People have the craziest stories for their DCs now that penalties are back
Remember when people just admitted they DC because "Nurse is OP," or "Ten Huntress in a row brought Iri hatchets," to cover up being mad about losing. Now with DC penalties back no one is quitting for that anymore but the stories are GRAND...
"I was going against a 4 man SWF they all somehow cheated and got themselves onto a roof and held the game hostage so I had to." or "my teammates had me blocked in and they along with the killer all conspired to keep me in the game without any progress forcing me to DC."
Now, those are a bit of an exaggeration but if you go through the forums you will see so many stories of the most unlikely events happening and people wanting to get rid of DC penalties,or at least have an exception for themselves.

i know right. and as you may have seen someone also claimed to be held hostage by a killer who slugged everyone and then afked 20 mins XD like that's not even possible

After two or three games like this, I'd just disconnect and take the punishment and move on, or switch to killer to vent out on survivors.

I didn't even load into two games 2 days ago due to the storm in Britan, but apart from that I've never intentionally dced so unless a crash happens I shouldn't be affected by these dc punishments

I crashed one time yesterday... it was terrible... the 1 minute ban during the 2 minutes it took to restart the computer... it really triggered me... i dont know what to do... this dc penality are horrible!!!

I was actually giving someone crap because they said "what if i have an emergency and need to poop?" After reading all these other threads and comments, that guy actually had the best reason which says a lot lol.

Looking at the graphics on last photo maybe its time to upgrade from toaster to something more modern so you wouldnt crash / dc or whatever all the time?

Blunt but not wrong, if you’re constantly running at minimum requirements performance suffers and may even lag out on you.
my answer would be, “by the time you go and come back you’ll be eligible to play again. Wash your hands to be sure.”

Some of their excuses are so extreme! Like people bringing up when they had a death in the family and had to DC... like dude, why do you even care about a penalty in that situation?
I've been enjoying the stories though. It's good material to laugh at while having my morning coffee.

As a purple ranked p3 claudette, my blending skills are extremely powerful and if a killer finds me, he's clearly hacking. Although previously I could just dc, BHVR now expects me to just "play the game" with obvious cheaters. They'll be hearing from my lawyers. I also want a refund on all of the many brown cosmetics I've purchased.

It's amazing the lies that get produced when people are suddenly held accountable for what they do.
This was before the recent dc penalty change. I was playing Nurse long ago on legions map. I blinked through the middle building and saw a claudette by sheer coincidence. So I chased and downed that person. In the end game chat their responses were amazing
"How did you know I was there?"
"I didn't. I was teleing through the building and you just happened to be where I landed lol"
"I'm Claudette. If you saw me then you must be wall hacking. REPORTED!"
"If the killer finds you it doesn't mean he is hacking. Sometimes its luck"
"REPORTED!!!"
Needless to say nothing happened to me. The devs probably looked at the file title, saw no video evidence and tossed it in the recycling bin.

I accidentally stepped on my cat's tail, causing him to run across my PS4 controller that was on the floor which caused my DC. Devs, please let me play again. Thx

I like to keep fit while playing dbd but I was briefly distracted by the sudden appearance of the aurora borealis in my kitchen and instead of my jump rope I grabbed my ethernet cable. Am I to be punished for my active lifestyle?

I strongly advise to never get a vrheadset and play GORN. The trailer says it all.
My nephew broke one of my monitors already. I installed mods and he was tossing fireballs. He's the reason they put those straps on the controllers so they don't fly out of your hands -.-

The “survivor stuck in healing” bug caused disconnect standoffs last time they tried the dc penalties.
Months on its still in the game. They take so long to fix bugs.
I can’t wait until the next update is out and theres a new gamebreaking bug and the people here championing the penalties are all complaining about how unfair it is being given a penalty when they had to dc

The bugs happen like 1/25 or 50 games maybe? Anything more than that and BHVR would adjust it like they did last time they tried penalties

The only thing i can accept as not punished is the pregame crash, sometime is someone DCing, sometime is really the game freezing, if devs menage to "whitelist" that particular instance of dc, i'd have no problem with that (since sometime i get that 2 or 3 time in the same session) u_u

Is that really all the penalty is? Like a minute or something? What was the point then? I've seen games that toss you a half hour penalty first time. What's the highest it can go? Does anyone know?

I still think people should able to voice legit concerns. I mean,but some excuses are stupid,if my house was on fire,I'm not gonna care I'm gonna get a soft ban. I think we do have to keep in mind that not everyone lives somewhere where there's quick stable internet. Might not be a case of "just get something better". Not everyone has money to upgrade their kit either.

