Do people think the returning D/C penalty has the potential to make players toxic?

I always like to look at the flip side of the situation and hear what the people have to say. I'm on PS4 currently, mid ranks. Im a survivor main (but run killer quite a bit) and I'd say 90% of survivor matches all day were dirty play, tunneling,or face camping.

Now I know this can happen a lot,and maybe I was just unlucky in my queue's. I'm just kinda thinking...it can take a bit to get a match depending on platform...some people aren't going to want to wait for a D/c penalty on top...

So bottom line,do you think it has the potential to make killers just want to camp or do whatever, knowing some people might not want disconnect penalties stacking up? I mean, even if you think it has potential to be abused by survivors in some way,or in another form,I'd like to hear.

Hell, what are your thoughts on the penalty in general? I don't like seeing disconnects on either side, but I'm on the fence here. If the matches keep going like this I'm going to start really wondering if there's some correlation.

I've been seeing videos on YT popping up and people now just suicide the 1st hook to 'DC' now, so these penalties did nothing really, beyond a slight slap on the wrist for people who do actually DC

I’d bet money there will be people acting in ways trying to get other people to disconnect. Its a very toxic community.

Yeah I'm not going to disagree.Nothing to stop anyone from DC'ing if they are just about to finish their session or play something else either. Probably not long enough for people to care. I don't DC personally, penalty or not,but I'm sure people will just watch a video or something and pop right back on. Or suicide.

Don't disagree with that either. Just saw so many toxic matches today it made me wonder. Everyone tunneling and camping except one Gorgon and a Spirit. Could just be bad luck :/

Happened constantly yesterday and last night. Killers are intentionally trying to make survivors dc because they can. What about penalties for that?? Seriously, this was not well planned and is not going to work unless both sides have a consequence. Otherwise, the toxic environment that already exists will only get worse as more and more people get tired of it.

Yup,that's a lot of what I was seeing. Slugging with no attempt at hooking. Face camping. Time wasting. Different variations of BS. I switched to killer. Some people were still DC'ing anyways.

People that don't want the penalty were most likely legit fair players anyways, and the rest don't care if they get a penalty,or just act however hoping you'll be the one to take it.

I feel like it's a necessary thing to have but idk. I'd say make it more extreme, but then that screws people that have legit crashes or some kind of emergency. Doesn't stop people from suiciding or just standing there doing nothing, but touching a key every so often lol.

The bleed out timer is only 4 minutes. So it's actually impossible for the killer to go afk for 20 minutes while everyone is slugged.

You mean you cant regulate your emotions enough to not be bothered by a few mins of someone having a power trip?

"Intentionally trying to male people dc".

As if that wasnt already a thing. If someones being a dick, just ignore it, play the game and move tf on.

If you get slugged for the whole game (4mins) go watch yt or something while you wait. Dont act like this penalty (which is very needed, and basically every other decent pvp game has) is causing toxicity.

If anything these kinds of outbursts tell me that the people posting them are just upset that THEY cant DC without penalty now.

Slugging, facecamping and whatnot are not new. Theyve been happening for a long while, and even more so as of the ruin change.

I see it making people who think they are entitled angry. I play “normally”, so it hasn’t effected me personally.

I get a brief moment of satisfaction when I outplay someone at a loop and down them, only to watch them D/C out of rage. Good times.

Toxic players were already toxic, it won't make non-toxic players turn into toxic players.

My killer games have been pretty normal, yet every survivor game has been tunnel into mori.

I'm not saying it hasn't. Just saying there SEEMS to have been an increase since just yesterday. Not enough data for correlation, just saying I'm seeing more of it than "normal" already. I've seen some nutty stuff the past 40 or so matches. I'd say maybe 5 were DC free and fair play.

Had a green rank doctor down someone and just stand there and camp the body while everyone escaped when they realized what was going on. Thats after camping and tunneling them off the hook. Was just spamming shock on top of this person. Also kinda made me mad the survivor had an LGBT username,so yeah the doctor could've just been a complete loser. To the person's credit, they still didn't DC.

And it could just be the types of players that are on,yes. I can't disagree with anyone's opinion at all. But toxic players gonna be toxic, and have found a way to abuse everything under the sun,so I was just curious if people were seeing differences or if they thought things will get worse.

Probably feels like 20 mins though lol. Is it really only 4 minutes? Feels longer.

I've never DC'd even once intentionally. I was just looking to hear what people think. Of course be people are going to want you to DC and take a penalty.

Yes most other games have it,but it's usually more severe in my experience. FFXIV it's a half hour for leaving a match with a full party. Hell, you can get a half hour penalty for queue'ing up and not going through with it after the 3rd time it asks in one day.

There's tons of people I'm sure just don't care about a penalty at all. The thing is, a lot of other games have join in progress or something similar, so it's not even a big deal if someone leaves. Here you can be down a man or two and it's about over. If the killer insta DCs,I hope you didn't wait long for the match or care about pips. I can see both sides.

Played on PC last night and this morning. Had quite a few games where the other survivors got mad they were caught first and killer themselves 1st hook. One was mad they got saved before they could totally die and started being a trolly ****. Ran working is throwing down pallets and jumping in lockers and screwing up skill checks. Then crouched around the map doing absolutely nothing. Honestly at that point, I wish they had just dc'd. Then had a killer who camped and then slugged. One had unbreakable, but was slugged again. I went back to xbox and saw a difference there. So no I dont believe the dc penalty is going to be a game changer. As killer also, in a game one survivor got mad I caught them first, killed them selves first hook and the other 3 gave up too because their friend left the game early. I depipped anyway.
