So, how do you feel about getting rid of...
I have mentioned these before and have gotten various responses. Some agree, others seemed to be a hard no.
But as I have mentioned before, what about getting rid of Toolboxes, keys, moris, and the hatch.
I feel all have perhaps stayed past the need or intent of their reason for being introduced into the game.
Toolboxes with ruin nerf seems obvious now,
Hatch, who cares if you get that last lucky magical escape after your team all died. Also no more slugging for the 4k. 3rd person dies and egc starts.
Keys, no hatch no need for them.
And moris, are just so unfun to play against, except when you all escape and see the killer played an ebony. You know that feelsbadman! They do seem to promote toxic playstyles from a lot of killers as well.
Well what do you think? I am curious of how the community would feel about these changes. It would focus more on the basic core skills of the game roles and not so much rng or op items.

If we just toss out moris you ether need to make "kill a survivor by your own hand" disappear or make perks that allow you to mori easier to get for newer players

This is the definition of "feeling entitled to a 4K". Once hatch is closed it's almost impossible to escape against a good killer, and given how door placement has been lately you can stand in one spot and move left/right and check both gates within seconds, and you know who cares? The survivors care, the survivor shouldn't just default to dying because you killed 3, you earned the 3K, not the 4K
Keys, no hatch no need for them.
Keys definitely need looked at, but not removed, almost every singe pink addon/item survivors have has been nerfed into the ground and are useless now, which is why Keys are seeing a lot more usage.
And moris, are just so unfun to play against, except when you all escape and see the killer played an ebony. You know that feelsbadman! They do seem to promote toxic playstyles from a lot of killers as well.
Same as keys really, while killers do have pink addons that can spice up gameplay, making all these 7K items totally useless or removed just dampens what the game is. I think Cypress should be default kit for all killers, and then we'll have to have some brainstorming for the other two.

No items.
Fox only.
Final destination.

Valid point, maybe just drop the ebony, thanks for the discussion

I'd say no to each of them. I'll go over why for each one.
Toolboxes: For starters sabotage would be impossible without saboteur then. Add to that if you removed them, along with keys you'd only have 3 survivor items.
Keys: I think the concept for keys are fine. They just need tweaked to be a bit more fair.
Mori's: Same reasoning as the keys. Also some of the animations are cool.
Hatch: You'd have to redo EGC. Also achievements are tied to hatch escapes.

They actually do count as sacrifices, but you tend to lose a hook action and some killers do it after first hook so they would lose two hook actions.
I like your suggestion on only 1 survivor being able to use hatch per key.

I agree on ebony, in most cases a killer only uses a mori for those kill a survivor by your own hand(or for "early game pressure" now i guess?) challenges. If they change it to "a survivor who was in struggle stage on hook" for ebony then i can see it being more fair because they are dead that down in most cases anyways. But i think cypress and ivory aren't too bad as they are now.
And as for keys i think there should be an interaction that needs to be done with the hatch rather then you stand and bam its open. Some have said this.
And instead of killing the hatch you can make it only a key can open them?

I know toolboxes are getting nerfed, they may be about worthless when this happens.
With the hatch it is nice to find when you are the last player but personally it's just a little bonus. I don't play random so I would just rather try for the doors and move on to the the next game with my swf if there is only 1 of us left. If that was the case we would all, already considered we had lost. We like a minimum of 2 of us getting out. I guess solos would feel differently if they were the last one left. But let's be honest a hatch escape is a bit lucky.
Like your mori idea too. I can see your opinion on how it would dampen the game to lose these items. I guess for me it would streamline it and cut it back to the basics of killer skill vs. survivors equivalent team skills.

Cypress as default basekit would make it a lot easier to kill by your own hand

I feel like toolboxes, moris, and keys have room to be nerfed without the need to remove them. Hatch is fine as is IMO.

The hatch is 7K points for getting though (While a gate is 5K) 1/3rd - 1/4th of a survivors points are usually from escaping, it's not just lucky it can make a game actually worth queueing up for, additionally, you'd basically always lose due to how gates are, against Nurse/Billy/Spirit it would always be a 4K if the 3RD was killed, and against the rest it's like a 90% chance of 4King if there was no hatch.

Not sure if you're saying this as a negative or positive :P

I agree you would have very slim chance of escaping this way, And it may promote more tunneling knowing that 4k is all but guarantied. Good point.

Ok so we know toolboxes are getting nerfed, We can make them sabotage only or just have them super slow I guess.
Get rid of the ebony, keep the others, perhaps make cypress base kit, pretty good ideas.
Keep hatch but perhaps only 1 survivor per key could open it and escape. Each survivor would need their own key except the last one.
Good discussion points so far guys. Is this a consensus?

As a positive. And makes sense. If you catch the last one might as well make it a show

That was before they added the emblem system the hook requirements didn't exist when the game began

But they still count as sacrifices, correct? I think only bleeding out on the ground doesn't count. Mori, rbt, devour hope all count I believe.

Toolboxes need to be addressed but I haven't noticed a difference in gen difficulty since ruin. I hit 80% of great skill checks so it hasn't felt like a need more of a buff.
Hatch is fair because sometimes you have a horrible team and you happen to be the last one alive. (I dont get mad with a survivor finds hatch)
When it comes to keys I find them unfair on both sides. I would like to see some skill to opening black locks to make the game more dynamic and fair.
Finally, moris. I find it funny to be moried (I play mostly casually.) The only change I would make is that everyone has to be hooked twice to use an Ebony.

There is nothing at all wrong with ultra rare items existing and being OP. It's a casual game.
You think you want all this stuff nerfed, but you really don't. There's such thing as overbalance, and the way the newbie generation of DBD player is complaining about everything, they are going to turn it into a snoozefest.

I agree with you but if they take Moris out whats the point of being Killer.
I would stop playing
