Players killing themselves on first hook in the first minute or two of the match

Like, why? Is that one's way to evade the penalty for dodging a match by leaving, pulling the plug, or even disconnecting due to bad network? Seriously. Its annoying as hell. And I know how to fix it.

Make survivors killing themselves on hook reportable. Like make a new segment in the report tab that's dedicated to survivors that kill themselves on hook.

Multiple games where we could've won the match easily are ruined by survivors running up to the killer, t-bagging, and wait to be hooked. Whenever I play killer and I see someone do this, I slug them.

Please, BHVR. As a killer main, whenever I do the archives or survivor dailies or feel like taking a break from killer, I would -VERY- much appreciate this being introduced. And I think a lot of other players would, too.

I imagine its already built in as "Unsportsmanlike," but it probably gets too difficult to tell if they did kill themselves on hook or not. That's how bad this behavior is. (No pun intended..I think)

At least consider it since you re-enabled disconnection penalty system. Thank you.

You're not even on the same level of the argument. You're comparing something unreasonable such as "its bannable for a killer not to chase a survivor" to a mechanism where survivors ruin the gameplay of three other survivors as an alternative method to DCing by killing themselves on their 1st hook. Did you even read the topic?

The likelihood of coming across "an easy difficulty bot teammate" is slim. You're better off finding a hacker than managing to confirm that a teammate of yours is a bot simply because "hook tech" and bumrushing hooks with borrowed time is a thing. You're a team of four survivors. I've had games where I manage to pull through by the skin of my teeth with three or even two players with a survivor DCing/killing themselves on 1st hook. I play this game to enjoy it, not play lobby simulator and feel the sweat drip down my hands straight into the keyboard, because someone didn't wanna face this type of killer, play this map, or "I'm lagging too much, so I'll die on hook." etc.. etc..

Hah, funny. If we do so then i also request to make bannable going to unhook someone... just to die. And if killer is nearby for most of the time i am the only one who survive bcs everyone other just sprint to unhook and die from killer nearby. THAT is also ruining game for other survs, in this case me. And i cant event count how many times whole game just fall apart bcs everyone MUST go safe the one hooked even tho killer is camping.

And about killer not chasing survivors - on demogorgon often i get "bg, report for stalling game". Why? Bcs i dare to not chase survivors, instead set up portals under gens, camp on one gen/portal, press RMB to sense other gens and teleport to the one where i sense someone. If i make hit - nice. If not? Im not gonna chase, just kick gen and wait under portal again with sensing. And rinse and repeat for whole eternity. Someone may also call it "ruining game" for 4 players bcs they are unable to progress forward no matter what they do. Even if they leave gens on 3 other parts of map - it doesnt matter for my demo.

Someone else may say "lets ban people who overuse sprint". How many times i get caught bcs i walked away under cover... just to someone sprint to MY cover, and hide behind it... leading killer to me?

Oh, and for sure lets ban people who use infinite loop or make 360 on killer, bcs its also ruining game for someone.

How that sounds? Every example i bring is also really game breaking, i would argue that even more than death on hook. But who we are to decide with one should be bannable? :P

You're also proposing a very preposterous thing. "Make bannable going to unhook someone" to "a survivor running to the killer, getting 1st hooked in the first 2-3 minutes of the game, and killing themselves on hook to go to another game."

You'll get the typical entitled players with their excuses about "stalling the game" when in reality, it is your job to protect the generators and try to catch them off guard. That's the whole point of being a killer. However; As a survivor, you're literally supposed to try and survive and not ######### on 1st hook in the first while of the game. There's a huge difference.

In my opinion, "infinite loops" are map design faults made by the devs and the survivors abuse it. It can be countered though. You just need to either play it smart or have the right perk(s) or the killer (Trapper or Hag for example) for it. Every "example" you brought isn't game breaking. Because it relies on the player's skills and ability to analyze the situation as well as how to deal with it. Griefers exist, but most of the time a survivor's mentality is literally to try and survive first, then try to help others.

Hook camping is a thing. If you see a killer, you just leave. Some survivors could miss the killer, or the killer back tracks to use MYC, or predicts it to try and catch the survivors off guard. Hell, if you're so worried and "traumatized" (I'm assuming based on your first paragraph), then run Kindred or Spine Chill.

I can understand why people commit suicide on their first hook, when the game lasts for 4-5 minutes and there is no gens done. They just upset and want to start another trial with decent teammates.

But I often see survivors, that dying after 2 gens done, and teammates are going to unhook. Why? We could win... But 3 gens left on 3 survivors, and chances to win decreased to half. Such survivors got in my game already 3 times in a row. With this same conditions, when we had a good chance to win.

Times on hook is a survivor's resource, that giving whole team chance to escape. And one petulant dilbert just gives his hooks to killer for free. It's annoying as DC!

It should be penalty for that survivors, or maybe benefits to his teammates and killer. Like BP or emblem points. I don't know actually.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the last four sentences. But three gens and one survivor down is, in my opinion, considered average. Especially when the performance quota is two hooks per generator pop to be considered effective from the killer's perspective. Your chances to win don't decrease by half when one dies at three generators, only by about a quarter depending on how well you perform, which is always subjective since it is per match. A match could go without anyone getting hooked or everyone getting hooked before a single generator pop.

I'm not good at math, but when someone dies on first hook for free, it's frustrating and demoralizing for his teammates.

