Did toolboxes just become useless?

I just played the PTB and personally feel like toolboxes are useless as of this new update because I couldn't tell if there was a difference at all and the speed seemed so little that it wouldn't even make a difference...Also once you deplete your charges you are stuck with the item and can't exchange it for items in toolboxes or anything?

You can drop or change items like before. No it is not useless it increase the repair speed alot considering some situations that 5 seconds might result in you going down gen not poping or you repairing it and people getting adrenalin etc. personally it would be better for the health for matches if they completely deleted the toolboxes considering how fast matches go. I don't wanna wait 5 mins in que to have 5 mins match.

Let's put it this way. They are less useful. If they get the sabotage change done right then it'll probably be more useful to save survivors then to get gens done.

Toolboxes as far as repairing goes is pretty much a significantly weaker "brand new part", that runs out very quickly. To me personally their worthless now. Not enough charges and the extra repair speed is not worth it ever.

And for sabotaging hooks, I think their just okay to somewhat bad. Once again, just 1 hook sabotage can use about 1/4 of your toolbox that's insane.

Overall I think their bad now (which I expected to happen once they said toolboxes would get a change). And is another item that survivors are less likely to use

Flashlights always had low charges, not sure what your talking about there. The only thing different is you must actually time your blinds and not just click a button and blind the killer instantly with no thought. Flashlights require skill and are still incredibly useful if you know how to use it. Only people who stop using them are the ones who refuse to learn or hate they aren't op no more.

Toolboxes now no matter what aren't useful in any situation or scenario, once again to me personally.

If you think their fine, good for you I guess

Also thats like saying people will bring in maps or broken keys (green rarity key), and just make them useful lol. No one does that. People barely use them, because nothing can make them good or useful

How much of a toolbox is consumed now when sabotaging a hook?

A brown Toolbox with no Add Ons is like 2,5 Hooks. Thats all I know, since a friend mentioned it to me.

I think I got 3 or 4 Hooks with an Alexs Toolbox.

Im happy about the toolbox change, i get people are upset cause usefulness is down but you gotta remember, a toolbox with brand new part would wreck face even on one survivor. The huge issue with balancing this stuff is it has to be balanced for the possibility of 4 people taking it. A little good rng and the killer sees 4 gens pop before seeing a survivor (I know usually its 3 gens and one person caught but the 4 gen pop was also a possibility)

But they're ultra rare add ons they SHOULD be strong but they are weak as #########! 25% of a gen. Wow.

If killers started having their ultra rare add ons turned in to weak ######### everyone on here would be up in arms about how unfair it is but because it is survivor stuff getting hammered it is all good, positive changes.

I don't care about toolboxes having their charges reduced, it is the fact they have been reduced SO much and border on pointless now. Survivor bloodweb becomes more pointless with each update at the moment. Survivors may as well just have 15 perks per bloodweb and not bother having any items. Ooh a toolbox with half a charge on it for 4000 BP but I can make sure for that second I don't get a skill check if I use this add on for 4000 BP. 8000BP for next to nothing in game. Wooooo fun!

1/4 of a gen for 2 skill checks is garbage? Just because it doesn't instantly complete a gen doesn't mean it's worthless come on now try and think how survivor stuff can get incredibly op extremely fast when you bring FOUR of it in :/

It uses up a standard toolbox as well now so having it on there does the quarter of a gen but then the toolbox will be all gone. So it is literally quarter of a gen on a toolbox with the rubbish 16 charges at the cost of 11,000 BP. It isn't overpowered in the slightest and for an ultra rare add on it is piss poor.

When do people take 4 in though? Rarely? Stop expecting the worst all the time. Even if 4 get taken in that is one gen across the entire game. It is an ultra rare add on, it is supposed to be strong. How about we make the trappers ultra rare only open handful of traps before it stops working? Especially now survivors can't sabotage them.

People take 4 a lot mire than youd think. Especially if solo cause you cant rely on ppl

Not useless but they have less of an impact now, It was needed. Even without toolboxes you can finish gens incredibly fast, Better them nerfed than removed entirely.

Absolute bullshit. I play both sides of the game and I have seen it a handful of times ever.

They pretty much have been removed. They do next to nothing. We all knew they would get reduced because people who only play killer kept crying about them but the level that they have been nerfed to is beyond a joke. If a nerf of that magnitude happened to a killer's ability or add ons there would be endless tears on here about how the game was ruined. Look what happened when ruin got changed.

You really think old toolboxes had a place in the game considering how fast matches have been going since the ruin nerf? The Devs should've done both at the same time in my opinion, I for one am happy with the ruin nerf because it's getting rid of a bandaid fix to fast games, the toolbox nerf was inevitable after the changes to ruin. Would you rather longer gen times instead?

I would rather survivors aren't left with only useless items because people who only play killer moan constantly about anything a survivor has.

Commodious toolbox going from 180 charges to 32 and you think that is reasonable?

As I have said in other posts let's start treating killers add ons and perks the same and see if killers are still so pleased with themselves. BBQ only shows you auras the first time you hook each survivor once you have your 4 tokens you're on your own.

The nurse can only blink tremendous distance 5 times and then it reverts to normal.

Trapper can only have 4 of his traps set themselves.

Hag can only have her traps not alert people 3 times in a game.

Seems fair doesn't it for the expense of those add ons? No? Then why is it fair to put everything a survivor buys in the toilet?

They're less useful but they still do something, but now it's at least somewhat situational where you have to decide when to use it. Want to get a gen started quickly at the start of the game? Or perhaps you want one with few charges but maxed speed to try to finish an important contested gen faster?

And while you can sabo less hooks per toolbox (obviously) sabo in general is something that can be done more spontaneously too. If you see the killer taking someone to a hill you can go there and sabo it while before you could forget about it unless it was 99%.

I'm not claiming they're perfect, too strong or too weak, but it's pretty clear what they were going for if you ask me.

Toolboxes are completely useless 8 to 12 seconds is just garbage. I try to avoid them just like brand new parts in fact I really don't even play anymore survivors have been nerfed so many times it's taken the fun out of it.

I like toolboxes tbh. Now they are used for tactical reasons instead of holding m2 for 3 gens :p

    Fog_King Member Posts: 688

For fixing, they have been nerfed a lot, but sometimes, in those last desperate seconds, they might come in handy. I now use them mostly for sabotaging and getting some points from that.

  • Bovinity

Damn, the drama in this thread all because of some balancing of holding down M2.

Pro Tip: Stop using up all your toolboxes to rush the first gen anyway.

They're not useless. With the buffed repair speed toolboxes can still save you a couple of seconds.

Yes, that was the point of the nerf.
