we need a Dead by Daylight 2.0
with the title i dont mean that we need a Dead by Daylight 2 as a game but instead of remaking the game itself and build it from the ground up again ... that way you would be able to implement other functions much easier and would probably even fix almost all the bugs that exist right now. that would be a chance to see if you could rework the survivor and killer base kits as well so they could get even more improved with stunning visuals and more fixing the "stalking" for stealth killers or maybe even the throwing of the hatches or projectiles in general. i know that its alot of work but if you would do it dear BEHAVIOUR team then you have more stuff and possibilities avialable to implement then you probably have now. i mean i love the current dead by daylight but the bugs take me out of the atmosphere sometimes.
you could even add the lobby that i suggested ( https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117801/make-dbd-more-interesting-with-new-lobbys-here-is-how#latest ) much easier that way and it would feel fresh as well.
what do you think guys?

Yeah Devs just fix all the bugs! /S
It's not that easy. They can't just slap their keyboard and add all these tremendous changes you're suggesting. It's simply not happening.
6 -
not changes ... thats different from what i said. I said that they should do all of that from the beginning so they wont even have their coding that they hve now which makes everything complicated to them for fixing bugs etc. read my post again ^^

This time the survivors have guns!
8 -
That would literally take years it'd be like making DbD all over again.
I don't think anyone would want to wait that long for an update.
3 -
That's even more work.
2 -
thats what im saying
im not sure about "years" it will take its time yes but not years. they just hadnt any concepts for killers nor survivors that came with dlc's they had to create them with their ideas first. thats something that goes faster as well as they have learned now how to integrate the rift and archives. everything that bases on gameplay have they lready done it just needs to be redone so every chapter that came out works better with the base game. i have the feeling since 2 chapters that the new chapters arent good for DbD at all because of the coding from the base game. it just corrupts the codes themselfs so if they redo everything they could fix it. AND as i have already said ... i know that its ALOT of work but it should be possible and would keep the game at better health state and feel also more fresh then if everything is working like its supposed to be.

It will take years.
Ever tried programming?
2 -
yes actually i did and im not really good at it because im not that ptient with coding, but with up to 60 people in their DbD team which are professionals in that categorie (or should be professionals at least) could make it lot faster then one unskilled programmer you know?
2 -
then probably more than i do too, well aside from what i saw, they have 4 games in total (one of it is death garden which got shut down) so 3 games are left with game of thrones, Pro feel Golf and our beloved dead by daylight. so i saw also that they are a team with 600+ people which are professionals in programming so at least 130 people should be working on dead by daylight so the game gets improved even faster. of course they have partner games but they arent as much of an focus for them normally.

All joking aside, they really should be working on Dead by Daylight 2 right now. It takes 3-5 years to produce high quality games. 3-5 years from now I would really like to be playing a new version of this game. They shouldn't announce anything. They should just quietly be working behind the scenes on the next version. They've had a lot of time to learn from this game on what works and what doesn't work.
They could make fundamental changes to the way the hook / death system and generator / escape system work. Solve some of the perpetual issues players have with the game like camping, tunneling, boring gen repairs w/o anything else for survivors to do. Maybe make it so there are like 3 different ways to escape with one randomly chosen by the map each game and all have secondary objectives. Maybe add map mori's. These are the kind of big ideas you can't just retro-actively add to the current game. You need a clean slate.

agreed. but wont happen probably.

It definitely would take years, at least 2-3 if I had to guess. It really depends on the amount of stability that you want. Compilers can be very fickle about the way stuff works, and making a video game isn't just some easy task (despite what Activision may make it seem like). Admittedly, I don't know the first thing about video game development, but I do have a fair bit of programming knowledge, so I can imagine that it isnt too easy. What you're asking is for them to develop a new game and release it for free to all people who bought the last game while making little to no profits (pretty much just sales of DbD, its dlcs, and auric cell packs) throughout that period, which could very well result in some people leaving the company. While I agree that the devs need to do more in regards to bugs before they come out and nerf perks or try to cram in more game mechanics, they do still need money.

First of all programming is hard so yes it will take years to build a “stunning” game with amazing visuals like you said but also what would happen to the people who payed money in the original game so that they could have dlc. Would they get a refund? Secondly they have many opertunitys to implement new features but with everyone screaming and crying about how broken perks and broken killers they are barely left with a chance to add anything new.

As amazing of an idea this is it won't ever happen
0 -
Maybe they could dedicate a chapter to bug fixes like Rainbow Six did in Operation Health. No new content. Just squashing bugs, tweaking matchmaking, and perhaps even touching on base-game.
0 -
Little late. Game is already on 3.5
0 -
Coming out with a sequel is pointless and only serves as a corporate cash grab. They're continuously updating the base product so a clean slate isn't necessary.

This is a visual representation of the game. Think i'm being too harsh? Every event, patch new content something else breaks or broke. How do you build upon a broken structure. It needs to be a complete tear-down which won't happen.

