do you think it is good for a first penalty.

Honestly, I think 1 min should be first. 5 isnt terrible, but the next jump is what, 10/15?
The first DC should always be assumed to be an accident. Lag, net, bugs, etc. After that it's a you problem.
I still think 5 isnt terrible, but it should start at 1, 5, 15, 30, hour, 3 hour, day, 3 day, week, kind of system.
Multiple issues or crashes would suck, but not be unable to play all week. You should also know that if you're having issues, and may DC, that it is possible you will have a higher timer, aka fix your ######### before you play again, or take a break, knowing that you are putting yourself in the position to be DC banned.

Does the penalty activate when you get an infinite loading screen and need to alt + f4? Because that happens to me every 3 or so games it's actually so ridiculous.

Probably, that punishes you with de-pip so it probably counts as a full DC.

Also are you serious? When it was like 15 or 30 seconds and THEN 5 minutes the next time it wasn't so bad. 5 minutes though right off the bat might be enough to make me just turn the game off if it gives me a time ban for the game freezing or whatever.
Queue times as survivor are already forever long... having to wait to be able to re-queue to wait might be a bit of a deal breaker for me honestly...well...we'll see if they fixed the issues with it or not for real.

I think 5 minutes is more than fair for the first time. Hopefully it increases exponentially.

5 minutes is fine.
If you crash or lose your internet connection, by the time things come back, your penalty will be over.
If the game crashes, then by the time you load it again, there'll only be 2 minutes left to wait for it to be over.
It's to punish those who did it on purpose more severely. And 60 seconds for a first offense and 5 minutes for a second was pretty much just shaking your finger at them and a soft slap on the wrist "No, no, no! Bad bad, don't do that! Tssk tssk!" and they'd keep doing it anyway.

I find it quite humorous. I mean, if your game is crashing that often then you really shouldn't be playing and screwing over your team all the time. Perhaps i'm just lucky but a crash very rarely ever happens to me or the people I play with. i honestly don't remember having much of an issue since legion was released and the game crashed every time you got ormond.

My game fully crashes maybe once every month or two? So by the time it loads back up I can just go grab a snack or something, no biggie.
Those who say their game crashes on a daily basis, or more than once a night, should invest in a better computer or play something their computer can run properly. Yes, the game has flaws and the programming isn't optimal, but seriously, you need to play the game with a proper computer, too, not a shoe box.
One of the guys I play with sometimes used to have a ######### internet connection, it would die every day or two for a minute. He ended up calling them and getting a new modem and it fixed the problem. But yeah other than that, the rest of the people I play with barely ever crash. There's the occasional "someone's game didn't load" but even those aren't very frequent.

I'm sure if we have another incident such as ormond release the devs will disable the penalty until it's resolved.

No i don't think it would be malicious. That is you putting words in my mouth. I am inferring incompetence and lack of a QA team. If we have an issue and they are on hiatus for holiday or something we are #########.

Well, the hiatus for holiday is valid. I can't argue that lol. But I do think they try to not drop major updates right before the weekend or holidays? I could be wrong about that. Maybe you are correct. But the DCing because you're getting wrecked far outweighs the DCing for bugs etc. in my opinion and needed to be addressed.
