Anyone scared of hidden MMR?

I mean,

there are way less killers then survivors ( seems so bc of que times)

so the top survivors will have long lobby que time.

Im afraid of killers being "boosted" by the rank system so the top survivors have somebody to play with.

im a Purple/Red rank killer, but im not good enough to keep up with these gen rush games and atm i only get survivors in red ranks.

the game is eeither super chill, or over in 5 minutes.

What is a top survivor?

he can loop and even do gens if somebody else is being chased.

if you have 4 of them you cant do anything as killer, atm you have to find the weaker survs so the good ones need to rescue them--> out of position.

what do you guys think will happen?

I had a game against a trapper not too long ago against the trapper. I hear people talk about all the gens being done in like 2-3 minutes. Never in my like 4000+ hours have I seen it happen to me as killer or as survivor. But against that one trapper....Less than 2 minutes in 4 gens popped, and before the 3rd minute was up that last gen popped while the trapper was setting up traps. It was pretty unreal to be honest.

I'm not scared of the new mmr system. I think it will be good, as they've said all of your killers won't have the same mmr, so if your testing out a new killer you barely have any playtime with, you'll also be facing weaker survivors. Sounds much better than now, where you play a killer for the first time, and it's in red ranks, and you get destroyed before you even have a chance to figure out what the killer's abilities are.

Survivors are nerfind Billy next. Soon all killers will be low tier.

My issue is the 'hidden' mechanic. Why does it need to be hidden, other than the fact that if something goes wrong, we can't prove it. Like the current rank system.

Probably best that it be hidden. Hidden or not, knowing or not, DBD will still play the same. The only difference is there will be less crying about rank/MMR on the forum.

Hmm I honestly don't remember, I think that was what I was most excited about that I didn't pay attention to if it was after or not.

Trapper, hag, clown and myers are for most people used to do dailies adn to possibly derank with cos to do well with those you have to be good. Most are not good hence the increasing wait times for red rank survs. They are now being shoved down all killer ranks in the name of 2 get kille dand 2 get out. The two that die are the brown ranks. The two that get out and make things miserable sometimes are the red ranks. Never is there true balance in this game. You are always either doing the stomping or getting stomped on.

The higher you go as killer the more likely it is that you will be outclassed. Nevermind the using coms part.

Trapper sets up anything more than three traps and already 1 gens is gone. Same with hag.

I dont want to solely play the killer that i am but i am also not stupid enough to hamstring myself in the name of having fun when the game will be anything but.

  • Not really a lot of games hide it.

Thing is I AM worried that BHVR is just going to hide it only to use it as an excuse for their proven inadequate ability to balance a match up. They claim it will pair people of equal skill, when pointed out the difficulties of that and asked how they are like "It will work you should get about 2k on average most games" and explain nothing.

There are exceptions, of course. I did say for the most part......

The MMR score should NOT be hidden. At least not yours for yourself.

MMR isn't going to change a thing, it's just going to hide the ranks so you can't complain about how hard BHVR is screwing you. The top ranks are still going to be going against killer they shouldn't, otherwise the queue times will be insane, just like now. BHVR will tempt you with promises of better matchmaking "soon", which will be months away, to keep killers hanging around in hope of something better, which will never come.

Thats exactly what i fear, too.

While i understand that you keep the ranking mechanic hidden , so people cant manipulate them explicitly, i too think that its just a cosmetic to cover up that nothing is going to change. You will just have no evidence that you were outskilled from the beginning by surivors high over your skilllevel.

It's hidden because it probably doesn't even exist 🤣

I'm not really scared of it. I honestly believe they are just going to remove ranks and say it is mmr and working as intended.

Unless survivors wanna wait half an hour in hopes of getting matched with 1 killer that is around their skill range, that is online, or happens to log in; all rank and mmr is better off hidden or not existing so everyone can play with whoever they get matched with just as the game currently is. If one side is overly better than the other, just keep playing and you'll get better over time or play something else.

I'll take how to kill an online game for $500 Alex. Matchmaking is incredibly important for a game like this. Top survivors don't want to play with potato survivors, and mid killers sure don't want to play with top survivors. The ideal fix would be to buff the crap out of the killers, so they actually have a chance. More killers = less wait.

When I came back to this game last September, it took 5-10 minutes to get a match as killer. 4 or so massive nerfs later, killer queue is instant. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the problem.

I'm calling it now, they're not gonna do ######### but hide ranks.

Not enough killers left but we need survivors to keep spending money in the merch. shop since they tend to spend more-specifically when playing with friends. Solution?... We can’t retain high rank killers and have survivors keep spending money... It’s time to hide the Ranks so the green rank killer never knows he played a red rank SWF squad. Ultimately, the killer will think 1 of 3 things.

1.) Wow I got good enough at the game to be put up against a squad like this. Derp.

2.) The matchmaking must be off I wonder what is really going on..?

    3.) I quit this game

Meanwhile survivors will continue to blindly spend money as long as they can be milked.

As I understand it as a non-expert ... this MMR thing is not the solution that magically gives you balanced matches all the time, it's more like when an unbalanced match happens the "weaker" side isn't punished that much for losing so I don't se a reason to "boost" anyone to get matches going. Right now we don't really know what causes the wait times. I know many forum members have their own obvious easy answer, but the only ones who have the data is BHVR.

There are many players at higher ranks that don't belong there. If the new system classifies them better, then that alone could help the matchmaking overall.

Also it's not just that ranks don't matter anymore for matchmaking, they also will use a different method to form lobbies that is also supposed to help to improve matchmaking quality.

I personally quite like the hidden rating. If they would show it then people would just try to figure out how it works and how to play "optimally" to boost their MMR instead of just playing so that they have fun.

I will judge the new system by whether it's giving me enjoyable games most of the time. How it does it and how "good" it thinks I am doesn't really interest me.

Of course no one wants to play with people that are absurdly different in skill.

The reality is this game has been supposedly "dying" for months and people still play.

There is a lack of killers and people still play.

Ranking has been screwed for months and people still play.

These buffs to killer that you speak of would be appreciated but it'll probably never happen, atleast not in our lifetime, without survivors getting something of equal or greater value that keeps the game easy and relaxing for them.

More incentive for killers to play or incentive for more killer players to actually exist would definitely help survivor queue times but that would mean the fun factor for killers would need to increase. With games feeling like 6 minute time trials unless you play dirty while using the upper end of the killer roster for a better chance, there is only so much fun that can be had in 6 minute bursts. The nerfs you mentioned also don't help.

All I really meant with my other post is let us just accept the game for what it is now and not cling to fond memories of better times that only prolong the suffering today. Let us accept our fate as we slowly wither away.