Decisive Shot 😉

In 5 years we will probably be playing the same game but with 20 more chapters haha

at this point without a hard course correction this game is going to go the route of Death Garden. i just don't see bandaid changes like "ruin nerf" solving the issues.

Nah how about Bows and arrows!

Dead by Deathgarden

Dead by Daylight 2: Survivors Fight Back!

If they release a DBD 2, it will have a short life. They've invested so much into this game, and sold us so much in terms of cosmetics and DLC, plus, the grind. If none of that was carried over, the sequel would shrivel up and die.

Its been 14 chapters

There are plenty of games that have done the same and then when a new version comes out people still play it. Call of Duty and Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare just to name two. It would obviously depend on how well it's made, but if they learn from their mistakes in the first one then they might just increase their playerbase instead of losing it.

Those are from established studios with histories of success. This is BHVR. With literally one mildly successful game. Everything else has been an outright failure or a second rate licensed game/port. Plus, you didn't address the elephant in the room - the hundreds of dollars people have spent on DLCs and cosmetics. All for a game that, quite frankly, should be listed as Early Access in it's current condition.
1 -
It's ok. We don't need water anyways.

It would be cool to see a new DbD revamped. However, it takes a very long time to code from the ground up. Even though they have the ideas of the killers and survivors. They would need to remake them. So much work, time and effort. It will take years.
0 -
Yes I thought about that too. Now since BHVR grew alot and has alot of recourses than before. A new Dbd with its own engine would help fixing bugs and stop causing more bugs way faster and easier. It would not be only faster, the game would run way smoother and they could change grafics way easier and better.
I dont see any problems with making a new dbd with its own engine, except for the long "preperation" time to create the new engine.

While it's true that professional programmers can work faster than amateurs, it would probably take one unskilled programmer about a decade to do what you're proposing. It will still take a team of professionals years - about 2-3, if I had to guess.
0 -
I did address your "elephant in the room". The same thing would happen if they made a DBD 2 as they did with CoD 2,3,4...million. You would still have all the cosmetics and DLCs you paid for... in DBD 1. I don't know why you think you should get anything special in a different game. But who knows, they might offer players with a DBD 1 account a bonus cosmetic or two. Hell, this is all hypothetical. They might never make a DBD 2.
1 -
I do agree that they need to add a massive update to DBD to make people come back to it an make it more fun. If they don't find ways to make the game more interesting and reliable then the game will most likely bleed to death when everyone gets board of it.
0 -
See the big thing keeping DBD alive is the licenses they were able to get.
So now, if another game dev came along and made a game like DBD but better in every way, the only way it would kill DBD is if they could also get character rights for major brand name killers like Myers and such....which would be very difficult considering it would be direct competition to themselves.
0 -
Im still with my idea...
i have seen some things again in the meantime that would have been prevented with a better engine and a new coding for it.
I love Dead by Daylight very much but it has many flaws at the moment ...
You could also integrate the unused themes also for new menu points or a new rift ^^

No, we could end up losing ALL the current license characters. There would have to be new license talks if the sequel was to try to keep the current roster.
0 -
thats something i would fear with that too .. but if it would be like that then they wouldnt even change it anyways .. they always can expand their license rights (or at least talk about an expanding) if they still are in touch with the license holders.
0 -
They literally just reworked most of the game. Whatever.

There is no bike lane on this street, why don't you just add it?
We need to rebuild this whole city.
1 -
DbD 2 will release 20 years from now to tickle our nostalgia bone after the first one inevitably died
0 -
What's wrong with that?
0 -
Cosmetic changes, yes. But revamped and better game mechanics, expended game modes, etc, would be better than this.
0 -
I think a lot of people caught up in Sunk Time fear that most of the player base would leave this and head to DBD 2.0.
0 -
Well, you got me there, there's nothing inherently wrong with it. I would suspect that some IPs may be more difficult in license renewal and may take far longer to update. I'd also like to know if the current roster would in fact be available upon sequel release, or if everything would be spaced out in chapters.
Am kinda nitpicky, sry
0 -
well if the street is faulty with its repairs because you repair a defect drain but another always gets defect directly after getting the last one repaired (like with the updates in this game that a new bug fix makes the old bug fixes mostly non existent) then it makes sense to make the street new instead of always trying to repair a non repairable thing if you know what i mean.
0 -
Yeah, sure. Just leave the original game with bots and all its versions playable.
At least I get to enjoy my personal 1.8.0 paradise while everyone else goes to DBD 2.
0 -
that would be nice as well but wouldnt happen for dbd sadly. "would be too much work"
0 -
Given all the changes the game has undergone through the years? Yes, it would be. KYF would be one thing, but the bots would either have to be able to adapt to different mechanics (despite having the same base code), or the devs would need to code bots for each version of the game.