It's something like 5 minutes the first two times, then 15 twice, then 30 twice, then 60

No, but honestly, if your computer or internet connection can't handle the game without crashing all the time, as they claim, maybe this game is not for you. There are much less demanding games out there. Offline ones, too.

Yeah that's pretty reasonable. I've seen worse. If it's a legit accident you should be able to get back in quick. Too bad it's not the kinda game to be able to let you reconnect and join the same match or have someone join in progress. Just really wouldn't work.

I'm not going to argue, because you're mostly right. I'm just kinda saying at least that's a reasonable excuse compared to some others. The fastest I can get is 25 down 4 up. It's really stable though. Some of my friends further out of town can't even pull 5 down and 500kbps up. Not stable. Same provider. That's unplayable...and they still try to play NASCAR and GTA Online lol.
Yeah you shouldn't punish others for having crap gear though. Everyone isn't in the position to spend money they don't have. So yeah,maybe play another game or take the penalties, complaining isn't going to do much unless it's abused or becomes a huge issue somehow. I just like hearing what people think.

Yeah it sucks penalizing them for not having the money or living in the wrong place, but at the same time.. them disconnecting/crashing all the time disrupts everyone else's game, not just theirs. That's where I have a problem.If it was an MMORPG or something, where people log on and off all the time, it wouldn't matter, but it's not.

I appreciate the understanding at least. I'm pretty poor,by Western standards. Disabled and all that. When I started playing online I went out of my way to get the best internet I could afford. Even made them make a new jack and give me basically a direct line because it's a huge old crappy apartment building ha.
I've only ever had it disconnect if there was damage outside. Maybe 6 times in 5 years. I do get a crash here and there,but it's usually on the load screen. Hopefully someday they'll have the good stuff everywhere,at a price people could afford. As for PC stuff,yeah it's not cheap. Mine is so screwed I just switched to PS4 for awhile lol.
Devs were caught between a rock and a hard place. People wanted the penalty (some think it's good enough,some think it's too harsh,some think it's not harsh enough) but they also had to consider legit disconnects,crashes etc.

Yeah PCs can get expensive.. mine's a few years old. Runs lots of games, but not the most recent and more demanding ones. No biggie, I'm not interested in those, yet..
And I guess at least with the PS4, you don't need to upgrade, just need a stable enough connection for online gaming, which you seem to have ;) Fast connection for games is only useful for downloads, once you have the game installed and running, as long as it doesn't cut too often you're good

I legit was thinking of making a smurf forum account, and posting in the "stories about toxic teammates thread" that I was a killer against a toxic SWF that I slugged and left on the ground for 20 minutes, forcing them all to dc. 🤣🤣🤣

It's funny how all the regular DCers are up in arms about being held accountable now and come up with every fantastical story of something that happened to them( which 99% it's made up) to try and prove why it should be removed

An iri head huntress threw a hatchet that went through my tv and injured me irl, also causing the game to crash. I desperately needed to play another game of dbd to calm down but the ambulance arrived first and so I needed to be sedated as well as have my face sewn back together.

Yeah I'm lucky to have a good mother really. Games are about all I have,but I would never complain. To me it always seems like the slow connections are the most unstable. Like if you are running 2 Mbps WiFi,you're probably going to lag so bad it's ridiculous,at the very least. That's before you factor in terrain,surrounding buildings,and the actual router. I know faster doesn't always mean better,but haven't seen too many fast unstable connections...except with Comcast lol.
My PC is old too. MB got damaged and the graphics card could probably use an update. Figure I'll get around to it when I'm able. I'm not the type to DC and ruin someone else fun. I don't like wasting other people's time either, because you don't know what they are going through.

I have seen Streamers from USA, Canada and Europe and I admit I see them have this problem maybe twice a week? I have had a DC maybe once every few days, I'm sure most people have the same. If that's what you're talking about then yes otherwise if you're saying you, your brother and your 13 friends are all having regular issues I'm gonna have to call BS. Thanks for trying though.

If you guys are going to make a meme out of "slugged and bled out for 20 minutes" can I get some credit because it was from my thread? :P j/k I actually sorta agreed until I thought about and then felt stupid. I had like 5 matches of 4 man slugs yesterday. Not in a row or anything! So was just like "yeah,I feel you" lol.
The thread was just asking if people thought the DC penalty had the potential to make players toxic. Trying to waste time and make people want to DC etc. There was definitely some differences of opinion.

You DONT understand just how much DCs are a necessary feature in this game that shouldnt get punished
Last week i was kidnapped by a bunch of somalian communist confucianist terrorists and they forced me to disconnect each time I got downed by the killer, also from time to time I had to play killer and they also forced me to disconnect each time one gen got done, if i didnt DC they told me i wouldnt be able to eat ice cream for dessert after dinner.
Like, come on, we have our reasons to disconnect