That is true, but that isn't always the case if the survivor is actually trying to play the game and not killing themselves on 1st hook in the 1st few minutes of the game.

I did, you want survivors to not be allowed to kill themselves on a hook "because that would mess up the team"

Yeah and running up to, or not running away from the killer is as well, and not being chased for long enough as well.

And a killer not actually hitting survivors does not make for great gameplay either.

So should we just ban for all of that under the guise of it being "unsportsmenlike"?

Yeah its an extreme but this is kinda where that starts, you are asking for more options to be taken away from players and more and more self input to be against the rules.

Which again, why not have bots play it then?

Another killer that slugs rather than hooks survivors

”jUsT lET tHE kIlLeR hOoK YoU”

The dc penalty as expected solved very little. The way the developers see it though the killers now get the points they were denied before so they dont actually get those points at all since they get 1 hook per survivor and barely any chases, breaking points etc

But people aren’t disconnecting so its all good.

The way I portrayed it, at least intended to, is that they kill themselves on their 1st hook in the first few minutes (2-4 minutes) of the match which completely ruins the game for the survivors and makes it easier in some cases for the killer, especially when they have to do five generators and not three or at least, four. You're going on a different path here with your argument.

Yes, I 'd rather slug than potentially let a survivor ruin the game for others and give them what they want, which is play lobby simulator. Ruining the game for others to get a depip to bully newer killers or just grief the match in itself is bad. Slugging is also a mechanic killers utilize. You got Knockout and Deerstalker for example.

The DC penalty shed light on a different mechanism that survivors can use to ruin the game. If you want to play the game, you want to play the game at its full potential and not handicapped because someone doesn't wanna deal with this killer or a map they don't feel like playing in. Its a competitive game, not a "hold your hand and everyone is happy" game.

Do you hook them if other survivors disconnect?

Because thats the only point I give up. No point doing a 2 vs 1 not gonna win there, but some killers slug for the 4k because they’re toxic, others because they want the safety pip so much and the devs in their wisdom decided if survivors dc the killer depips.

I’m not totally against slugging if all 4 survivors are in the game. I used to do that but I dont bother so much anymore. Why? Because that person has given up and likely wont contribute to the game in anyway. Might as well just let them go otherwise they just go afk. Then I go easy on the other survivors and try not to eliminate anyone until all 3 are on death hook so that they all have a chance to get points.

The problem with the disconnect penalty is that you need 4 people committed to playing the game. Sadly you aren’t always going to get that. You get people that give up, people that troll, people that meme etc

This is why the game needs a casual and a ranked mode. That way anyway that was pissing about in ranked could more easily be punished and casual would be for all those that want to act silly.

Of course the devs are flatout against this though.

ok so its not allowed to ######### before a certain time frame?

Which means you are not allowed to attempt a kobe before that time frame? or what?

It might be legit to protect the team, if indeed its a camping killer like was suggested and you see all 3 survivors making their way too you, maybe killing yourself so they all just continue with the game is a good thing and actually better for the team.

Im just saying you can have poor teammates, thats just a thing in so many games, that can cause you to not do well yourself, it happens.

If you dont like that then you should not play Survivor or atleast not with rando's, that is your solution honestly.

Yes, I hook them if other survivors disconnect. If second survivor disconnects or kills themselves on hook, I personally let the last two go. I can't speak for other killers, but I can say this confidently. Killing yourself on the 1st few minutes of the game in itself is considerably the worst and most gamebreaking effect you could do, because you're abusing a "4% chance." that will either trigger and give you a second chance or kill you then and there. There are builds for it with a lot of luck offerings, but that more so requires a SWF team.

If a person "gives up" and won't contribute to the game, they shouldn't play the game in the 1st place. You're in a competitive environment. Every game where a player decides to tap out or leave out of their own volition are punished (with the exception of some fighting sports for obvious reasons.)

The reason why ranked mode is the casual mode is an effort by the developers to try and balance the matchmaking by having survivors and killers of equal standing face off against each other. But that's a topic for a different discussion where ranking is screwed in some way and there are less killers playing than there is survivors, which is naturally, but not so evenly done either when considering the survivor:killer ratio.

First off, its less likely to see a solo survivor. Not neglecting its possibility, but you don't see it as often especially in higher ranks.

Secondly, using a kobe at the 1st few minutes of the game seems like the dumbest decision one could possibly make. And -IF- the killer -IS- camping, that is considered a strategy a killer can manipulate (especially with the existence of insidious) as much as no one likes it, the devs approve of it and have made it clear that it is not bannable to camp as killer (although it severely hurts your blood point gain.) There are counter measures to killers that camp, tunnel, -AND- slug. (Unbreakable, Tenacity, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, and many others that are more complicated like having Adrenaline proc when you're on hook or Sprint Burst, so on and so forth.)

Thridly, if you have poor teammates, you can rank up and reduce that likelihood. Just make sure you're focused on the objective. Its possible to rank up, even if you're sacrificed as a survivor.

I gladly suicide on my first hook when no gens have been done, everyone is either down or hurting in the first few seconds of the match, etc. if you’re going to ban people for this then there’s no way this game will survive long. Sometimes you just start the match off with bad luck and it just snowballs into a losing match. What if the survivors aren’t helping you? They are on the other side of map and show no inkling of coming to your aid, and worse, they aren’t doing gens and just hiding. I’m not sticking around just to endure more punishment and lame teammates.
