Before we blatantly punish players for dcing let’s address why they are dcing

penalties on points of experience bruh! not in gameplay

only time ban in ranked ones

The entire game is “ranked.” Other games that have a DC penalty:, Rocket League, Overwatch, Siege, have casual and ranked matches.

Nobody plays casual to sweat and have the option to leave.

Ranked is different decision. You know what to expect.

Lets ban people from leaving for being forced into a ranked match. Let’s not even discuss KYF, it’s not like it’s a casual it’s mostly used as a trainer or a mess around when I use it.

It all really doesn't matter. You log on to play a game. You either play it, or take the penalty. It's extremely simple.

And I can honestly say that nobody cares. You do you. If that is fun to you to log into a game and do that rather than use your time doing something else then go right ahead. At least I'll get my bbq stack from you and someone will more than likely get a hook save from you. Better than a DC.

I have dc'd in the past due to hitboxes. Being on the other side of the window and taking a few steps then getting downed is bullshit. Getting slugged time and time again is BS. Not fun.

As killer i have only ragequit a few times in over 1000 hours. They were purely rage quits as it was obvious i was playing a full swf commando squad with coms and a OoO

I have been on the receiving end of DC's as killer more than enough. It sucks. But as kiler you just move on and get the next tone.

I vow to slug everyone and let them all bleed out until they change this DC mechanic just to expose how annoying this is.

Cool. Many play to have fun, earn blood points etc. Plus there are counters to that. But if you enjoy it go right ahead.

I play on Playstation and once I DC'd because the wife was going to mori me if I didn't help her bring stuff in from the car.

Other than that, I take my medicine regardless of how badly I am doing.

People get upset they didn't get what they wanted. They're not DC'ing constantly over bugs. Who gets to define what a 'bad teammate' is. You're a bad teammate if you DC. These games last maybe 6-10 minutes most. If you cannot handle 3 other people doing exactly what you want during that time, perhaps this isn't the game to be playing.

DC'ing will eventually destroy this game.

There's tons of different reasons people leave games. Most of them are related to ego, frustration, and/or trying to spite the opponent. I'm heavily in favor of some compounding time-out penalty system for leaving a game and don't think there is any justifiable reason for leaving the game without taking a penalty for it.

There's a couple issues with that though, one being that bugs tend to come up pretty frequently in the game. Nobody wants to stay in a game where you get put on basement hook and fall through the map, or get flashlighted and can't see anything for the rest of the game. There's bugs where multiple survivors can get stuck in where the killer can't reach them - which can literally lead to a game that will never end until somebody disconnects. Running into a bug that prevents you from playing/finishing the rest of the match in a reasonable way is a solid reason to disconnect.

Also, plenty of people have bad internet that just goes out frequently. In my opinion, those people shouldn't be playing DBD in the first place since it ruins matches for everybody else, and should be playing games that let players join in mid-match - but BHVR might not want to be auto-banning everybody with a connection that cuts out a few times each day if a size-able chunk of the playerbase has connections like that.

The big problem is that it's nearly impossible to differentiate between when someone rage quits vs. encountering a game-breaking bug and quiting vs. their game randomly crashing vs. unplugging their ethernet to quit vs. just having a poor connection that cuts out sometimes. If the game was bug-free and perfectly balanced, people would still rage quit. There's no way around it. But, you don't want to punish people who are forced to quit after encountering bugs.

In my opinion, with the game's current stability in terms of bugs, that the disconnect penalty is the best way to go. I realize that if I had a poor internet connection all the time, i would probably be fighting against adding penalties and bans, but DC punishments are honestly for the best in a game like this where DCs tend to ruin the match for everybody else.

we do tons of thing meanwhile... videos, chatting, even page games lol. is the same for us if we are ingame (same thing that waiting in lobby)
